White Knight Chronicles Ships Today!

Cristian Cardona's Avatar + Posted by Cristian Cardona on Feb 02, 2010 // Associate Product Marketing Manager, Software Marketing

You’d think this day couldn’t come soon enough, and here it is! Today, White Knight Chronicles is officially shipping in the US and we’d like to mark this occasion with a brand new launch trailer:

We’d also like to update you on a few things White Knight Chronicles as you begin your brand new adventures!

  1. Many of you have had questions about clarifying micro-transactions in White Knight Chronicles. The Georama will have parts that you can create and parts that you can choose to purchase using micro-transactions to further enhance your space. These are by no means mandatory purchases, as there is PLENTY for you to work with in the game itself, but an option for those of you looking to take your Georama spaces even further.
  2. For those of you who are going to be investing significant time in your characters, there will be an option to remake them without having to start the game over by purchasing a special key through the PlayStation Store for only $4.99. This will allow you to redesign your avatar at any point and keep all that hard work you’ve put in intact. This feature will go live this Thursday on the PlayStation Store.

And that’s about it! We hope to see you online and are looking forward to seeing what you put together in the Georama!

Why the hell are you charging 5 dollars just to make redesigning your avatar more convenient? That’s ridiculous.

So USA has to wait a year for this game from Japan and then comes with some idiotic DLC (that’s not even anything other than some feature already on the disc)?

Yeah, sounds great. I understand the minor transactons but the 5 dollar key is so stupid.

stupid how in canada we always have to get the games a day or 2 after their official release, only if its a huge exclusive or a huge game will they have it ready on release day…so sadly i have to wait till tomorrow or thursday to get this.

This is utterly ridiculous. You are just creating a bad image here.

While this in no way rectifies Sony’s inability to get Mass Effect 2 if 360 can get FF-XIII and the next Metal Gear Solid games… I still look forward to seeing reviews and hopefully picking up this game soon.

Well the game looks good, but I think I will wait on buying it. Maybe see a few reviews first. I am personally done saving princesses.

Yes the day has finally come! :D But I have a question, do I have to have PS Home to unlock some trophies? Because I remember somebody saying that when you unlock some trophies, some things are unlocked for Home. Thanks!

There are items that unlock in Home by attaining certain trophies, but you do not require Home to get trophies.

I’ve been looking for this game all morning out of excitement. Slowly my excitement is dying down due to the unsuccessful run around. Now I’m just going to wait for some of the reviews to make my decision. It would be nice to specify the shipping date or the actual release date. I just hate going around and asking like a mad man.

So [1] does the key you buy on the store allow redesign of your avatar as many times as you want in your game, or just once?

And [2] is there only one avatar and georama village per PSN account or can you have more than one?

    Hi there.

[1] Makeover ticket lets you redesign your avatar once. So make sure to redesign till you are completely satisfied.

[2] You can create as many avatars and Georama as you want per PSN account. Also remember, you can always redesign your Georama from a scratch at any point. :)

Finally being waiting a while for this day. This game looks awesome.

But really I have to agree with Microshock $5 for an edit button for the custom character, it’s an idiotic DLC. It’s nice that I have to get the guy perfect on my first try or I’ll be force to start the game over. Not to mention $5 in other games gets you whole new levels or modes.

Guys next time you release DLC try for it to be something that adds to the game not something that fills like you are ripping us off.

But yeah this looks like a great game.

20

+ LokeSTL on February 2nd, 2010 at 12:23 pm said:

Why did you guys wait until the last minute to ship the game? Why not ship it yesterday? Do you guys give a crap that it’s aggravating to customers to find out that the “release date” was a “ship release”? Check out the PS Boards to see that people took off work to play this on release day.

I’m sure whoever reads this will just blow it off as always. I mean, who really gives a crap if they confuse the consumer, right?

Really, if they can get every shovelware Petz game in stores by the Tuesday release, you should be able to do the same.

I rarely comment on blog posts but I felt that I just had to in this case…

Why in the world does it cost $5 to redesign your character? I would think that would be something that could quite simply be put into the game’s core structure and not something to charge for. If I wanted to pay to redesign a character I would play World of Warcraft.

I’m sorry but that is just a rip off. Nickel and diming turns me off when it comes to developers so I think I may actually pass… I might rent it.

I hope that Sony is already working with Level5 to make the sequel (already announced for Japan) not take over a year after the games release to translate.

29

+ ZhePrime on February 2nd, 2010 at 12:28 pm said:

I know this is a business and you want to earn money, but there are some things you can charge for and some things you can’t.

This “key” business has to go and the price is just way too high.
For $4.99 you can get Valkyria Chronicles DLC that offer way more than this “key”. Another example is the Return to Ostagar DLC for Dragon Age.

This will only serve to put more people off.

I know it can be confusing at times. With shipped titles, it means it\’s bent sent to stores and their distribution centers. Some will have it, but most won\’t get it until either tomorrow or Thursday. I\’d check with your local retailer.

Street titles are the ones that are day and date.

The $4.99 DLC to edit your avatar is utterly offensive.

It’s a slap in the face to people who have been waiting a long time to purchase your game.

It would have been smarter to just say, “Sorry, you can’t edit your avatar after you start the game” then come up with a DLC ripoff like this.

You won’t get my $4.99…that’s for sure. And I’m still deciding if I’ll bother spending the $60 I was going to spend.

My face is still stinging.

Sony would have had to send it out Thursday to have it street dated for today.

Like they did with MAG last week.

Sending it out yesterday would have had zero impact since most retailers do not receive shipments early in the morning. Most are probably just now receiving them (3:00 PM EST).

Taking the entire day off today would have had little impact.

It’s honestly not that big of a deal if you ask me. At least the options there to begin with, that, and as with -all- DLC, you aren’t forced to purchase the key.
Oh, and I don’t mind throwing a bit of cash down for something since we’re getting 50 quests, chat support, georama, and live chat loaded on the disc for free; the same things that Japanese adopters had to pay for.

+ FetusZero on February 2nd, 2010 at 12:47 pm said:
