Hope you’ve been enjoying your week so far. Personally, I’m ready for the weekend. We have some great new movies that became available this week on the Video Store, including Couples Retreat, The Stepfather and the latest in the Saw franchise, Saw VI.
We’re also excited to announce a new content partnership with Sports Illustrated. This week, we launched two brand new segments to the video store: Sports Illustrated – Making of Swimsuit 2010, and Sports Illustrated – On Location with 2010 Swimsuit Models. Both programs provide you with exclusive, behind-the-scenes access, and are available in HD – check out the clip below for a preview. In March we’ll also be releasing a Sports Illustrated dynamic theme, so be sure to check back then too!

Please dont tell me you’re sitting on a finished video store for Canada because you’re waiting to announce it at GDC or E3.
Quit slacking off and get it out already.

Hey Jeff – Since this is the US version of the Playstation Blog, how about you ban all Canada IP addresses from commenting, that way, the rest of us can enjoy feedback without having to sift through the massive amount of whining that just shouldn’t be part of a country specific area? No love for Canada…we get it. Move on people.

Hey kmac0378 and morris1129…the blog is run by the SCEA…the SCEA is responsible for both countries. Complicated eh?

oh and btw KSPRAYDAD, we understand the blog is for both countries, but, we here in the US don’t give a crap if you have the store or not. Also, look at the web address of the blog- blog.us.playstation, since when did US stand for United States and Canada? Regardless, here’s hoping you guys never get the store because your constant whining is a wonderful source of entertainment.

@19….
Your inability to grasp the simple concept that SCEA is responsible to both US and Canadian customers and have chosen THIS blog to be their public voice astounds me. The website domain name could be ANYTHING…it doesn’t negate the FACT that SCEA is responsible for US and Canadian consumers and their lack of openness to 10%+ of their consumers is awful.
Stop acting like a prat.

Because VIDZONE is a EU based firm and have chosen to focus their business in their own back yard. They are not owned by SONY but have arranged to have their service on the PS3. If you ever used WM10 in North America, Vidzone used to run on that platform too.

Maybe America shouldn’t be allowed to partake in the Olympics, you know with all the trade embargo’s that seem to be against Canada. No video store for Canada no Games for you. Seems only FAIR! It Just Doesn’t Do Everything In Canada!
I see YOUR slogan daily here in Canada. Not an advertisement that accurately describes the functions.

Did Sony playstation switch to a different compression scheme. Lately TNA file sizes are approximately 300mb smaller and the quality drop is pretty noticeable even on a 19 inch monitor. An Smallville: Absolute Justice is so bad, it is borderline vcd quality.

I got a 360 just for Video content, game play is better on the PS3.
Yet if Sony has no intrest in bringing the video store to Canada then I have no problem giving my money to a company that does.
Sony…your PS3 slim not selling as good in Canada as ya had predicted, we dont need all the extra HDD space.
PSPno not selling as good in Canada as ya had predicted, no video store and lack of digital versions of many UMD games = pointless buy.
The PS3 rocks, as does the quality of the PSPgo…I WANT TO GIVE YOUR COMPANY MORE $$$$.
But you need to take good hard look at what content you offer and where.
When you guys talk about not having as good of sales in Canada as you had hoped for, there is a reason.

ok heres the deal my fellow north americans (canada) . the infrastructer is there . it can be done technologica wise . however … you have to remember sony has to partner and work with 3rd parties in this issue . Which means sony doesnt have absolute say on video content , which means alot of legal wrangling and DRM issues have to be resolved between sony and those 3rd parties . heres a link to more info
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2008/10/sony-still-working-on-ps3-video-store-for-canada-europe.ars
and if your really feeling motivated … email your favorite tv network or movie producer/studio and tell them to strike a deal with SCEA already .
