Hey everyone, Mick Perona here…just wanted to say hello, introduce myself, and welcome you to this week’s Sack It To Me post, The “Community” Edition. And speaking of community, as part of the LittleBigPlanet marketing team here at SCEA, I’ll be guiding my Sackboy as he bravely traverses the interwebs so we can bring you all of the bits and bytes no proper SackPerson should be without! So without further adieu (get’s out Popit and fastens a “Ta-Da!” sound to this level)…

LBP Drake!

Community Levels

HASTAC/MacArthur Foundation Contest Update

As part of our collaborative effort with HASTAC and the MacArthur Foundation to encourage students to pursue science, technology, engineering and math in new and revolutionary ways, we thought you’d enjoy checking out the latest entry for the “Game Changer’s” category. This nifty community creation was submitted by the same LBP community members that made the popular “LittleBigContra” levels. It’s titled, “To the Moon and Beyond,” and to announce their project, they’ve released a trailer to give us all an insight of what’s to come:

User Spotlight

PSN member gevurah22 has another great level to share with the LittleBigPlanet community. He’s just finished a proper sequel to “Azure Palace” but this time, with water levels!
The first part is called: “Knights of the Azure Palace – Part 1.” Check out the trailer here.

Not only can you play this level, but additionally, LBPCentral is also hosting a contest for all you Sackboys and Sackgirls that includes the chance at winning these cute little guys:

Three Sackboys

Click on over to LBPCentral and check out the contest details.

Workshop of the Week

Sackboy x2

Every month, the LittleBigWorkshop forums hold a themed level create contest, and the winner is bestowed with the ultimate desirable, the one and only Rare PrizeCrown. There are still two weeks left to enter February’s contest, which is themed around Valentine’s Day, and requires entrants to build a two player co-op level. And even if you don’t win, what could be more fun than sacking about with your Valentine?

Not to worry though, if you want more time to build something SackTastic, the contest will start all over again on March 1 with a new theme, and again every month after that.

Sackboy on the ‘net

Over on they’ve posted some great concept art that went into the making of LBP. Below are just a few of our favorites, click on the pics to visit the full gallery and enjoy!

I have one of those SackBoy figures. Had to get him from ebay. Amazon has 6 inch plush only they are never in stock.
Why isn’t there more swag available for these cute little guys. (P.S.) 6 inches isn’t big enough to cuddle…

Hey there FritoZ! They say we\’re all \”kids at heart\”! And this game definitely keeps us all feeling that way! I never thought it could be so easy (or so deliciously addictive)to create my own levels, but it is!
And you\’re right, it IS all about imagination! After all, LittleBigPlanet is about a world that was created out of bits and pieces of all human beings collective dreams. So your own personal LittleBigPlanet can be anything you want it to be!

It’s amazing how this game is from 2008 and yet there is still full support. This game is constantly updated with new content :)

First off, I think it’s pretty cool that there’s some Uncharted stuff in the Works.

But what happened to the White Knight Chronicles costumes? I saw it displayed multiple times on the blog, but it’s still not available in the US Playstation Store.

Hi Mick, I`ve never heard of a crown contest. What do I need to know to win?

Any chance on a Uncharted pack now after all of the ASIS awards? BTW congrats on all of the awards. Perhaps one of my favorite games ever.

+ GGDBoy on February 19th, 2010 at 8:58 pm said:

Seeing all the stuff recently is making me think about playing LBP again. Any chance of there being any anime type DLC (Dragon Ball Z and things like that).

I messed up, and acidentally put my add-on on another memeory card, and now I can’t transfer it to my new memory card, can anyone help?

+ Kenshin71 on February 20th, 2010 at 4:47 am said:

Why don’t MM add the User Spotlight to the Search Options in the game? Instead of posting them on the blog people could find them directly in-game. 5 user made levels every week updated on Thursdays chosen by the community, MM, gaming sites etc.

+ Otend on February 20th, 2010 at 1:27 pm said:

I only have the PSP version, as I lack a PS3 currently, but I am planning to get a PS3 mainly for this game, so that I can experience LittleBigPlanet in its true form. Plus, any game where you can be a little burlap bag dressed like Solid Snake in various levels that you can create, share, and download gets my $60, easily.

+ PantherX on February 20th, 2010 at 5:38 pm said:

Perhaps u can come up with a way to have LBP more customer friendly, ive bought every DLC pack and tools kit only to have my level moderated which means deleted for no reason at all. there was no rude or anything explicit or copyright infringing. how am i suppossed to feel comfortable putting time and money into a product that i cannot use?

+ CervantesDL on February 21st, 2010 at 8:52 am said:

Mick! I know that I and a lot of others are still wondering if the FFVII content is still being made. Is it, or did it get cancelled? It’s been a REALLY long time since it was announced.

+ Musoka_Eimin on February 24th, 2010 at 2:54 am said:

Woo! Cant wait to see everyones entry in the competition. Though I’m no longer a child, this game certainly lets me be one once again if even just for bits at a time. Thanks to MM and the community who make this game the best ever!
