PSPgo In-game Promotion Code Available Now

Kristin Neirinckx's Avatar + Posted by Kristin Neirinckx on Feb 19, 2010 // Marketing Manager, PSP

Hi everyone! For those of you who still have yet to pick up your very own PSPgo system, there’s no better time than now. As most of you already know, PSPgo is the first all-digital, full-game handheld entertainment system on the market to date. Since its launch last October, we’ve seen a tremendous response to the newest member of the PSP family. If you’re ready to take the next step in portable entertainment, you’re in luck!

For a limited time, we’re offering an incredible value to all of you PSP newbies. Now through Sunday, March 21, 2010, U.S. and Canadian consumers who purchase a new PSPgo system can download one of our top PSP titles from the PlayStation Store at no additional cost. How you ask? In short, this limited-time offer combines the PSPgo system with a PSPgo In-game Promotion Code, which entitles you to a digital download of either LittleBigPlanet (PSP) or Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines.

PSPgo Voucher Code

The PSPgo In-game Promotion Code redemption process is simple:

  • You must purchase a new PSPgo unit between Thursday, February 18, 2010 and Sunday, March 21, 2010.
  • To redeem code, you must create a PlayStation Network account or login to your existing account directly from your PSPgo system.
  • SCEA will then e-mail a code (using the email associated with one’s PSN account), which is good for one qualifying PlayStation Network account to download the game for the PSPgo system, via the PlayStation Store.
  • All in-game promotion codes must be redeemed by March 31, 2010.

With more than 300 downloadable games, and more than 2,700 movies and 17,000 TV episodes available on the PlayStation Network (video download service available to U.S. residents only), PSPgo is the ultimate handheld entertainment system designed for the digital lifestyle. Again, the PSPgo In-game Promotion Code will only be available for a short while so be sure you take advantage of this limited offer soon. As always, we look forward to hearing your feedback. Enjoy!

Its greatly amusing that this “deal” is valid in Canada.
Though, someone should mention that of the PspNo’s content…

2700 Movies are NOT available in Canada.
17000 TV Shows are NOT available in Canada.

Also the “more than 300 downloadable games”, includes obscure titles released as Ps1 “Classic” titles, many of which were more or less trash in their prime.
As well as over-priced minis.

In addition to that lets add the PspNo tax since 90%of the PSP titles cost $5-$10 more than their UMD counterparts.

As a FORMER PspNo owner, I feel the full truth should be made to the consumers thinking of making the purchase of a PspNo.

Hopefully this is a sign of more support. I love my go to death but I’m worried about games like Kingdom Hearts won’t be released for it. Hopefully it does.

Or… you could just offer the old games that EVERYONE WANTS. Hell, I’d even pay for those. You’re freaking Sony. Show some balls, and get third-parties to play ball with digital distribution, or do it yourselves. Jesus. This would be a great platform, if I play even half of the stuff on my old PSP. You’ve heard this before, but it’s frustrating as hell to not get ANY response whatsoever other than, “We think it’s great!” Just get real for like two seconds, and do what you need to do to actually get people to buy the thing. Would YOU buy one if you were presented with these two options? When you lay it out on paper, I highly doubt it.

@110 nope got mine launch date but never logged onto my account on my pspgo. i guess that doesn’t work either then. damn you sony why you gotta screw us early adopters over!

+ Kimberlin on February 19th, 2010 at 5:45 pm said:

Honestly thats a crock, I think this should be for all psp go users until the cut off date!!! we gave sony our money we supported them with there download only machine and thats how they do us?

114

+ Psikorps on February 19th, 2010 at 5:48 pm said:

@111 Agreed.

And if Micro$oft can have a (truly outstanding) video service in Canada, surely Sony can.

Lack of content is the only thing holding the PspGo back in Canada.
Sony, when you limit content you limit the customer base.

+ Hiroshima711 on February 19th, 2010 at 5:49 pm said:

@Kimberlin: agrred man! I understand that this is a marketing campaign to get more people in but its still a big slap to all the early adopters.

Any ideas anyone???

Return it.
Get a new one, log in tonight or tomorrow.
DL your 1 of the listed games.

OR

Return it.
Get a 3000 model and 3-4 games with the $$$ you will save in the price difference between the 2.

Go to newegg.com and you can get the white PSP Go for $199 with free shipping. Its still too much money if you ask me, but if thats the price you are looking for, then do what will with the info.

+ GooieGreen on February 19th, 2010 at 7:32 pm said:

Early adopters should get $40 towards any PSP game on the store.

+ martin11283 on February 19th, 2010 at 7:35 pm said:

this is dumb, i have bought many games for my PSPgo and now they give out a free game. i think its only right that they email a code to all PSPgo owners. that would be good on Sony’s end. Come on SONY don’t [DELETED] OUT.

126

+ jqtaxpayer on February 19th, 2010 at 8:00 pm said:

*sigh*… nice try.

There’s still no incentive for any rational person to upgrade to a PSPgo from an original PSP, and anyone who doesn’t own an original PSP simply doesn’t want a PSPgo.

+ Mobius_124 on February 19th, 2010 at 8:04 pm said:

Kinda upset. I was expecting the code immediately. I just got the PSP Go! today and bought Killzone. But yeah i still haven’t gotten my code for LittleBigPlanet – which LittleBigPlanet and ModNationRacers are the only reason i bought it. :/

Hopefully i didn’t just get the shaft by Sony. Any idea when we’ll be getting our codes? Tomorrow maybe? Please? >.>

This is unacceptable… Early adopters should be rewarded not punished. Like many others, I purchased the console day 1. Instead of [DELETED] at you guys, I just hope you guys at Playstation can do something to fix the situation.

+ maver1ck89 on February 19th, 2010 at 8:37 pm said:

This sucks.

The Go wouldn’t be such a worthless product if I could download some games that didn’t suck and weren’t 2/3 the cost of a PS3 game. Like, say, Assassin’s Creed or LittleBigPlanet. Except I (the idiot Faithful Consumer that I am) bought one after Christmas and have regretted almost every second of it. Rock Band Unplugged Trial Edition? Thanks but noooooooooo thanks.

Why do you guys hate us so much?

132

+ DougieDoug on February 19th, 2010 at 8:50 pm said:

I have a great idea. How about you (sony) just make the PSN PSP game prices match the MSRP (Dissidia Final Fantasy should be 29.99) and you actually start putting the psp games onto the psn (Crisis Core FF7). I would be much happier with a selection of games, rather than a free game.

133

+ krae_man on February 19th, 2010 at 8:58 pm said:

Way to screw over the Day 1 buyers by offering something you should have been doing from the Get go.

This wont solve terrible sales of the system either. The PSP GO needs a $50 price drop ON TOP OF this free game offer AT LEAST.

Downloadable game prices also have to drop by AT LEAST ONE THIRD.

Quit making dumb decisions Sony.

134

+ DarkKnightNoob on February 19th, 2010 at 9:20 pm said:

Are you actually kidding me? I support this product and launch and get nothing? I hope this is a precursor to some deal for people who bought it BEFORE today.

+ Rayziel on February 19th, 2010 at 9:23 pm said:

Sorry Sony but the price strategy with the PSPGo is just wrong.
Digital downloads priced the same as physical copies?
I thought that digital media was suppose to be cheaper since you discard some production costs… Guess im wrong.

+ Rainwater on February 19th, 2010 at 10:16 pm said:

So, why wasn’t there a similar promotion when the PSP Go launched last October? Pretty [DELETED] move, Sony US, for those that have had our PSP Go’s for a while now.

137

+ Elatis on February 19th, 2010 at 10:31 pm said:

Yeah put me down as another P.O.ed early adopter as well. No UMD transfer or free games for us NA buyers. I’ll remember this for the future Sony. thanks.

138

+ ConradCervantes on February 19th, 2010 at 10:45 pm said:

I didn’t give a damn about not being able to transfer UMDs to the PSPgo when the device was released; it would’ve opened up the doors to severe piracy, and that would’ve been a losing deal for all parties involved.

But this deal really works my nerves. Introducing a free game deal only five months into the life of the PSPgo and NOT letting early adopters in on the deal? I can’t defend that. I am a Go owner, and I don’t regret it a second. I love the thing. I just would like to be rewarded as well for supporting Sony’s ever-failing attempt to break into the digital download game.

So whoever thought up this deal? You can go right to Hell. The idiots in charge of the PSP division don’t make it any easier for me to defend them, or to sell their products at my place of work.

While it’s nice that SCEA has remembered they have a portable, the best way to treat owners of it (and the regular PSP) is to put more game content on PSN.

It’s a toss up if new titles will be up on there, and the back catalog is being added at a glacial pace.

And don’t get me started on the minis. They’re basically iPhone games at 5x the price and doled out at 3 a month (while the iPhone gets dozens a week?)
