The FINAL FANTASY franchise has long been synonymous with the PlayStation brand – who could forget FINAL FANTASY VII on PSone and FINAL FANTASY X proved to be a landmark achievement when it launched on PS2. And, now we have the highly-anticipated FINAL FANTASY XIII for PlayStation 3 hitting store shelves today.

For those of you headed out to pick up your copy, we’re happy to announce that FINAL FANTASY XIII for PS3 offers an exclusive bonus offer for FINAL FANTASY XIV. Some of you may remember the announcement we made at our E3 press conference last June, but just a reminder that PS3 will be the only console you’ll be able to play FINAL FANTASY XIV when it launches in 2010.

Players who purchase a copy of FINAL FANTASY XIII for PS3 will receive a FINAL FANTASY XIV secret in-game item and be able to enter for a potential opportunity to become a beta tester for FINAL FANTASY XIV for PS3.

Included inside copies of the initial production run of FINAL FANTASY XIII for PS3 are Campaign Codes printed on a special SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS Point Card. Players can register at SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS and receive a code to unlock the special FINAL FANTASY XIV limited offer.

For additional details on FINAL FANTASY XIV, check out the official website and be sure to stay tuned to the PlayStation Blog for much more to come on the game this year.

  • @99 i Think it was the code after u put it in it was some code saying about ff 14 code or something mines not even working =/ my beta code that is

  • so, is there any chance of japanese language at any point? I really like Yukari Fukui and Maaya Sakamoto, and to be stuck with what I hear are annoying english VA’s is really disappointing.

    any chance at all? please?

  • final fantasy xiv is a skip for me. i skipped xi and i’ll be skipping xiv in favor of getting versus xiii and agito xiii…

    =P

  • Missing dialogue in Chapter 3 (I believe that is correct). When you come up on the large ship in Lake Bretha, they start talking but the dialogue does not actually play (only background music can be heard).

  • Game seemed alright. Super slow start, with basically the first at least 2 hours all being a useless tutorial. I would like to know how the game actually goes after that, but my lovely 60 gig decided to die on me with the ylod while playing this game this morning.

    Awesome job Sony.

I recieved NO FFXIV Item nor did I recieve a FFXIV Beta code. I read this blog update and this is THE reason I went out and paid $60 for FFXIII for PS3. Im NOT happy.

I would appreciate it if someone from Square or Sont would contact me about this…

    Thank you.

  • I’m sure everyone will get on xbox360 for sure

  • I didn’t know this game was on the ps3 since there arent any commericals….

  • @107

I also received no code. Not happy at all. My copy of FFXIII had no Square Enix Members card in it, just the instruction manual. I know it’s limited to the first production units shipped, but I’m pretty sure that’s what I have as I bought the game in the morning of release day, and I had it pre-ordered as well. EB Games won’t do anything about it, so I’ve e-mailed Square Enix customer support and I’m waiting for a response. They’ve apparently opened the e-mail, but haven’t responded to it. They had better not ignore it…the least they could do is send me a registration code through e-mail since I didn’t even get one.

I bought the Japanese version since I’m over here, is there a way for me to register the point card that came with my copy of the game? I’m still picking up the english version of vouse. Also, do other countries get the pink and white Lightning PS3 console?

No, us NA gamers do not get special edition games or consoles. Europe and Japan received a special edition FFXIII which included the soundtrack, hardback book, art prints, and a l’Cie decal, but God forbid they release anything like that in NA! WTF!!! Japan also got a limited run of “Final Fantasy Potion/Tonic” energy drink with included figure. Look it up on Amazon or Ebay, there are some stores that are importing them.

  • i dont know y people like final fantasy so much the only thing good about it is the graphics the game sucks all u do is take turns hitting somebody then u watch a long video thats not fun at all i bet i wont even make game of the year

  • You don’t take turns hitting someone. If you stand there confused on what to do, you will continue to get hit before you get a hit off.

The game is strategy. You come across a mob, and you can choose to examine him as he whacks away at you, then you can use that libra scan to attack the weakness you learn he has. Some fights require you to deshell, deprotect, and poison a mob just so you can begin to take damage to him.

Some fights are easy, first 3-4 hours of the game, and after you have to start to paradigm shift it gets really intense. You should try to play the game before you begin to make comments about taking turns hitting, and what the game is. Just rent it Southside and check it out. You won’t be disappointed if you can get pass the first 1/4 of the game which is 20 hours since its so easy and you just take turns hitting and watching cs’s lol

  • I asked EB games if they have it in stock and they said no and that the next shipment will be on Monday. Does this mean that the Monday shipment will NOT be the initial production run, thus, having no code?

  • I love FFXIII, best Final Fantasy made to date. Currently in Chapter 12 and I must say unless you are this far you won’t understand. Still, I really want to play FFXIV more!!

  • Heya Rob, regarding this code. It is missing from my FFXIII region 3 copy. Are all copies suppose to ship with it?

  • i need to get a PS3 soon, so i can get this game.

  • Brought FF13 day after release, Am @ ODIN @ The Min, will play more soon
    Awaiting GT5

  • I recieved the code, registered for beta test FF14 and awaiting the bonus item

  • when are there going to be more final fantasy games going on the psn>:( because iam getting bored with the psp go i got for my birthday.

  • I’d like to hear what SCEA and Square Enix plan to do about my PS3 that won’t read disc games any more. Due to whatever faulty components (be it software or hardware), my console has been rendered nearly useless thanks to Final Fantasy XIII and some undisclosed issue where the BluRay drive stops functioning.
