Hello again Home Community,
I am thrilled to be back on the PlayStation.Blog to share some exciting news. Tomorrow we will be launching PlayStation Home 1.35, a new client update that will include some very significant enhancements that will make your PlayStation Home experience even better.
This update will bring several of the changes that you, the PlayStation Home community, have said are most important to you. Most notably, this update features faster load times, giving you quicker access to PlayStation Home and all the great content within. The new 1.35 update also enhances the login process. Now, once you have launched into PlayStation Home from the XMB, you will be transported directly to a new intuitive navigator, without the need to click through message screens.
Like much of PlayStation Home, the design of this new navigator is directly based on community feedback on how to improve access to the content used most in PlayStation Home. This streamlined interface features categories to help you quickly move through PlayStation Home and locate friends in just a few clicks.
Categories will include:
- Favorites: Personalize your own section to make locating your favorite places quick and simple.
- Personal Spaces: Your clubhouses and personal spaces are now right at your fingertips. The personal spaces you own and the clubhouses you belong to will be viewable in one convenient location.
- Friends: Finding your friends in PlayStation Home has never been easier. View the current location of your friends in PlayStation Home, and then navigate there to enjoy the action together.
- Explore: Browse all the spaces PlayStation Home offers. Finding a space that suites your taste and mood has never been easier.
- Recommend: Keep up with what’s hot in PlayStation Home. This regularly updated category will feature the newest and most exciting additions to PlayStation Home.
Just a reminder that PlayStation Home will not be accessible for a brief period tomorrow as we work the magic on our side to bring you this update. If you have any questions or comments, as always, please drop us a note in the PlayStation Home forums.
With now 12 million users around the world playing games, attending special events, watching videos, listening to music, and meeting new friends, there has never been a better time to join the PlayStation Home community. The updates that you mentioned here are really appreciated thank you very much for them.
Now that we have faster load times, For the Next update You guys at sony need to focus on bringing over xbox live members into HOME.
We gotta Implement voice chat within HOME,and also like fellow member Shadowpelican said “we really need Home to be a universal multiplayer game lobby to launch into all games”.
Stop Microsoft from crushing PSN by adding these features please! Home would be much more socially friendly and enjoyable for gamers.
Please don’t ignore this post and take this into consideration.
I want PSN to again ground on XBOX LIVE and people like you Jack Buser and others have the power to make that happen.

Home has been in beta for14 months.

this is good news, the more streamlined it is, the better home will be.
As of December 2008, open public voice chat had to be “temporarily” removed due to server congestion.
Have they changed their minds and made it a
“permanent” removal? It’s been well over
a year since.

Home is supposed to be for adults and if they cant handle a virtual world they probably wont make it in the real one……….its simple if u dont like what someone is saying mute them or block them but everyone i know on psn barely uses home because of voice chat being gone.
By the way sony i love ya but if u wanted home to be alternate reality for kids and teenagers then you were successful because thats what you got.

Has pricing for Club Houses been finalized yet??? What will the monthly rate be and when will it be taken out…
I haven’t jumped in since the beta period. It reminds me too much of Second Life, without all the cool stuff you can do in Second Life.
I wonder if this means i wont get randomly disconnected from Home any more.

With the new update will it help with connection issues? Used to have no problem with HOME but now I lose a connection or some kind of weird error happens all the time.

Dude, you can close the text box by clicking L3 (left analog stick). And you have the option to completely turn off text all together if you want, and you have always had both of these options.
Never been crazy about Home, but I did log in once a week and have spent some money on outfits. I’ve now quit using Home after a few disappointing “special” events. I waited around for an hour at the appropriate time and place on Halloween only to find out nothing was going to happen and it only occurred in one instance of Home. Me and the other 100+ people in my instance were really pissed off about that. Then there was the Christmas one where you had to pay for old clothes to participate. Not cool, have not used it since and probably will continue to avoid it.
Jack, I lost some parts of my Helghast clothes and there arent on store, how can i recover it???
Will sub accounts under 18 still have to content restriction on the main account to still get into home? This is the main reason i do not enter home very often
Apparently those with sub-accounts can’t access Home, which is a shame because my son just turned 13 (yeah, I’m old, what of it?) and he’s had his had account on my PS3 since he was 10. He thought about making a new master account just for Home, but decided it wasn’t worth it.
Still, nice job over the past couple years. Look forward to see how it evolves in the future.
I don’t find that Home is very functional for actual gamers, in fact Home often seems to be more like facebook or other social networking sites in that it is more often a time waster away from actual gaming.
Is there any update to the clubhouses yet?? This was the only part of Home that had the potential to work well for large gaming groups or clans. Unfortunately the clubhouses were limited by the member limitations. I quite understand the instance population restrictions, but never understood the restrictions on number of members. A simple password entry system or an unrestricted member system would allow the groups to be more functional. It would be great to meet up with a large group before playing MAG so that we have a space where we can organize into 8 person squads – but the current group restrictions really only make the clubhouse functional for social networking, not gaming. A gaming calendar on the wall of the clubhouse for that months planned games would also make Home more useful to gamers.

I’ll believe the faster loading when I see it. It better fix the “the more items you have, the longer it takes to load things” issue. How could that really get by you guys?
And: Things to do in personal spaces, plz. Poker table so I don’t have to deal with EA Sport’s glitching and bullcrap, plz.

if you want more people & to make way more money in home quit focusing on the irrelevant bs for broke kids & teens & bring back voice chat & add music and video sharing like you promised at homes launch! and if your worried bout offending kids with VC then block under 18 yr olds from using VC.i understand its still in “Beta” phase,but come & get with it already SCEA!!!

I always liked home a lot and i play it almost every day but theres only one thing i dont like about it now :/
when i started to play it (July 2009) the songs on Listen@Home were way way better and well known
Now theres a lot from Jak and Daxter and from MAG (WTH??)
You guys should put songs not soundtracks from games =/
Oh the DMB (Shake Me Like A Monkey and Why I Am) songs were great at july 2009 you should bring them up again.

when will we, Mexico get access to Playstation Home?, been what?, 2 years? since sony promised us mexico users home, but still nothing, i just see all things we mexicans cant get, and most of us are forced to make an US account, but what about mexican accounts like mine?

Trust me when I say ‘It’s about stinking time!’. I stopped accessing Home because of those ridiculous load times. In total the user would be waiting 10 whole minutes for everything to load-up once logged in – annoying. And as for voice chat it needs to be integrated into Home. Without it Home has taken a step backwards in innovation.

This is a nice update but you did forget about the #1 feature requested by Homies the world over. PARTY VOICE CHAT.
Did you check out MY thread about “How to implement voice chat in public spaces again” in the Home forums? Maybe you will in a week when GDC is over.
Also I think Magnus Keynes is able to slash prices considering if there are 12 million users and each one has bought one item in the last year that is potentially $6-12 million in Revenues well net gross anyways. I just wonder that all of us whom have all the stuff on sale should maybe get a credit memo to offset the hundreds of dollars a lot of us have spent. I know I have personally spent well over $800 on Home. Well well well over… I know what it’s like to feel like Magnus, but that gold suit should be $5 not $15, taxes here kill me on purchases like that.
How about a “Tax-Free” day?
Calling One friend at a time just doesn’t cut it, as for bandwidth: I organized 64 friends to go to Ratchet and Clank space and each of us called 1 other friend on our lists while there. 32 conversations all at the same time in one room and no lag…..
I really want to play Home but there is a problem with my PSN account:
I’m 16 and my dad has the master account on the PS3. When I go into home on my account, it says I’m not old enough.
I went into my dad’s account settings and turned a certain setting to On (can’t remember which one), and I could go into Home, but couldn’t play any other games online. If I turn it off I can’t play Home. Is there any way to fix this so I don’t have to be constantly changing settings?
I like how some people think that Playstation Home is free, We people that buy crap in Home help pay for all this, If everyone in Home bought one item a week we would get more improvements. BUT MOST OF YOU ARE CHEAPSKATES OR LITTLE KIDS!

So when is public voice chat coming back to Home? It was taken from us over a year ago with the promise that it would return. Well, will it return sometime this year?
Where is the trophy room? Where is the ability to stream music and video in our public spaces?
I feel like we have been given false promises. If these promises came true, I would spend a lot more time in Home, which means I would buy more things in Home. Which means you would make more money. See where I’m going with this?
I can’t wait for the update and I can’t wait for appliances at the mall so I can get a virtual tv’s and virtual stereos.

Answer: Turn the Parental Control ON. If it doesn’t work, play around with the different settings. We had to do this so that my Wife could have access to Home on my PS3. Then we had to do it so that I could use Home on hers. Good luck.

Hey it would be great if you can make Home all region.
Some users eg. Malaysians can’t even access it.
I’d love to use my account for all the different servers and content without having to switch users. Also, allowing custom music support would make the experience much more relaxed.
Also, can’t there be an option to automatically boot Home on console launch?
If these features were all implemented PSHome will be amazing.

I’ll be getting my second playstation 3 dew to my cousin selling my first one when i was on vacation. I can’t wait to see what the playstation network has to offer these days.
Please, please say this update will address the freezing issues during log in. I haven’t been able to log into Home for months now.

This is great news, but there is one thing… I don’t know if anyone else experiences this problem, but often I find that I have to constantly re-download spaces on Home, even the ones I use often, such as the bowling alley, the theater, and the other main Home places. Can this be fixed as well?

Will I see custom weather implemented in Home for the PS3? No problem if it can’t be done on the current system, just say so.
Scenario: I enter Harbour Studio. The room has a yellow atmosphere- I changed the colour of the main-light of the room to brown-yellow. The time-of-day (not system clock related) of the space was set to late-afternoon. Weather was set to overcast w/ heavy rain. Now I set the weather to light-snow (purchased it cuz it’s not free =P). Glass is frosty. Some snow blows in with a cold-wind sound. I lay furniture with Christmas theme, some music from HDD using a radio I bought. I invite my friends over for a Christmas Eve party.
With rain, no physics needed to please customers. I don’t mind paying for these things (hope not expensive).
Locoroco Island is amazing. There are reasons for its addiction and I do hope that this is similarly done in other spaces.
