Attention all of you METAL GEAR SOLID fans! For those of you who’ve been crossing your fingers and toes in hopes of a MGS PSP pack similar to the one announced in Japan, your prayers have been officially answered. Starting on June 8 to coincide with the launch of the standalone game, the METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER PSP Entertainment Pack will soon allow you to relive the stealth-action, glory and honor of the METAL GEAR SOLID series.

Metal Gear PSP Front

The new METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER PSP Entertainment Pack will include:

  • “Spirited Green” PSP-3000 system
  • METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER game on UMD
  • PlayStation Network downloadable voucher for special in-game content which will be unlocked at the start of the game
  • PlayStation Network downloadable movie voucher (US residents only); title TBD
  • 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo

As most of you already know, METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER marks the return of Hideo Kojima’s world-renowned stealth-action series. This highly-anticipated METAL GEAR SOLID sequel picks up where METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER for the PlayStation 2 leaves off. With an extensive amount of gameplay that will revolutionize previous notions of a handheld game experience, METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER introduces an exciting new storyline, stunning visuals and a console-quality gaming experience, all of which is only possible on the PSP platform.

The METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER PSP Entertainment Pack brings the same incredible value you’ve seen in previous PSP packages and introduces a never-before seen color to the PSP-3000 family. It will be available at major retailers in the United States and Canada for $199.99 (MSRP). Let us know your thoughts and enjoy!

“$199.99″

Is Sony ever going to realize how overpriced the PSP is? Sure, this is a limited edition color (a very nice one by the way) and comes with a game and some stuff but that price over 4 years since the system launched isn’t doing the system any favors.

Actually, Peace Walker picks up where Portable Ops left off, PO picked up where Snake Eater left off. ;)

Why would they bundle a PSPGO with a UMD version of the game? Of course it’s a PSP 3000.

So what do the regions get in place of the movie voucher? Do we just get screwed out of “value”?

I agree with #1 – where’s the silk screen? I got the GOW edition and it was one of the reasons why I bought it.

Sweet been wanting to get either the green of yellow PSP, but those have been only available in japan…I think. So now that it is green and comes with one of my reasons to get a PSP, I’m Sold.

I was hoping for a PSPgo bundle for this game. A missed opportunity for Sony to move some of those units. Ah well, regardless, this game will still be the game I upgrade my PSP with.

Dear Kristin.

Do you work for SCEA? I’m assuming so as you post addresses that this product is available in the US and Canada. That is great.

Could you do me a favour (see…I’m a Canuck) and justify why I’m paying $199 and not getting a Movie voucher? If you are going to sell your product in Canada at par (and thank you) you should also be making them equivelant value no?

Good thing Sony is still supporting their normal PSP; you know… the cheap (and better) one.

@9 Hear! It pisses me off how many people disregard Portable Ops. It’s in the MGS4 database, ffs.

Also… Will I be the first one to make the obligatory “where are my MGS4 Trophies???” post?

24

+ ZhePrime on March 16th, 2010 at 11:05 am said:

@ 4

The PSP Go was never meant as a replacement, only an option. Since really, what’s the point of having a normal PSP if you don’t pirate games? The PSP Go is smaller, lighter etc. than the normal versions and who carries tons of UMDs with him for a portable machine?

The only problem with the PSP Go was the price.

Is there a horrendous Konami ID system to deal with for the online portion? Metal Gear Online was sooo fantastic, but the Konami ID and lack of PSN hosting killed it. Absolutely killed it. Along with the lack of trophy support.

This looks like a sweet deal, glad to see its not a PSPGO version.

Got to meet Kojima-san in Tokyo last year and I must admit, the man is just too cool and friendly.

Pre-ordered.

I do want a psp but I don’t know which one the only reason why I thinking about getting a psp 3000 is because of the umd drive because I rent out allot of game allot more than I buy on a portable system I want dd games since I don’t have to carry around physical copies and I like the go’s size if sony would release rental service for dd games then it would be a no brainier for me on which psp system that I would get

IT about time we get a fricking color other than silver and black in the USA.

God I already have a black psp 1000 and a silver psp 2000. Who eally wants the same boring color choices for a psp 3000?

That is why I did not bother to get a psp 3000 I was waiting for a color any color.

Japan got tons of colors why cant we?

And that ugly lilac purple/pink thing does not count as a color.

I’m really not fond of the color or the pack in general. I would much rather have the bonuses Japan is getting in their limited edition.

The water can and puzzle are just awesome, please make it happen, I’d totally pay a premium price.

With the release of peace walker, they should release the metal gear acid games on the network store. They were both great games which I’d love to download into my go.

Sweeet! Metal Gear 3: Snake Eater was my favorite game in the series (or maybe a close tie to MGS4) and I’m very much looking forward to the release of this game. :D If I have the money, I’ll buy this PSP for sure.

Though I wish this game could’ve been on PS3. Big Boss in HD?! Bring it on!

As someone who has owned the original PSP 1000 series as well as the PSP 3000, I’d like to just point out that not all of us own those systems to pirate games. Some of us like having physical media (and I can still download games to my 8 GB pro duo), in addition to the option of UMDs.

Truthfully I would have loved an installation option similar to what the 360 and PS3 offer, where the media is required to be in the tray but it’s accessed from the memory, limiting disc calls which reduce battery life.

I believe in the concept of voting with money as a consumer and I think we can do that without becoming pirates. If you disagree with a company, don’t buy their products, tell your friends, write them, but don’t steal from them either. It’s not a question of morality, it’s about effectiveness.

@#48 Oh, great idea NateGraves, I would love to see that. Decreased Load times, increased Battery life, quieter running… /drools.

I hope this doesn’t come out on the PS store so the fools who bought a PSPgo realize they bought a flop.
