Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City Has Arrived for PlayStation 3!

242 0

We are proud to announce that the highly-anticipated, long-awaited release of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City (including both The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony) for PlayStation 3 – is here. We know PlayStation fans have been anxiously waiting for this release, and we sincerely appreciate all of your patience and support over the past year as we worked to get this game to you as soon as we possibly could.

As most of you may know, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City is two complete game experiences as episodes set in Liberty City: The Lost and Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Both games are included on one disc, and do not require a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV to play (though if you do own GTAIV, you can also purchase and download the episodes digitally via the PlayStation Network).

Here’s just a taste of what you’ll find in Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City:

  • New missions and storylines
  • New weapons, including a grenade launcher, sawed-off shotgun, and sticky bombs
  • Enhanced physics for motorcycles, as well as new vehicles (yes, including a tank)
  • New radio, internet, and television content
  • New multiplayer modes and locations
  • Full PSN Trophy support

  • I can’t believe people are actually going to support rockstar for barely releasing the dlc to psn. Or rather, that people still even care about gta4 enough to buy them. I totally forgot about that game especially when their western and noir clones are about to come out. I’m tired of 3rd party exclusivity deals, particularly when it’s obvious developers like rockstar only do it when the market will support it and they treat the rest of us like chumps and expect us to buy their crap when it stops making money on the inferior console.

  • I just downloded lost and damned but its no where to be found on my Ps3 can any1 help? please thank you

  • btw i don’t own any IW games

  • SONY you dropped the ball with GTA. you had such a winner when it released for the PS2 then once it when multi-platform it lost its luster. I really hope the next one is Exclusive. meaning PS# only, I doubt it will ever happen but , STOP Letting your rival steal the thunder…….

  • This is the first time I have seen a Rockstar post in this blog. I think this is a good thing. Hopefully this will lead to more rockstar post on the PS3 exclusive Agent.

I also going to buy this DLC but not right away since I don’t have enough on PSN account to purchase. Need to get a $50 PSN card. I would buy this right now if it was on the Amazon PSN store. So that’s a hint Rockstar add this to Amazon!

  • @bigdaddycraven

We aren’t talking about Infinity Ward or Activision here. Supporting a company that takes money to keep something out of your hands sounds a bit foolish to me but I guess not being allowed to play the DLC for over a year is less important than IW not patching in vibration to an already awesome game. In other words to you Vibration > Actual Game. Last time I checked IW didn’t take money from microsoft to prevent their games from getting better on the PS3.

  • @98…no, they take MS money to have exlusive marketing rights in North America and to provide DLC to the Xbox before the PS3. Same garbage, different smell.

  • Better late than never. I’m gonna buy this from the store.

  • I know its not your fault But the game is 2 old for me now.^_^

But, nice to see it coming to PSN.

  • it wAS A TIMED EXCLUSIVE THING GUYS CHILL OUT anyway, its about time ! been playing all day and am highly happy with both episodes.

  • WIll it be free or wait for a bundle?

  • I’m sure people will buy these new “episodes”, but I will not be one of them. I also really liked GTA4, but these two additions to the game are OLD now, and no price drop at all? Give me a break. I really don’t see how anyone can be interested in either of these titles after all this time, and especially at the horrible price point they are at.

PS: The Ballad of Gay Tony? Hopefully Rockstar can come up with something with even a hint of creativity in it in future products, grow up.

  • yea….
doubt i’ll be getting this either.
did not like GTA4 and although ballad of Gay Tony is interesting. i’ll be skipping.

sorry but this took way too long, that i’ve really no interest in it anymore.
Especially since red dead redemption, super street fighter 4 and 3d dot game heroes is around the corner.

sorry R* (maybe ill get it when it gets to be 10 bux…. Maybe…)

  • is anyone elses stuck on lost and the damned mission buyers market not finishing the mission once your get your stars gone?

  • “We know PlayStation fans have been anxiously waiting for this release, and we sincerely appreciate all of your patience and support over the past year as we worked to get this game to you as soon as we possibly could.”

And by as soon as possible, you must mean as soon as the exclusivity deal ran out, no? No worries, I’d appreciate Microsoft’s money just a bit more than our patience and support too.

I might have bought this if it came at the same time as its Xbox counterpart, but, as happened with Fallout, I just don’t think I care anymore.

  • restarted level fully and fixed it

  • So does the DLC version have the content that was added for the retail version (specifically the new radio stations) along with still retaining access to GTAIV’s radio content or no? The tweet from the official PS twitter seems to make it look like all the added Blu-ray content is also available to download…

  • the moment i heard the liberty stories were coming to ps3 i felt a slap in the face by rockstar. and its not about being a fanboy and we all know rockstar has to make their money ( it is a business) but damn i remember playing gta on my ps1. and thats before xbox was out. so the exclusive deal was definitely a slap in the face for the sony community and i really hope this dlc under-sells. i know it’ll suck for sony but rockstar has to pay for their deceit.

  • I’ll pass on this and will save for Red Dead Redemption instead. Rockstar, can PS3 have timed exclusive DLC for RDR this time around?

  • Will get this after next week or so

  • I humbly suggest to wait it out until they release a bundle pack and should definitely cost cheaper.

  • DEAR ROCKSTAR you have some nerves giving us sloppy secounds you guys could have just kept that crap on the 360. and made us something new i’ll just wait until that lame game is on sale at gamestop for like 7.99 and then maybe i’ll buy it. i waited this long i can wait 2 more years . as for sony come on guys you don’t need rockstar they’re overrated screw them everything else they’ve ever made sucks let ms have them.

  • Here’s hoping Microsoft doesn’t fork over a hundred million dollars to Rockstar so that PS3 owners have to wait two years to play Red Dead Redemption. I understand business is business and its all about money but I think what Rockstar did was fowl. Oh and hey Microsoft how about actually coming up with some decent games of your own instead of placing these timed blocks on PS3 owners with multiplatform games and DLC because you cant come up with anything other then Halo and Halo 2, and Halo 3, and Halo 4 and etc…….

  • Will eventually pick this up. Still haven’t played GTA4 so I get to experience everything at once. :)

  • Hum…time heals all wounds, so they say. I sold it long after the exclusive dlc announcement. Now, I am neither angry nor happy. This news simply does not shake me, for better or worse. Sorry Sony…sorry R*. That’s just how the cookie crumbles.

  • Better late than never? That seems to be Sony’s motto this generation =(

  • Way Way too late this game honestly to most PS3 owners is not relevant any more. I hope next time you guys at Rockstar don’t do this again or ask Microsoft to pay you guys what you would lose not putting it on PS3 because I assume you are seeing far less money now than you would have seen if it wasn’t a time exclusive.
I am not buying this since I have gotten way past my GTA days especially since 4 was my least favorite in the series.

  • Rockstar, you guys have my money and my support. Keep up the good work. Can’t wait for Red Dead!

  • no thanks.. sellouts.

  • I’ve never pre-ordered anything until this came along – in Europe it was 30e, that’s 40 USD.

GTA IV was the best game I’ve ever played (over 30+ other PS3 titles) and I’m just happy to get the new episodes, even if it took a while. I can’t understand anybody complaining about sloppy seconds – business is business, and all your complaining adds up to is that you’re not playing the game.

If you’re really men (or women) enough, then boycott Rockstar and don’t buy RDR either.

  • When it arrives in the uk, im hoping to buy it asap. Thanks for bringing it over to PS3, and i also can’t wait for any other future GTAs too

  • Honestly GTA4 was garbage it tried to play realistically and ended up making the game feel way out of its element plus the online was horrible the game would have been better off not having it or make the game coop. As for the dlc a year later-check, $10 more expensive than its 360 counterpart or $20 bucks more for both-check. “Better later than never,” I think never for this dlc wouldn’t hurt anyone since we all moved on rather quickly from kz2-2009 to gow3-2010.

  • about damn time

  • & STILL NO” ADD-ONS FROM ROCKSTAR “?????? PRETTY LAME GAMES ROCKSTAR PRETTY LAME ” NEED ADD-ON content for you to grab MY attention ????????????????????

  • You people need to grow up and get it right, blame Take-Two (and the awful financial shape they are in)they’re the ones in charge.

  • JIMMY STFU ” DOWN WITH ROCKSTAR ” WE NEED SPLINTER CELL conviction ‘…… no ROCKSTAR ” UBISOFT ” SPLINTER CELL conviction “………………………..

  • HEY JIMMY DEFINE IQ PREREQUISTE”?

  • I”m sorry ill wait for price drop im not paying for this at that price.. Some of you guys comments sicken me you supportiing someone screwing you around thats really bad!! Do you understand when you support this no sense that is reason you get incomplete games, companies are taking things out the original games and selling for extra profit as downloadable content… Just be a little more alert when someone selling you a dream.. I care for Gamers in general so i had respond to this Blog entry.. Have great day fellas..

  • Can anyone confirm the difference between boxed and PSN version?

  • Thanks Rockstar for at least releasing the content on the PS3! I bought it and I’m enjoying it so far. It will give me something to do until Rockstar releases Red Dead Redemption, which I will be picking up for sure also.

  • I don’t blame Rockstar games for taking MS’ money. I would do the same thing. If anything, I find it funny that MS paid $50,000,000 and it comes out on PS3 anyway!

Besides, if there’s anyone to blame, it’s not Rockstar, it’s Ken Kutaragi, who was directly responsible for Sony losing a lot of its exclusivity back in the day. Luckily, he “resigned,” so Sony got back on track to where they had to be. But if you read old interviews, Rockstar were completely expecting him to contact them and make a deal for GTAIV to be PS3-only, but he was convinced that everyone had to come and kiss his ring. Meanwhile, Peter Moore at MS was being aggressive. It was Kutaragi’s arrogance that cost us this time.

And as I said, if you were expecting one of your friends to ask you to do them a favor, and you were perfectly willing to do it, all they have to do is call, and they don’t call, while on the other hand, a guy you barely know calls, offers you a lot of money to do the same thing for him, who are you going to go with?

My only complaint about this is that it doesn’t appear that the new radio stations are on the DLC. That bothers me a great deal. I was VERY much looking forward to hearing Fernando DJ again.

  • This is the reason I’m going to buy GTAIV for PS3 (I had the other version, but my “other” console bit the dust and I didn’t get a chance to try this). I’ve actually been looking forward to the Ballad of Gay Tony, seems very different and more exciting than the default story.

Definite buy when I get payed.

  • By the way guys, stop crying over this ‘exclusive for a year’ deal. You do remember these very guys are making “Agent” exclusively for PS3, right? THAT’S A FULL GAME FOR PS3 ONLY, not just some DLC.

But I wouldn’t be surprised, nor would I hold it against them, if all of these kids disrespectful responses to this changed their mind about that being an exclusive.

  • This is the funkiest GTA Trailer I’ve ever seen in my life, just listen to the song?!?!?!?!? XO

  • Holy! everyone here is complaining! why?

I never owned the xbox version because sadly my xbox broke after 5ish hours of total play time… yea.

I don’t care if rockstar made this a time exclusive or are selling it for $10 more then the 360 version (but remember PS3’s are so amazing in graphics they have to sell it a bit more, also BLU-RAY FTW! screw those dumb old DVD’s xbox uses.)

I didn’t feel like going to walmart or buying it on the psn so I ordered a NEW copy from amazon.ca

I can’t wait to play it! Rockstar has never let me down with any of the grand theft autos. I think I am a true GTA fan, all you complainers are just stupid.

  • I’m sorry but 1 year later and you really think people will be guillable to buy this?

You where given $50 million for the DLC, for exlusive episodical content for the 360, now you want us to fork out money for the same stuff they got?

It should be free for those who actually stayed on GTA IV instead of moving onto Saints Row 2, which did give us DLC by the way, not a year later neither

  • Too little, too late in my opinion.

  • 20 each…your out of your mind.

DLs shouldn’t be the same price as the retail.

Also, your too late I’d rather spend 40 on something new. Next time release it when its still fresh.

  • No thanks, you can keep them.

Any future R* games will be purchased second hand, if at all.

  • I’ll buy them, but I will wait the price drops. I really have other priorities now.
