We are proud to announce that the highly-anticipated, long-awaited release of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City (including both The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony) for PlayStation 3 – is here. We know PlayStation fans have been anxiously waiting for this release, and we sincerely appreciate all of your patience and support over the past year as we worked to get this game to you as soon as we possibly could.

As most of you may know, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City is two complete game experiences as episodes set in Liberty City: The Lost and Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Both games are included on one disc, and do not require a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV to play (though if you do own GTAIV, you can also purchase and download the episodes digitally via the PlayStation Network).

Here’s just a taste of what you’ll find in Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City:

  • New missions and storylines
  • New weapons, including a grenade launcher, sawed-off shotgun, and sticky bombs
  • Enhanced physics for motorcycles, as well as new vehicles (yes, including a tank)
  • New radio, internet, and television content
  • New multiplayer modes and locations
  • Full PSN Trophy support

  • Don’t support Rockstar and it’s DLC. They sold out to Microsoft and now they want to cash in on the last priority marketing. It’s been out for so long and now we’re just getting it. They’re just trying to cash in on some old DLC. They slapped us in the face by giving us nothing when Microsoft got 2 DLCs. Now they’re putting a big middle finger in our faces.

  • Sorry, I’m not interested in buying this DLC. I’ll wait for Red Dead.

  • Not sure if i will get it.

The only reason Microsoft wanted it first was to hurt the PS3 and you guys at Rockstar seemed to forget that us PlayStation Fans made GTA’s a success for you![on the PS1 & PS2] :-/

I know it is all about money but you should of said to MS no and given it to us last year as well.

  • Your guy’s loss.

Ballad of gay tony is what GTA needed! awesome new vehicles and weapons along with cool new bike physics and parachuting.

  • best $50 I have ever spent. Even though I don’t have it in my hand yet (its in the mail) I am still proud to say “I OWN EVERY SINGLE GTA EVER MADE!”

  • No thanks Rockstar. I liked GTA4, but I am not going to give you money to reward you for DENYING US THIS CONTENT for such a long time.

  • no platinum trophies?
so what does “full psn trophy support” mean exactly?

  • I think you received enough money from M$ already you dont need mine

  • Wow and I thought the 360 crowd was bad.

  • First off i want to say Thank You R* for bringing these two awesome peices of gtaIV dlc to the ps3. Lots of people complain and moan about the MS exclusivity deal but honestly i can care less. I would rather have the content late than never at all. I downloaded both episodes off PSN and have no problems with gtaiv being required to play them, but i do have a question which is why does TLOD and TBgT require the gtaiv disc?

  • Only problem I have is the price point is way to high for the material. Should be discounted due to how long it took to arrive on the platform. I know MS paid for the time but consumers expect the discount. I have no problem with the whole time exclusive. MS wants to give you a crap ton of money well its just good business sense to take it.

  • All those who dont seem to get why many are so mad at cRockStar for making us WAIT SO LONG and CHARGING US SO MUCH are the ignorant fools who spend thier money unwisely. You FOOLS are the reason the rich get richer >:P Me..im NEVER paying full price for another cRockStar game..thanks to them im so use to waiting..so now i can wait for a great deal say 35 buks used from a FOOL who paid FULL PRICE :p

  • @167, so i should be considered a “fool” because i paid full price for a game? i think that’s a big shortsighted to say the least pal. I see a game, i buy it. Simple, money isn’t an issue. Are you a fool for buying a game used? of course not. Your sticking to your budget constraints and that’s definitely understandable.

  • Just Cause 2 = more fun

  • Wow, this game is $50 in Canada. Whose bright idea was that?

  • Rockstar wants Money and not a fan base. Good luck with that=) Still have never beat GTA IV when I do I will buy this (wich may never happen)LOL.

  • The Xbox 360 version is way totally better!

  • The disc not requiring the original game is an awesome option and I’m extremely glad that Rockstar decided to distribute the dlc this way.

I chose the PS3 version of GTA IV because of free PSN versus costly XBL. I was debating on getting the episodes disc for Xbox 360, but was holding out just in case it came to PS3. Glad I did. I’m still getting the disc, not the dlc though.

  • why don’t you try playing a game outside !! or go fishing ! there is no exclusive on that game !!!it’s spingtime for god sake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Who cares if this came out later. That doesn’t change the game, the story or the fun. I don’t understand why it matters?

  • I have a couple of issues with this package. Well, make it three. First of all, the game is more expensive than the 360 version, second of all, it requires the original GTA IV game disk (that the 360 version didn’t require).

Third of all, this content was available for a year on a competing system *only* because of a cash payout by Microsoft. I believe the term ‘sloppy seconds’ really does apply here.

Rockstar, why the increase in price, the excess restrictions on playing it, and why the sellout?

  • I’m sorry if this has been asked already;
me and my brother both have disc versions of GTA4 on the PS3, if I bought and downloaded the DLC on one account onto both systems, can we play each other online?

  • i have a question: Whats the size of each downloads??? im a little bit short of space now(like 6 gig) an also they come in a bundle or something???40 bucks for both seems too much for an old gama no…

  • ” We know PlayStation fans have been anxiously waiting for this release, and we sincerely appreciate all of your patience and support over the past year as we worked to get this game to you as soon as we possibly could”

I don’t think that waiting for an exclusivity deal to expire can be catalogued as “work”. Sorry R*, I’m not buying your story nor your content.

  • @179 – You don’t need the original GTA IV if you buy the discs. You only need it if you download the DLC. In fact, on the back of the box it says DOES NOT REQUIRE GTA IV or something to that effect.

    183 – Both DLC’s are around 2 gig each.

  • @168 i never said buying a NEW GAME is a FOOLISH thing to do..im saying buying that DLC is a foolish thing to do..that price is ridiculous..WE as in you me and all the other ps3 gamers should atleast get a fair price..many say money isnt an issue..your right..its a concern..u have to use your money wisely.I buy new games..but since im such a “SoNyFanMan”..i only buy XCLUSIVE GAMES..the other NON Xclusive games can suck the 60 buks out of everyone else..im buying it used for half or less…I PITTY THE FOOL!:P

  • You do know you spelled “pity,” “bucks,” and “exclusive” wrong.

As for me, I don’t own a 360, so these are new to me. I don’t mind paying the $20 each. It’s money well spent and I’ve been getting my other PS3 owning friends excited about this. Four of them have already bought it.

  • @14 They were not cheaper on XBL they are listed at 1600 MS points and 1600 point cards go for 24.99 so it was more expensive on XBL lol

  • I’m ok with the delay since we had exclusivity for the original GTA IV for a year as well BUT what is wrong here is the price they are asking for. Ninja Gaiden Sigma has the decency of adding content for the price they ask from a dated game so I believe Rockstar should have done the same. I know it’s business but they must understand that in a long term period gamers will remember this and what they did with XBOX will come back to haunt them. Rockstar should be more careful with the public and also with the medias… They are building themselves a bad reputation with violent titles and rely on us, the gamers, but nowadays they are beginning to be less rebellious and more arrogant. Beware Rockstar, because if we, the consumers, let you down, you won’t be able to survive considering the medias and even governments worldwide condemn your games. And next time don’t talk to us as if we’re stupid and uninformed, we all knew you sold exclusivity to XBOX and saying you did your best to release these DLCs was BS…

  • I still wish there was a workaround for AWP, but I will still be getting this. One day I will have 100% on GTAIV

  • finaly there is another gta i love them. there is just one problem lots of people want gta in psp.

  • Sorry Rockstar, but that ship has sailed.

  • Sorry Rockstar, but I will not spend my hard earned money to those that sold us out. GTA4 is and will be my last purchase from you so pls stay on the 360 side of the fence. The grass is “greener” over there.

  • I will buy it when the price goes down and I have nothing else to play…

  • ah whatever, I dont even have GTAIV, will purchase in a bundle at 40 bucks the main game and DLC, now, its too expensive, have been waiting for like 2 years, I can wait more, no rush here, price down please.

  • Downloaded my copy of the Ballad of Gay Tony a few hours ago, its pretty good.

  • I’ve been waiting for these two dlc’s but I’m so behind on my other games with GOW3, Heavy Rain and a few others where there’s no way I’d have to to get into it now.

I’ll get it later when the price drops (hopefully) and I have mroe time to dedicate to it as I know how hooked I get sometimes with GTA games in the past.

  • Wow, looks like a bunch of 5 year olds complaining. Peopole who are criticizing Rockstar for “selling out” obviously are not Business Majors, as maximizing your profts is the #1 concern when running any sort of business or corporation and that is all Rockstar did here. They don’t bleed black & gray PS3 colors like we do. And Rockstar did, in fact, offer the content before all this, as Glacier pointed out.

  • You really want us purchase this port? your games are so overrated btw u are one of the greediest developers

  • Gamefly here I come. I will not support developers who shell out extra content to the other systems and intentionally lie to their consumers.

  • No thank-you, The game is played out now, And at this point nobody really cares about this anymore. Rockstar is trying to score more cash out of a dying franchise. They can take this garbage and shove it back to (the other guys.) We don’t want it here. This is Playstation Nation, Not leftover city!!!

    I’m just saying…

  • $40 bux for DLC is over the top. Reduce the price to $20 and I’ll buy it.

  • Are you kidding? and at 20$? No thanks. at least lower the price. I just picked up Assassins Creed for 15 bucks at EB, I think you can do better for a year old Add-on content.

  • i bought the disc of episodes for 360, not knowing it was ever coming here, what, last fall? man, if i only knew. still, im gonna download ’em so i can experience them they way it should be, as DLC for GTA IV. and btw Rockstar, DO NOT listen to the negative reviews from noob sissy punk c-suckers…GTA is GTA, and i hope you aim to keep it that way.

  • “We know PlayStation fans have been anxiously waiting for this release, and we sincerely appreciate all of your patience and support over the past year as we worked to get this game to you as soon as we possibly could.”

Tsk, tsk, R* first you sell us off, and then you got the nerve to lie about it by stating that crappy excuse? and just to add insult to injury you decide to sell it at double the price point (compared to the 360 at 9.99 ea).

I enjoyed 4, but not enough to take this kind of corporal garbage.

  • Wow some of these people on here are very ungrateful. R* didn’t sell out to MS, they just didn’t want to turn down that money, and alot of money it was! Anyone here that can say they would turn down 50 MILLION DOLLARS just for a timed exclusive deal, cast the 1st stone! R* is 3rd party, video games are expensive to make people! And besides you got it didn’t you? They could have just forgotten us PS3 gamers completely but instead gave us the chance to play these ourselves. If you ask me, this is a very classy act on R*’s part and I support them for this. And besides, they are making an exclusive game “Agent” just for PS3 so stop complaining!

  • Oh yeah, and the only reason I dont have these yet is I dont have enough money at the moment but I will sooner or later. And Im surprised they bought this to PS3 considering how childish some ps3 owners are. Guess that just shows how classy R* is.

  • @korgon

Well said. PS3 gets Agent. 360 gets timed exclusivity for two episodes, one of which was only exclusive for four months before it was announced for PS3. Not only that but the PS3 versions actually benefited from being delayed. On 360, the disc version uses an updated version of the map that the DLC version of TLAD didn’t have, so the two versions were incompatible. That’s apparently been fixed on PS3.

PS3 owners make out much better in the end. As of right now, 360 owners have nothing more than the ability to say “I played it first”.

  • ps3 users always end up with the better experience.
and to be honest the experience of online on the xbox360 IS BAD!

the first day i went online on my xbox360 was also my last, my god are there allot of screaming kids on there.
    PS3 is much better.

  • rockstar did rip-off microsoft good!
kudos to sony for not falling into that trap ;)
