Early in the history of PlayStation Home, leading developers embraced the platform as a means to expand players’ gaming experiences via content that unlocked in-world after certain performance milestones were reached in-game. The PlayStation 3 community reacted very positively to this type of game integration, rushing into PlayStation Home to gather rewards from games such as Batman: Arkham Asylum, Street Fighter IV, Mega Man 10, White Knight Chronicles, Tekken 6, Resident Evil 5, PixelJunk Shooter, and many more.
Tomorrow, April 15th, we take the next step in the evolution of the platform with the release of the SOCOM OPFOR game space, which will allow fans of the franchise to assemble an assault weapon in a PlayStation Home mini-game and then load out into SOCOM: Confrontation with a fully-playable Golden AK-47 – an exclusive weapon only available to the most skilled players who can successfully complete the aforementioned mini-game in 12 seconds or less. Associate Producer KC Coleman had this to say about this landmark event in PlayStation Home history:
The ability [for PlayStation Home users] to unlock the Golden AK-47 in SOCOM: Confrontation is a huge step forward for Home as a platform and for the fans of the PS3 in general. We’ve long prided ourselves on being able to expand the experience of favorite PS3 titles by creating complementary content in Home, but this is the first time we’ve brought that experience back around to the disc game.
It’s truly a win-win-win situation. It’s a win for Home because we have opened up a huge door that will allow developers to continue to blur the line between PlayStation Home and PS3 games. It’s a win for SOCOM: Confrontation as a title because it allows them to continue to offer great content to players. And, of course, it’s a win for the millions of fans of Home and SOCOM: Confrontation because they get exclusive, meaningful, and 100% free content that is unlocked not from merely downloading an expansion pack, but by playing a fun game.

This week will see the introduction of the hugely-popular Monkey Island franchise into the ever-growing world of PlayStation Home. Show your affinity for our hapless hero Guybrush Peepwood…err, I mean Threepwillow…err, I mean, Threepwood, by heading to the PlayStation Home Mall this Thursday and picking up the has-to-be-seen-to-be-believed Ghost Pirate Ship personal space (complete with rewards), the tons of associated furniture items (available in massive bundles at reduced prices), and the array of Monkey Island costumes (LeChuck, Elaine Marley, Stan the Salesman, and, of course, Mr. Fancy Pants himself).
Also releasing (or should I say, re-releasing) this week is the new and improved Gamer’s Lounge. Named by the PlayStation Home community, for the PlayStation Home community, the Gamer’s Lounge has been redesigned completely at the behest and request of our most loyal users. We’ve added music, a Liar’s Dice mini-game, a ticker that pulls directly from the official PlayStation Twitter account (so you can stay up to date with all of the official PlayStation news without having to log out of PlayStation Home), and a survey that rewards participants with a special virtual item.
The Gamer’s Lounge will now host our daily Featured Game parties, which have previously been held at the Listen@Home kiosk in Central Plaza. These daily events serve as a rallying point for the PlayStation Home community to meet up with friends new and old and launch into the latest and greatest PS3 and PSN titles. For the unveiling of the new and improved Gamer’s Lounge, we will be challenging one another to multiplayer matches of UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves. Come out on launch night between the hours of 4:00pm and 8:00pm PT (7:00pm and 11:00pm EST) to take part in some UNCHARTED 2 action, and then come back over the weekend to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, MLB 10: The Show, and Aliens vs. Predator.

If they add it again to Home will you all find something else to complain about please.. you all are sounding like a broken record. I dont see any good reason to add it back to Home. I think the implementation of a HOME mini-game unlocking an item for the game (Socom) is a big step in the right direction. Please continue to move in this direction.

if your going to post videos on the PLAYSTATION blog, can you at least make them viewable on my PLAYSTATION 3? it just says “this application is not supported.” This is my homepage, the only site i go to on my ps3 and all i ask is that i can watch these videos posted on the blog so i know whats going on without having to use my pc, its just so convenient to have the ps blog on my tv.

@ 57.. let me tell you this.. We all want public Voice chat back, for me it kept me on Home for hours, and hours.. I really didnt complain about anything.. just because you dont like it, doesnt mean anybody else dont.. Public Voice Chat brought fun to Home…talking to friends in public, playing and talking freely in public, just dancing and listening to music, freely in public with cool people,dancing.. the Home music is not popular at all.. everytime We ask about all these features, like TVS, AND RADIOS, POOL TABLES, Our question hardly get answered, Are yall working on these features, please let us know whats going on ??? Home is NOTHING without the main features, we all been asking for the longest, We would all like a word..

1. Will we ever get to listen to our music off of our Playstation 3’s on Home?
2. What ever happen to the shrinking and growing potions as promised in the 1.35 update?
3. Will their ever be public voice chat?
And 4. Why do we have beds if we can’t lay in them and we seriously need some good dance moves so why not add some good one like breakdancing and the body pop sucks so that needs to be updated too. Thank You For Your Time.

What is the answer regarding whether Monkey Island 1 & 2 will be released on PSN?
^ The reason i ask is because it is weird to add that to Home, meanwhile the actual remake is only available on a competing system. Put this out on PSN pronto so i can buy it. Need a reason to revisit those two games, i grew up on them.

I guess you enjoyed talking to your friends and having a random person run up and blast Hanson into your speakers. And then have 50 year old perverts saying sick stuff before you had a chance to mute them. I can pretty much guarentee you wont ever get it back. Sony doesnt want it obviously. Theres no way to censor what people say. Maybe they should let us try it again for a week and maybe I will find all the complainers and show them why its a horrible idea. I’m betting you were just one of those people who had to play there rap or whatever music you like to get attention. Maybe you should try complaining about more important issues about home. Or maybe world hunger for that matter. Take all this effort you put out and use it for something useful. The only suggestion I have about Home right now would be to make the video screens in our clubs work
i found the pieces, i did the test and don’t have the golden AK unlocked in confrontation. is there a another hoop i need to jump through?
iv got all of the parts of golden ak assemballed it in under 12 seconds and still nothing on my socom:confrontation game what else do i need to do to get it

Home is not, a Home.. they are missing out on a lot of features, to maKE It a Home.. the main features..we all, repeatly been asking about for the longest. All these useless junk that they sell, whats the purpose of it, right to show friends..umm this so call Home is like a dollhouse.. give us the Home that was introduce to us in the early stages of Home in 2007..dont forget about public Voice Chat, make it better, and improve it, so the few, dont have to worry about anyone calling them names.. Am sure you all smart to know what to do to make Public Voice Chat a success, for both parties..2010 I expect, and others for Home to start to spice up a bit. Read the fourms on daily , to make your platform a success..Peace
to have public voice chat, you would need one MOD per Home user. You see they can easily read any text, but listening to all conversations with microphones would be impossible. Again, there is no way to censor your voice, and to make voice recordings show up in a report would cost money. Sony doesnt have to take any of our suggestions, and yet they are nice enough to do so. Home is THEIR program. Put it this way… people can all suggest that they let us run around in our birthday suits, but that isn’t in the best interest for Sony. Like you said, it was fun for you.. but that is no reason to add it again. Some people say being a pervert is fun, but that doesnt mean Sony will suddenly encourage us to say sick things. You should try thinking of new ideas that have never been in Home, instead of living in the past

Why is the Lucasarts stuff so overpriced? That Home space is horrible, offers no mini-games, has music that wont stop, yet is $2 more than usual.
