PlayStation Comics Store Update

+ Posted by Grace Chen // Director, PlayStation Store

Hello everyone. Here’s this week’s Digital Comic Store Update:

PlayStation Comic Store - Kick-Ass

Now a major motion picture, Kick-Ass is set in a world very similar to ours, where superheroes only exist in comic books, movies and (of course) the PSP. From the Wolverine: Enemy of the State dream team of Mark Millar (Civil War) and John Romita Jr (Amazing Spider-Man, World War Hulk), 8 foul-mouthed issues of Kick-Ass arrive on the Digital Comics store today.

Other highlights this week include the fourth and final episode of Insomnia’s majestic Burke & Hare, another Vampire Hunter D from Digital Manga Publishing, and the long-awaited follow-up to Sláine: Book of Invasions from 2000AD.

If all of this seems a little too much for all you sensitive souls out there, there’s more Wallace & Gromit, more Disney, and The One Where Archie Marries Veronica :/

Here’s the full list:

Please bring this content to Canada.

Is it even being considered?
Besides PS blog share who would I contact about bringing this feature to the Canadian audience?

It would kick-ass if the “it only does everything” PS3 could be used as well to enjoy comics.

Does anybody agree with me that we should have the game’s store updated before the comic’s? If we all agree, hopefully it’s possible for Sony to update the game store before the comic store.

Exactly what #3 and #8 said.

I’d would love to read comics on my PS3 but I would love it even more if they were even available for Canadians. I understand copyrights and whatnot when it comes to movies but comics? There’s no reason those can’t be released here.

I agree, it would be great if the Game Store update was posted, and hosted before the Comic Store.

@9 why does it matter what time the PSN Store update? what matter is that the store get updated on a weekly bases.

@11 thank u for agreeing with me, hopefully others will too, if anybody wants, they can post this idea on blog share before I do tomorrow if i remember.

@12 true, but a lot of us are very impatient when it comes to store updates and I’m not sure how many gamers actually are interested in the comic store over the game store in terms of content or whether they prefer one over the other despite the quality. I don’t mean to sound hurtful or anything, I’m just speaking out for people who prefer to see the game store updated before the comic’s since the comic store updates a few hours before the game store. I know I can wait a few more hours, it’s just a suggestion.

@3, 10

It’s not copyrights, they still got issues with the program accepting multiple languages.
The team responsible for its been quite fortunate in keeping us in the light about this.

However it would be nice to ask for some support getting the movie store here.

I’m pretty happy, more Vampire Hunter D (this time with the correct price in the blog, so sad it’s so much) and more Wallace & Gromit. Still, other Manga would be appreciated too.

Is it wrong that I’m 30 and like the Disney comics? I haven’t bought any, but I’ve really enjoyed the free ones. I might actually buy a few eventually even though I’m not really a comic reader. I like the ones with the characters from Ducktales.

+ MrSignal on April 16th, 2010 at 7:01 am said:

@26,

The resistance comics are sadly not going to be available due to the publisher, Wildstorm being an imprint(or subsidiary) of DC. Double checked in a copy of the prototype comic to be sure of this.

They might want to do some more interaction between groups next time to avoid something like this, eh.
