Now back to me.

Sadly, you probably haven’t looked at the video yet, because you’re still reading this.

  • Wow, look at that video!

  • that’s the second time I’ve seen that “sketch>” Is it from anything?

  • Huh?…….Looks like an interesting game. Might have to give it a try. 39.99 isn’t too bad.

  • Hahah! Loved how the video mimicked the Old Spice commercial guy! That commercial ROCKED and so did the video. I haven’t been paying much attention to this game, but I may have to look into it!

  • Omg, that was hilarious.

  • that was the ideal commercial to parody, and it was done well. i’m looking forward to this game.

  • I preordered this 2 months ago.

    CANT WAIT

  • Hmm… I think the tank looks better actually :P

  • First Day Buy for this guy. It’s going to be a great game. Can’t wait!

  • I will have you know that I have pre-ordered this game. From Software is really starting to make a name for themselves, and I hope they continue to push out these cult classics.

Aram, your youtube video for the Demon’s Souls Deluxe Edition was awesome!

    • mywhitenoise,

Thank you. I assume you’re referring to the one in which I went anteater on the packaging? ;)

  • in stores only or will it be on PSN too?this game looks hilarious and fun, but what exactly do you do in it other than make heros and stuff?

    • dinene1,

3D Dot Game Heroes is retail-only; there will be no digital/PSN release.

Simply put, it is a retro-styled action-adventure that pays tribute to 8- and 16-bit classics. Combat is real-time, you’re given a big, lush world to explore (and there are plenty of secrets to uncover and funny NPCs to talk to), and there are big, puzzle-filled dungeons to conquer.

I would recommend checking out some of the reviews linked at the bottom of the original post to get an even better idea of what it is all about.

      Thanks for being interested!

  • i’m pre-ordering this game next week. i just wish their was a special Edition for $10 more with a Sound Track and a Hero figure ( maybe one that you can build out of the pieces it comes with ) i can’t wait for this game thanks for the awesome video !

One other question Aram abit off Topic but something to do with gaming from the Past

i was wondering back in the Playstation 1 days Atlus released a game too North America and i was wondering IF it was to be released again * PS1 Classic * would it be through you guys or the original owner of the game i’m talking about the Awesome Tactical RPG game known as Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together ( a remake of the game in HD would even be kickin ! )

Thanks for releasing Great Games Atlus ! 3D Dot Game Heroes is getting my Money !

    • JamesSoprano,

      Thanks in advance for pre-ordering!

As for Tactics Ogre (PSX), I believe we have and continue to explore new possibilities, including a PS®One classic release, but there are no developments on that front at this time. It is important to note that often, based on how long it’s been since release, there are significant hurdles to overcome in re-releasing a title, even digitally.

We’re certainly aware of how beloved the game is and we will continue to explore every option at our disposal.

      Thanks for the comment!

  • From release to time that someone makes either a breast or phallus character to time that it gets shown on YouTube = less than ten minutes.

  • ok ok it does look to have some promise, but i will not be buying this at 39.99 as it stands. if it were to be 24.99 i would probably buy it then, but i just am not willing to fork out that kind of money for a game that currently has snes type graphics as the mainplay. i for one just cannot justify going so far backwards with graphics for the price. i know there are those who are going to be in love with this game at the onset, an believe me i honestly hope you enjoy, but i want something more for my buck.
sorry if i have upest anyone in the process.

    • megalodonshark,

No need to apologize for sharing your opinion. It’s tough these days to justify spending any amount of money on games, especially with an economy still on the mend.

That said, I do think you’ll reconsider your stance on the visuals in 3D Dot Game Heroes if you ever see it in person/motion. They are in fact quite easy on the eyes (again, maybe some of that is lost in stills and compressed videos).

Also, and this might just be an older gamer talking, but visuals aren’t everything… :)

I hope you get a chance to try the game out in person and see what you think of it.

      Thanks for the comment.

  • the vid and the game is full of win! XD

  • I want this game. A lot.

  • Pre-ordered! I can not wait for this game to be released!

  • HAHAHA I got it, I love that Old Spice commercial too!! It is funny as hell!!

  • My hero will be Aram Jabbari.

  • how many ‘local’ players does 3D Dot Game Heroes support? can my wife and I play it together? :)

    • brindy666,

There is no multiplayer in 3D Dot Game Heroes, so simultaneous play would not be possible. Still, you’re not limited in number of saves nor characters created in the editor, so you could certainly both enjoy the same copy and play with each other’s custom heroes.

  • I love Atlus :) I’ve been meaning to buy more of your games. I’ll definitely get this game, been looking forward to it for a while! :D

  • I see about 20 minutes of gimmicky nostalgia followed by a new $39 coaster for my drink.

  • Haha! Nice! I cannot wait to pick this game up!! BIG thank you for publishing this game in the states. I cannot thank you enough for bringing us Demon’s Souls and now this… so awesome. *tears of joy*

  • Sony, I have to admit, your videos in general are getting a hell of a lot better, granted, this one is courtesy of Atlus.

Still yet, you’re getting better. I better see some Kevin Butler love when it comes to a TV spot for this game.

  • I pre-ordered this right after it was dated last year.

    The wait is killing me.

I wish they would go ahead and release the character editor as a ‘demo’ so we could get a jump on making our characters.

  • $40? This is a DAY ONE!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Atlus for continually putting out quality products in the USA. First Demon’s Souls, now This? You guys rock.

  • Hey Aram! Out of curiosity: Will we get similar treatments from you like what From Software supplied many customizable parts/data(s) on Japanese PSN Store? I mean same characters, levels or whatever? I hope we will!

    • TrueFFVIIFan,

We’re planning to host a hub site that’ll allow 3D Dot Game Heroes players to exchange their creations as easily as possible. You’ll still need a USB flash drive or some way to get the files onto a computer in order to upload, but we should see a great exchange of ideas on day one.

  • Oh one more thing. I forgot to add this question: Will there be any special pre-order bonus(es) we will be getting if we pre-order this game? Please say yes…. *Sobs*… Please…

    • TrueFFVIIFan,

      I saw your follow up a micro-second after I pressed “Submit” :)

There are no pre-order bonus items for 3D Dot Game Heroes. The bonus, in our opinion, is the super-duper $39.99 price point. We know really eager fans would love an extra or two, but passing savings onto our customers is something we view as a bonus, too.

      Thanks for the questions!

  • Looks at the video.. Now goes buy game. :P can’t wait to play it!

  • old spice and 3d dot heroes two great taste that taste great together.

  • Hilarious!

  • You guys slay me. To death!

  • Great stuff. A whistling, fish-swinging tank, sounds like a killer selling point.

This game already had me at hello, though, as I’ve pretty much preordered this game a while back. Can’t wait for it to arrive at my door.

  • Just saw it got a 5/5 on playstationlifestyle
I can’t wait for this game, I <3 me some retro.

  • Whoever did the ad, give them a raise.

  • If the character creator is as awesome as you say it is, I for one am going to make a BUNCH of characters to play as. first and foremost, Link. yup. then maybe a solid snake, and then some other awesome PlayStation characters…. hrmmm, maybe some of the characters from half minute hero?

    The possibilities seem endless.

  • What this game is actually about?

  • @37 it’s about old spice

  • How about some 3D Dot avatars or themes for PSN?

  • Best Video Ever.

  • Cool. — But, can’t watch video on my PS3..

  • Hahaha, great stuff there. Could have used some quicker transitions in the video to make it snappier, but great stuff regardless.

  • It would be nice, on my brand new, PS3, bought at the Sony Store, actually displayed all content from PS websites, such as that in this post, and not give me the dreaded ANS message(Application Not Supported). Highly frustrating.

Why not post this in the support forum? Because I had an update that seemed to fix this…then, coincidentally, a MAG update came thru, and now I get ANS’s again. Originally, I was going to post there about youtube videos not working…but that ANS message really bummed me out…

    Please, release an update already…
    Thanks

    PS Kevin Butler rules
PPS License the audio playback function from MS already and put xbox out of its misery already. Then again, given all the stupid useless spam sent by users, most likely xbox’er, maybe keeping Xbox around might keep the dolts off Playstation…(couldn’t you track those messages to their origination and issue a warning? Of course you could…maybe you have, but if not, please go right on a head and create a page where the offending msg can be copied to and uploaded so you can track it. You need to nip this in the bud asap. Its no security threat, but its definitely annoying)

  • LOL genius ad! Old Spice spoof! XD this makes me more interested in the game now :D

  • Cant wait to get my hands on this game!

  • oh and btw, make Demons souls 2!!! it would be my most anticipated game of 2011, that would be awesome

  • The game looks great! I’m hoping it’s appropriate for my 8 year old. Keep up the ‘awesome’ award winning games.

    • LILBUDDY2000,

With an E10+ rating and no blood, realistic violence, gore, sexual/adult content, or profanity, there really shouldn’t be anything objectionable for your 8 year old.

It’s always a good idea, however, for you to give the game a quick try first yourself to ensure it meets your own personal standards of appropriateness.

Thank you for the comment. We hope you enjoy the game!

  • @ 15 I was taken aback by the heavy pixelization as well , but realized it was very nostalgic . Everyone has their own criteria for determining whats worth buying . So I will only say this for myself . I stopped considering graphics only when i realized that alot of graphically superior games in my collection … has really inferior gameplay.

  • THIS is how you market a game.

Hopefully EA is taking notes on this before we get another Dante’s Inferno type marketing blitz. *shudder*
