Hi everyone, in our continued effort to provide the best, most comprehensive entertainment experience possible, we’ll be adding a few new features to PlayStation 3 (PS3) via the latest system software update, which is a mandatory update and will be available shortly. Most notably, you’ll see some new sorting options within Trophies that make it easier to claim bragging rights among your friends on PlayStation Network.
- Trophy enhancements –- Now you can more easily sort trophies in the [Trophy Collection] and [Comparing Trophy] sections. Sorting can be done with [Trophy Collection] in the [Game Category] and also when comparing trophies with your friends in the [Friend Category]
- Trophy Folder (Title List) can be sorted by game name/ by title according to the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
- Add-on list (Group list) can be sorted by original/the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
- Trophy list can be sorted by original/trophy name/grade/date of obtaining the trophy (ascending/descending)
In addition, this update preps the PS3 system for some upcoming new features, including 3D stereoscopic gaming, which is coming soon to PS3, in time for the launch of Sony’s 3D BRAVIA TVs.

For everyone, HDMI 1.3 is incapable of HD and 3D at the same time… You need a PS3 with HDMI 1.4 that doesn’t exist at the moment.

Update only took me about 10 minutes to load and install. If it takes you two hours, maybe you need to either use a wired connection or a better internet service.
Any by the way, they don’t specifically say this firmware update includes 3DTV support, but that it “preps” the system for upcoming features. Since these features will likely need another firmware update in any case, it’s quite likely just mentioned as an excuse to make this update “mandatory”.
How big is the file and i where can i download it off my computer plzzz!!!

Does this update include the feature to remove trophy support from users who do not want it? No? Then I couldn’t care about this update. Trophies ruined gaming, and I can’t even play my favorite RPG, Resonance of Fate without staring at the annoying pop-up that was causing major issues with load… actually save times since I finished each chapter and the time it took to save got longer and longer, because it too longer and longer for YOUR STUPID TROPHY TO POP-UP!!!
Although the chapter complete trophies look good for RoF, they are just a distraction for a really great game. I only use compare trophy to look up a friend and say “how far is he in X” so I don’t spoil when I msg them, which I always prefer to ask. I’d like to remove 100% of all trophy functionality from my PSN, that’s probably too much to ask but I’d love to make it an option.
Also setting up 3d support? That is just asking me to walk away from gaming… PERMANENTLY!
any way to include the ability to listen to music while still browsing through, say trophies, or maybe other songs ?
Let us arrange things they way we want them not by a list of options. e
For instance why can’t I have my music the way I want it.
Band name > albums > Track listed the way they are suppose to be.
Give us a way to sort our media. And also fix the browser because right now it doesn’t do EVERYTHING. It can’t even play youtube.

What waste of a update no 1 cares Not to be rude but PS Users ask for way better features than what your supplying us with (great example Xbox360 features in game chat messaged audio in game music and any others that THE Playstation Users asked for) but thanks though
@Hsanrb i love the tropys, an i never have the problem you just mentend but then agian i never heard of Resonance of Fate, but FF13 is a RPG an never had problems or any other game that has tropys
@515 TheZanpanman: have you tried to reset the hdmi (video setting) by holding the power button on stand-by until you hear it beeps twice. had this issue when I connected it to a new TV.

I actually like what this does with trophies and if I had one big request, it would be to be able to do the same with the downloaded games on my system.
And for the people who haven’t heard of Resonance of Fate, it’s actually a pretty good JRPG, which coming from Sega, of course, got no hype.
So, installing this mandatory update from 3.15 will retain OtherOS then — because I do not see a big fat warning for 3.15 users that they will lose access to their Linux partition?

GOOGLE CHROME OS! Really need an update or upgrade for the NetFont web access. The Iphone and lesser products are able to completely out perform NetFont which has been in need of an update since its problems with flash( the beginning).

Who gives a s#%& about trophy sorting. Meaningless to make this a single, forced update. I just lost 10 mins of valuable playtime over this.
Give us some proper enhancements, like a new browser (I want Opera!).
3D stereoscopic gaming should push the hardware for next-gen systems quite a lot. :)
I am against Auto-sync but just to make it worth the update just include an expanded Copy-Paste-Delete functionality.
I don’t want to cruel or sound ungrateful, but I don’t care about trophies, though it would be nice to remove 0% games from the list. I do care about the PSN network dropping out in the middle of game play, how hard can it be to make it a bit more robust. I am fairly new to the PS3, being a PC gamer previously (got bored with the continous upgrading), but so far I’m not impressed with the network performace. I do care about being able to get online. As of just after this update I cannot sign in. Thanks for the effort Sony, but get with the program, listen to the customers please, we are the reason you make money after all.

I would actually love for you guys to come out with a trophy refresher, i’ve been playing Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition and i got the trophy popup for hacking 50 terminals, i’m even at 100 now in game but when i go back to my trophies they are not there, i know i have them it popped up in the top right corner of my screen its just not in the list and its now accounted for in my percentage.
Its really pissing me off theres a good 5 trophies that are doing that.
has this update been properly tested so it doesn’t break ps3s?
I’m seeing alot of comments about updating or replacing the web browser, adding the option of deleting trophies, cross game chat, etc.
2 ouf of 3 of those requests are pretty hefty, updating the browser and cross game chat will take some time to develop, i’m sure they’re waiting for a larger patch like 3.5 or 4.0 even. one thing i wouldn’t mind seeing is ability for in-game snap shots, music during games, and better remote play features like stream music, movies, or hell offer some features for remote play in PS3 games, You know just like that one company and all those platform/handheld games they came out with.

Taking away ‘Other OS’ will not stop the PS3 being hacked, do you honestly think someone trying to hack the PS3 will downgrade their machines.

3D game update but no 3D blu-ray update. if you get a new bravia 3D TV and a new game and play 4 to 8 hrs in one time you will hope games are sort. as the sony shutter glasses only last 100 hrs. a 3D movie will work and sell more TV´s. for you guys. im looking forward to see games in 3D but i think a movie will be best in your own home
Id pay a 100 or more a year to apply otheros to the slim system. My original system broke and the only new one I could acquire is the slim.Im pretty pissed.Id love to have cross chat, playing music in the background during games, and a myriad of other features,but Sony indeed needs to work on the issues they have first.What do you expect when Sony sold the console at a loss.They make their money off games.You want to hit their pocketbook and get things fixed?Stop spending money on the psn and stop buying games.Maybe they’ll start to listen then.
It’s great that they’re updating something a bit more relevant to the gaming experience with 3.30, but will this update also allow us to:
a. sort alphabetically (game name list under trophy section)?
b. sort alphabetically games purchased from PSN?
c. improve playback of PS3 software (and maybe PS1)?
d. put PS2 backwards compatibility?
e. PS2 games on PSN (and maybe DreamCast games too)?
Preparing for 3D is great and all, but I personally got the PS3 to play video games (the slim 250 GB model at that; and my first one).
Only unneeded features.
Only feateres which will help Sony to make more Money with new Hardware (TV, AV-Receiver…)
