Hi everyone, in our continued effort to provide the best, most comprehensive entertainment experience possible, we’ll be adding a few new features to PlayStation 3 (PS3) via the latest system software update, which is a mandatory update and will be available shortly. Most notably, you’ll see some new sorting options within Trophies that make it easier to claim bragging rights among your friends on PlayStation Network.
- Trophy enhancements –- Now you can more easily sort trophies in the [Trophy Collection] and [Comparing Trophy] sections. Sorting can be done with [Trophy Collection] in the [Game Category] and also when comparing trophies with your friends in the [Friend Category]
- Trophy Folder (Title List) can be sorted by game name/ by title according to the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
- Add-on list (Group list) can be sorted by original/the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
- Trophy list can be sorted by original/trophy name/grade/date of obtaining the trophy (ascending/descending)
In addition, this update preps the PS3 system for some upcoming new features, including 3D stereoscopic gaming, which is coming soon to PS3, in time for the launch of Sony’s 3D BRAVIA TVs.

i think they Sony should delete the what’s new” thing and replace it with that cool toolbar that was at the top right of the screen cause it made it so much easier to no what was going on!

where can i download the update on the web instead of through my system? i like updating my ps3 via memory stick. the only update on the playstation website is 3.21.
I take it the main reason for this update was adding 3D functionality to the PS3, but you threw in this, rather useless, trophy “enhancements” to fill space. Quite odd that you made it look on the contrary with your announcement.
The trophy sorting is nice but I don’t think many people were bothered by trophy organization or wanted that. I also doubt many people will use that, there’s a large group who won’t even find out it’s there (or realize it wasn’t there before!).
I do know quite a few aspects you could invest your and hard work in that are more pressing matters for the community. They should be your primary goals as wells.
I don’t have to make a list of those. You have a share blog. Get to work.
I like the update although its still rather pointless a flash update would be great, but i can just view Youtube on otherOS

So the 3d update is Just for Sony Bravia’s or will it work on any TV? If it wont work on any old TV then this is a useless update in my opinion. Make 3D work for all TV’s. I cannot answer your question on whether or not the 3/d enabled ps3 will only work with sony sets yet.(that better not be the case.) However i can tell you that the the new 3/d tech. will only work with new 3/d enabled televisions. Of which NONE of us have yet. So, yes..you will need a new tv to view 3-d. clarified?
sonys update with 4.0 well lets see everything has been just about useless to this point with updates so i am going to bet its going to be something like you can now see your theme on the xmb whin you press the ps button whin in a game isnt that awesome IT DOES NOTHING like that last two updates

Also, if you can support WMA on the PS3, the other formats of audio and video(AVI!!!!!) should be available as well, along with cross game chatting and being able to play music in-game, why even bother having the “feature” as a choice if 99% of the games don’t support it? That’s about as pointless as removing support for other OS, oh wait, that already happened. B!TCH B!TCH B!TCH RANT RANT RANT….and don’t tell me “if you don’t like it, trade it in and buy a 360” because I love my PS3, and I already plan on getting a 360 sometime soon, I just want to be able to have my favorite console do the things that it should be able to do.

Honestly other os was good but not great. linux is a fine OS but seriously in this day and age of sub $200 computers then is there really a need for other os. I mean the netbook Im writing on utilizes YDL much better and quicker than my 60 gig ps3 did. Y’know why? MORE RAM!!! the ps3 has a paltry 512, my netbook has a 1gig of ddr3. hmmm which is better to run YDL on, the netbook of course… Save your pennies and just go buy one…. stop cluttering the blog with your useless posts about oos, it isn’t ever coming back so just drop it already.

Thanks for the update but really it just smacks of self interest. Why isn’t the ‘latest’ flash player in this update Sony? Because you dont get to milk us by including it, do you? Stick a rich mans 3d Bravia bs in the update, and you’ll sell more tvs. We need selectable ringtones for incoming msgs, ACCESS TO YOU TUBE. btw Sony your error codes you sent out during the leap-year psn failure murdered my precious 60gb ps3. Why didnt you warn us not to use our fats via the xmb instead of/as well as thru twitter/yahoo? AND WHY THE HELL WONT YOU REPLACE MY 60GB THAT YOU ERROR-CODED TO OBLIVION SONY? I have an xbox 360 and ps3, and I have always used my xbox 360 for talking to friends even when im playing my ps3, All Sony have to do to compete, is make it so you can go on private chat whilst your playing a game and they should introduce party chat. I do prefer trophies over gamer score, its just cooler levelling up rather than just getting a score, and platinum trophies are cool :)
Hey, PLEASE CAN YOU ADD THE ABILITY TO *DELETE* GAMES WITH TROPHIES THAT YOU DON’T WANT, PLUS IT WILL CLEAR UP AND GIVE YOU MORE SPACE ON THE SERVERS!
Gotta agree that you guys need to update the browser, its really terrible now, it used to be ok, but now flash has updated and we cant play alot of videos online, including PS blog vids! come on now guys! You removed the other OS feature that was capable of a competent browser, so the least you guys could do is give us a better browser and updat the ps3 so it can play more formats of video and audio.

i called sony once and get this thay had no clue to as the prob i was haveing not that big of a surprise to me i was haveing a video prob. come to find out on my own it had to do with my cable that was comeing into my tv cause it was not grounded proper i have called sony 3 times and thay have helped once out of the 3 times and that was the superviser that helped
Download link on here for 3.30 is STILL not up, come on Sony, it’s getting ridiculous. I started downloading it on my PS3 directly and it’s only at 11% because our internet is slow and I can’t get onto our neighbor’s wifi on the PS3 because they’re not close enough but I can go over there and download it on my laptop. Too bad you don’t have the FREAKING LINK UP YET.
Just one small question,
I realize this is a sony device, but why are we being forced to update something that people in the lower ecdonomic bracket will never have access to?

Unless you own a brand new 3/d enabled set, that feature has no use. You will also need 3/d coded games.

Wow…really? Can you guys please give up updates for the Internet Browser? The browser is really getting old . I mean we can’t watch any videos that don’t support Flash 9. It would be great for a new flash update and some more tweaks here and there. I mean whats the point of having an Internet Browser on the Playstation 3 if it’s limited to what you can do?

On second thought it saves me $10, and it is Money you won’t get so don’t bother.
There doesn’t seem to be much connection between the features that people want and the features that are actually developed.
I’m hoping that with PlayStation.Blog Share in place, that will start to change. It makes it rather clear what features your customers really want the most.

EZ2Freaku not sure if it still works or not but there was a youtube xl something or another i dont remeber 100% what it was called but that played youtube videos the reason i dont know if it still works or not is cause i have not and will not update for a few days but it did work whin plain youtube didnt
