Hi everyone, in our continued effort to provide the best, most comprehensive entertainment experience possible, we’ll be adding a few new features to PlayStation 3 (PS3) via the latest system software update, which is a mandatory update and will be available shortly. Most notably, you’ll see some new sorting options within Trophies that make it easier to claim bragging rights among your friends on PlayStation Network.
- Trophy enhancements –- Now you can more easily sort trophies in the [Trophy Collection] and [Comparing Trophy] sections. Sorting can be done with [Trophy Collection] in the [Game Category] and also when comparing trophies with your friends in the [Friend Category]
- Trophy Folder (Title List) can be sorted by game name/ by title according to the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
- Add-on list (Group list) can be sorted by original/the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
- Trophy list can be sorted by original/trophy name/grade/date of obtaining the trophy (ascending/descending)
In addition, this update preps the PS3 system for some upcoming new features, including 3D stereoscopic gaming, which is coming soon to PS3, in time for the launch of Sony’s 3D BRAVIA TVs.

Quite tired of these mandatory updates that enhance stuff I don’t use. I wanted a quick half hour game of something and instead I’m blocked from connecting because the update is mandatory. So instead I have to waste a half hour downloading over 164 MB for changes I’ll never see or use. In addition, when are you going to start providing updates in smaller segments instead of a mega update all the time?

Yawn.. I dunno how many times a freaking update is going to be put up without cross game voice chat, but every single time one does, it will be a disappointment to anyone with friends.

Thanks for the update, I always appreciate some new features. However, there are still some things I would like to see added:
-Auto trophy syncing
-Ability to hide/delete game with 0% trophies
-Option to remove the ticker in the upper right of the XMB.
-Option to remove the PS Store icons under the game and video sections. We really only need the one under the Network tab.
-Option to change the font size.
-Options to use the old start up when turning on the PS3
@dbagel you obviously have no clue what you are talking about, you clearly don’t understand how the function worked. I on the other hand ran Xubuntu, then YDL 6.0 then 6.1, and currently run YDL 6.2. Funny my otheros works properly and great. Matter of fact its never crashed on me in Linux side which I cannot say for the gameOS. The gameOS web browser alone crashes every few minutes. You can’t ruin your PS3 running otherOS, it runs on a seperate partition on your hard drive. If you want to critique and take part in something, make sure you educate yourself properly on the issue…
YouTube works again, so either Sony fixed it, or YouTube fixed it on their end at approximately the same time. Either way, great. Now if only I could post on Facebook again…
You had people download an update to kill otherOS when you knew this was coming out within weeks? For shame guys, you know that the more times you make people update the more chances there are for unit failure. If you think I’m letting go otherOS, I am not. I will be back here anytime its even remotely relevant. I paid for it, you took it. Putting aside your fancy legal talk, anyone would see what you have done as theft plain and simple. If I am just LEASING my console and you have the right to remove stuff from it then I believe you should also have the responsibility to maintain and service all of these millions of consoles don’t you? Isn’t that how leasing things works? I have a house full of Sony equipment, rest assured there are other brands that I can and will choose from for my household electronics. New feature, update your PS3 every couple of weeks so it bricks faster! Awesome!
For those asking about a better web browser, the otherOS that you all didn’t care about runs firefox beautifully and has NEVER crashed, unlike the cheap XMB browser which crashes every 10 minutes or so…

a way to play ps2 games and the laser does read the disc otherwise it wouldn’t say youve inserted a playstation 2 formatted disc which is not supported. come on already.
Can you delete games from you trophy list??
If no, I don’t care about it. How can you talk about efforts to provide us the best and we’re still unable to do something that simple.
Is not fair to have games you don’t even own spoiling your trophy list, specially if you took your time to complete 100% in the games you actually like.
Sweet but you do realize that you still need the hard ware to support that 3D gaming from what makes sence to me will only be possible on the new upcoming (not in the market yet) Sony Bravia Tv’s your standard HDTV are basically gonna be old school comething like HD ready when Full HD came out:P

okay, now I’m really ticked. After spending 15 minutes waiting for this huge frickin file I find out it just loaded up 3.21 again not 3.30… CHANGE YOUR SUPPORT PAGE links… There is still stuff pointing to 3.21 e.g. bottom right hand corner of http://us.playstation.com/support/

3S sony bravia Tv range that is i forgot to mention 3D above.
Question, why is this firmware a mandatory update? If it is only 20 days from the last optional update? Is it because of Geohost’s hack and Sony is hiding a “special” patch under the disguise of 3D capable TV which maybe 1% users will have this summer.
Should Sony have firmware like Windows that have Critical and Optional updates that we choose to install rather than lumping features users don’t need to conceal other “special” patches?

Do we really need one of those tvs? Ijust bought a better tv that runs 120 hz. Will there be any 3d function without the tv? i know not many people are going to spend that kind of money for added 3d. Im just saying, something else must be done to make 3d more accessable and affordable for us who cant buy the sony tv.

every time i have to update i get excited and i log on here to see whats its for then get hit with disappointment :( another worthless update. to bad the ps3 doesn’t do everything (x-game chat)

Have you guys at Sony ever consider including one 3D glasses to go with the TV purchase? The 3D upgrade is a pretty steep one. It’s going to be difficult for 3D to take off at these prices, which does not include the expensive glasses.
I wish you guys would make messaging and inviting friends to games easier. As it stands now the number of menus you have to navigate just to talk to friends is ridiculous.

Just want to say THANKS for removing my Linux support after the last update. I really appreciate it, especially when it was a key feature in my choice to buy a PS3 in the first place. Remember? You advertised it for games, movies, multimedia, and other os?

now that more themes are premium content (although I only paid for 1 dynamic theme), users should probably want to be able to sort through them in alphabetical order, not only by recent use
Oh and sony please make an update to listen to music and playing games that one i would really like and it shouldn’t be that hard if microsoft did it for 360 :P
After make this update my 2 controls don’t synchronize with the console, so i cannot use the PS3 for anything!
