WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!

After the warm welcome I received on the PlayStation.Blog last month, I couldn’t wait to come back! Before we launch the final episodes of Blue Toad Murder Files, I thought I’d stop by and have a chat with you about your thoughts and theories on who might be the criminal mastermind in Blue Toad Murder Files. Or even if there is one villain behind it all?…duh duh duuuuh!

Blue Toad Murder Files (PSN): Episodes 4-6

Blue Toad Murder Files (PSN): Episodes 4-6 Blue Toad Murder Files (PSN): Episodes 4-6

In the first three episodes we racked up three murders, a burglary, and a fire as well as gaining an extra Blue Toad Detective along the way. Obviously, I’m not going to give too much away until you’ve had a chance to play all six episodes, but I’m interested to hear your theories and observations so far. Have you noticed any recurring themes? What clues about the case stand out that haven’t been resolved? Who looks like they’re hiding something?

Blue Toad Murder Files (PSN): Episodes 4-6

Episodes 4, 5 and 6 will be available on the PlayStation Store later today for $7.49 individually or the discounted bundle of all three for $14.99.

  • It seems like I’ve been waiting forever for this since I finished Episode 3, can’t wait. However, I don’t know if I should read the comments, because I have a feeling someone will ruin it for me.

Anyways, love the game, and it’s surprisingly funny. Well, not that it’s surprising, I expected some wit, but I really underestimated how much. The colonel is awesome. Really great series.

  • Does any know, how long this episodes are?..

  • Can’t wait. I’ve been playing through an episode every other week so I’m not burned out at all. Will there be a game update to give it some more interesting trophy icons? The generic default PSN icons used for the first three episodes are so boring looking!

    • We haven’t planned to update the trophy icons but I hear what you’re saying…we definately need to improve these next time. I will take note megamixer!

  • @ryanmck142. The wife and I played the first episode last night… it was about 40-45 minutes…. and well worth it.

  • I’ll be picking these up as soon as they are posted. Thanks for stopping by again Jade.

    • Hey no problem :) Sorry for my late replies…issues with my login. I really enjoy chatting on the PS blog and reading your comments.

  • These games look interesting, but no demo, no buy. Howabout a demo for Episode 1?

  • @StooBush
There is an interview video posted at:
    https://blog.playstation.com/2010/03/24/coming-to-psn-this-week-blue-toad-murder-files/

The video goes through a puzzle in the first chapter. My guess is that a demo would give too much away… After seeing the video I didn’t want a demo, I wanted the game.

  • im interested in the series, for the people who have played it, would you recommend it?

  • Awesome! My daughter and I played through the first episodes when they first came out and she has been asking me every week since when the next episodes would be available… she’s had a rough week at school, so this will be a welcome play tonight!

  • @#8: It’s somewhat similar in tone to the Professor Layton series on the Nintendo DS. Fun story, fun puzzles. Overall a nice casual diversion.

I wish they would make more of these adventures for the PS3 and add some for the PSP.

  • Fun game. I bought the previous pack.

  • Sweet, I’ve been dying to get the last chapters, the wait is almost over!

Great job on the game guys, its clever, hilarious, everything a game like this should be. I hope there are plans to keep the series going after this!

    • I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it so much – the team will be really happy to hear this tomorrow as well (it’s 10pm UK time, the rest of the team is probably getting their beauty sleep :)).

We’d really like to make more Blue Toad as well! Can’t wait to hear what you think of Episodes 4-6. Post back on here or our forum (http://www.bluetoadmurderfiles.co.uk/forums/) so we can pick it up.

  • My wife and I played through the first three episodes in one evening and really enjoyed ourselves. I noticed two themes as I played through the first half of the game: murder and ducks. If the finale reveals that ducks are behind it all, I will stand and applaud. Other than suspicious ducks, the chief of police (I can’t remember his name or title) is also on my watch list.

My wife and I are excited to play the last three episodes; I requested a review voucher, but if I don’t get one soon, my wife said she’s just going to buy it! I wouldn’t hold it against her – we found the first game to be a lot of fun and full of charm; the characters and humor have us hooked and we can’t wait to play it again.

  • My husband and I really loved the first episodes and are looking forward to finishing off the season. The game is quite directed (no exploring like most adventure games), but has just enough depth and difficulty to make a player feel smart when they reach the a-ha moment in both the individual puzzles and the overall plot.

If I had to give any feedback for the next season, it would be to improve the level of detail. The train, some of the shrubs, and a few other things in the first episode are framed close to the camera and look really bad. I can appreciate not having the time /budget to render the inside of every unopened cabinet, etc, but when things are pushed in on they should be decently detailed.

    Keep up the great work!

  • OK, so played through episode 4 & 5, and I was a little disappointed in the end of 5… the culprit seemed to be in direct conflict to what one of the early puzzles shows… I’ll have to replay it and see if I just missed it somehow, but I don’t quite see how the timing worked out.

  • I loved first three!!!! I going to get next three ASAP!!! Excellent games!!!!
