Tomorrow, May 4th, will be an onslaught of Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer goodness on the PlayStation Network!
First and foremost, the first downloadable content for Modern Warfare 2 — The Stimulus Package — will hit the PSN Store for $14.99 and bring with it five new maps to the multiplayer of MW2. Included in those five new maps are two classic Call of Duty 4 maps that we all know and love, and three completely new locations that offer a variety of unique locations for your favorite gametypes. The Stimulus Package includes:
Bailout – An American apartment complex that is amazing for objective gametypes, especially Capture the Flag, but one of those maps that works well regardless of what type of game you’re playing it on. Its long sightlines — like sniping from a blown-out wall of a second-story apartment suite — give it some nice spots for long-range sniping but also has plenty of flanking routes through the bullet-riddled gym, hallways, lobbies, and interconnecting units.
Salvage – A snowy junkyard covered in debris, crushed cars, and my favorite aspect — no place to hide (well, maybe one, but hiding in the dog house isn’t going to win you the game). This aspect of beautiful but simplistic design is what makes Salvage my new favorite map for Hardcore Team Deathmatch; it forces you to rely on your speed, accuracy, and skill. It’s all about offensive, sorry campers! This map is about getting in and STAYING in the fight.
Storm – A rainy warehouse district on the outskirts of a looming thunderstorm with booming lightning and rolling thunder. A massive interconnected warehouse with overhead walkways and plenty of machinery for cover makes this great for big team games. With plenty of surrounding outdoors areas for flanking or cutting through the connected buildings, this is a map that benefits from two teams working together to control their area and lock down domination points. This map has a great atmosphere and always results in some insane HQ games.
Crash – A war-torn urban environment with a crashed helicopter surrounded by several great vantage points. Whether you’re taking pop shots from the three-story building overlooking the map, or covering the center objective point from the second story of the appropriately named “blue room” windows, Crash is the first fan-favorite map to make a return from Call of Duty 4, and is one those multiplayer locations that is perfectly balanced regardless of the gametype you throw on it. Team Deathmatch is king on Crash for me personally and we’ve maintained every cover, sniper vantage, and perfect ‘nade spot you’ve grown to love, but have also filled the map out with even more detail.
Overgrown – A massive and open village divided down the center by a dried-up creekbed. Overgrown is a snipers paradise with its high grass, super-long sightlines, and earns its cred as one of our largest multiplayer maps. It’s back by popular demand from the community, and was one of my personal favorite maps of all time from Call of Duty 4. It’s been updated with some new lightning and atmospheric changes, yet maintains its trademark flow and appeal for big team games.
When you jump online to enjoy the new maps, you’re also going to be greeted with a few new additions to the playlists structure in multiplayer. You’ll notice two new playlists added to the bottom of the list: Stimulus & Stimulus Hardcore. These two playlists will allow you to play your favorite gametypes on ONLY the new maps. That way you get to experience them as much as you like.
Stimulus – This playlist will include all gametypes for 8-12 players and rotating through ONLY the new Stimulus Maps.
Stimulus Hardcore – This playlist will include Hardcore Ricochet Team Deathmatch, Hardcore Ricochet HQ Pro, Hardcore Ricochet Search and Destroy for 8-12 players and rotating through ONLY the new Stimulus Maps.
While these two playlists are reserved for those who download The Stimulus Package, the same day we’ll also be introducing an all new playlist for ALL Modern Warfare 2 players.
Team Tactical – 6-8 Players playing small team based games with Team Deathmatch, Domination, Capture the Flag, and Demolition. (First Person viewpoint)
This playlist is being added by HUGE demand from the community on our forums, Twitter, and other messages you’ve sent in to us; in addition to another requested change of adding the Ranger maps (Terminal, Skidrow, Highrise, Invasion) to the HC HQ Pro playlist.
When I said onslaught, I MEANT onslaught!
That’s not even all. When all these updates hit tomorrow on May 4th, we’ll also be flipping the Double XP switch for the first time, ON ALL PLAYLISTS, FOR ALL PLAYERS! So when you jump online you’ll be earning twice as many XP for your kills and objectives to help you finish off that Prestige you’ve been working on or, for all you level 70s, the deciding factor to take the leap into the next Prestige.
Tomorrow is all about adding even more mileage to your Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, giving you all new locations to play, new playlists to play them on, and Double XP to make it all that much sweeter. I look forward to seeing all of you online!

can u download the map packs more then once on the same console
You can download the maps up to 5 times on the same account, whether that account be on the same PS3 or not. Example, if you had 3 PS3s in your house, you could buy the maps once, and then as long as you put that account on each machine, you could download the maps to each machine for no additional cost.
well i withdraw my statements and appologise to infinty ward/activision im pleased theyve locked out certain game modes (for now . . . i would still like to have a choice) but im loving some of the different games especially SABATAGE its great especially in the scrapyard great fun. . .im loving the new maps but would like to see them merged with the old ones as well cos (cue the violins) i miss terminal and highrise . . .i know i can come back out and go into them but hey ho just would be nice to be rotated through all of them. . . . happy gaming chaps n chappesessssssesss
First of all, I want to reply to post 4006 (Money_Mo1115).
Screw you and all the other cheaters who use elevators and any other glitches that weren’t specifically built into the game. I hate cheaters. If you can’t play the game the way it’s suppose to be played, turn in your game disc. You and people like you are pathetic losers who have to cheat to win. You and people like you make the game worse to play more than the pathetic noob tubers and worse, the heartbeat sensor wimps.
Now, on to the actual reason I’m here. First, take note that I did not take the time to read back through the last 10 pages, so if this is old, oh well.
Back on Tuesday, I posted defending the $15 price tag for the 5, YES FIVE, new maps and also defended the timing of when they hit the PS Store.
Now I’m really starting to regret that post. I gladly paid the $15 and got the new maps, only to find out that I can’t even play the damn things!!!!! I do not play S&D, HQ or any of those other games. I play TDM variants. So now, since I don’t play the games IW/Activision wants me to play, I’m being punished and I can’t play the new maps that I paid for. Back on Tuesday, Bowling said they would be integrated soon. He mentioned that XBL got integrated in less than 24 hours. So now, not only did XBL get the maps a month earlier us (those pockets still dragging you down Activision????), they got to actually PLAY the new maps in less than a day. Here we are, three days later and STILL can’t play the new maps THE WAY WE WANT TO.
Either integrate the maps NOW, or give me my money back. This is BS.

cause what ever i heard is about north America n Europe n Australia, nothing about us. ok my xp are higher now , so for every kill that i was suppose to take 100 i get 200 now, n i see the stimulus pack n stimulus hardcore in the list, n it said i should take it from the psn store, but there’s nothing there, though on all reports is only mentioned north America n Europe !!!

My only complaint is that they pick the game for u.. i really like team deathmatch and it only comes up a few time.. I think that for 14.99 they should be patched and we should be able to play them as it was in Modern Warfare 4…people that dont have the maps wont get them but those who paided will play.. come on now this is very unfair that we play what u want us to play… u paid as u wanted us to now make it fair on our part..

yes the new maps do show up on normal playlist which makes me happy along with others and i thank u guys at IW just one thing make the new maps show up faster or more likely than others thx again
i have downloaded the maps and it has 7 thing on call of duty to download do i download 1 or all of them becaus i did 1 then installed it and stil cant get into maps

do not down load all of them there is a code at the bottom of the spine of you box that the game came in match the code with down load and whamoh your in camper heaven.

come out with more maps like a school or jungle you could also sell the maps seperatly for $4 still make profit next update add golden guns also add mini games like mike myers mode (only tac knives and throwing knives no responing) and no scope and quikscope (have it be that intervention you cant zoom in more that 1 second at a time)

I think its quiet funny the way everyone is always moaning on here..It was only a few days ago people on here were not buying the maps out of protest.. Now be honest, how many of you still bought them after saying you wouldnt? When they solve one issue, there will always be others to take there place, you all just need to be patient and remember games have come a long way in a short time which is still practically new for the developers as demand states people want better and better games with more in them.
Ok. I have about 3 PSN accounts. One for Singapore (where I first got my ps3) then one for Dubai/Europe cos I’m living in Dubai right now. And it’s not showing in either of the stores. So I made a Thai account where I bought MW2 and STILL not showing. I’ve been searching the web and now frustrated. Anyone having the same problems?
is there a way to get rid of the new maps, i don’t like them much and besides, why make new maps now when the server is still screwy and puts you into games that are almost over and surprise, you’re on the losing team

Activision has announced that the next dlc for mw2 is coming out in the fall 2010 check out ign.com for more info as this is where i read it
I apparently downloaded the pack with the wrong BLES code so the packs did not integrate into the game.

Ever since I DL the maps, the games seem to end more frequently due to server connections. Anyone have this problem?

WOW, all I hear is people complainging about the price. All it takes is one poor ass to start a thread and whine whine whine. Bunch of broke asses, you probably paid $59.99 so you can say you had it first. Everything is fine with DLC. Its a good addition to the original game. But its the double experience points that I am enjoying. That is worth the wopping $15. And I will do it again. Bunch of Lames, Mommy bought you the game, now beg her to buy the DLC.
I have been following up on the PSN store for the stimulus map pack and till today nothing was found in PSN store here in Singapore (Asia). Will we be even getting this map pack in Asia? Getting sick and tired of searching for it high and low in PSN Asia. Anyone can help?

Korean version is R3 (Region 3), so, I assume, US DLC won’t work, as it is for R1 version.

It’s great to see the developers of the game or in this case developer be looking and replying to feedback we give you. I haven’t played MW2 in a very long time other games like God of War 3 and Just Cause 2 have taken over, this stimulus pack might just give me a reason to go back on it again, but to be honest the price is outrageous £10.99 for 5 maps with 2 of which being old, I could pick up Call of Duty 4 for that price. Anyway if your free I’d love to give you an 1 vs 1, I’ve seen you agree to other requests and it would be nice to see how good the people who make the games really are.
My map pak purchase went through fine. although, it didnt prompt me to “choose” from any list of seven. So ive downloaded what ive paid for and cant play multiplayer at all. just sits idle on the match making screen. anyone help this guy out? plz?? I still would love to play it, its a lil frustrating when it was my last fifteen dollars. =*(
need to do something about the knifing, it’s too easy. you shoot someone and they still are able to keep coming at you and knife you. when you shoot someone it should at least slow them down and prevent them from being able to still run at you. the old saying “you don’t bring a knife to a gun fight” doesn’t apply in this game! i can put three bullets in someone and it doesn’t kill him, but one stab does? doesn’t make sense? make it two stabs and be slowed down when shot. i think would fix problem.

Do you know if the Ps3 will get a patch for private matches? Because sometimes when I’m playing sometimes with my friends in private matches, their friends come and join and ruin it for us. If it will, it would be much appreciated. If the Xbox 360 has the joining/no joining setting, why can’t Ps3? Response will be appreciated. Thanks.

Can someone please switch double XP back on? I am only on my first prestige and I would be more inclined to work my way through others if double XP is on. On average without double XP playing free for all I get around 3000XP per game, is this the average?
Why the **** is the second map pack coming to xbox live first!? WTF! Infinity Ward and Activision are really starting to piss me off.
I am wondering if any of this map packs will be available to purchase on disc? Based off my previous experience, when I travel and take my PS3 with me, I usually do not have access to the internet and thus I have been unable to play new MAPS I Paid for. For example, I bought the map pack for the call of duty modern 1 and when I had left I didnt have connection and couldnt play them, so I would rather not spend 15 bucks and not be able to play them.
