Gran Turismo 5, Now With More Nürburgring

123 0

Hey, everyone. Taku Imasaki here with a bit of Gran Turismo 5 news. If you saw our website this morning, then you already know about the news.

If you’re a true racing fan, you know that Nürburgring is a world-renowned racing complex in Nürburg, Germany.

It’s known for being extremely challenging, a grueling testing ground for even the most seasoned race drivers and the most highly tuned performance cars. It’s home of various world-famous races including the Nürburgring 24 Hours race, and used as a testing ground for bleeding-edge performance cars by companies like GM, Dodge, Nissan, Lexus, and Ferrari.

Gran Turismo 5: Nurburgring

In the words of Mr. GT, Kazunori Yamauchi himself, “For a car enthusiast, the Nürburgring is the equivalent to what places like the “Eiger Nordwand” or “Mount Everest” means to a mountaineer. There is that special allure about it that you just can’t explain in words.”

Nürburgring is definitely a favorite among GT fans, and I’m excited to share with you that Gran Turismo 5 will feature its three courses: the Grand Prix course, the Nordschleife, and the Nürburgring 24 Hours course. As you can see from these screenshots, these courses have been beautifully recreated. Check out the other five brand new screenshots here.

And if you happen to be in Germany this weekend for the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race, you’ll be able to check them out on a brand new GT5 demo we have on display there to commemorate this world-famous race event.

We’re getting close to E3, so be sure to watch the official GT website and the PlayStation.Blog here for the latest news on Gran Turismo 5.

  • this will turn out like ffxiii…. a big bust!!!
also i agree with poster 47
you guys are taking way to long, it better have everything we want and not what you think we want

  • Screen shots…yawn. How about some details? What tracks are included? What features are included? How about a release date? As I read the comments, not one response. Not one. And I doubt you’ll respond to this one or any other. I’m disappointed. Keep the fans happy, give us something other than screen shots or telling us to wait for E3. Are you listening?

  • I’m just sick of it already… The prologue was released too long ago.. It’s beyond a joke.. Waiting is for kids… There’s ‘fashionably late’… and then there’s ridiculously late… this is the latter…

The hype for the game has peaked.. I can only see a great many people being disappointed in the final result.. So much hype.. For so long.. This won’t end well.. It may get high initial sales figures.. But reviews are going to be harsh.. and sales will drop very quickly.

  • mrwes you are wrong,Gt will sell huge as GT is the biggest franchise Playstation has. it will sell over 10 million.

  • The game is going to be old before it even comes out… does that make sense?

  • maybe bring back some footage from the demo!! ;)

  • Deutschland <3

….and a release date announcement at E3 would be nice.

  • Mmmmmmmmm… look at all those ugly trees!

  • Awesome.. I’ll finally get a chance to race on this track in 2012 when grandad turismo 5 is released.

  • Talk is cheap. Deliver the goods already.

  • Umlauts make everything better.

  • So aweesome

  • Release date would be amazing.

  • GT5 is gonna suck if you can’t race your friends. I mean, what was the reason for that?!

  • everyone plz stop critizing the trees-it mite take them 2 yrs to correct. Really though i found out about gran turismo 5 wen i got my ps3 last christmas. i was dissapointed when it was delayed from spring, but for the ppl who thought it was going to be release in 2005, i am sorry

  • Ahhh god, yes. Finally got my fix. Its been awhile. Had to go to rehab to try to kick the habit. I’m very very happy that you have the different layouts for Nurburbring. I’ve been waitin for those. I absolutely understand what everyone else is saying. I too have been waiting ever since this game was first announced (wait, I’ve been waitin for every GT). If you guys are adding more online modes and features, then in the end I will be ok with it. Also, penalties or damage had better be the biggest reason for this hold up (with the ability to turn off and on). I loved GT4, but it was also a let down. Please make sure this one is worth the wait. But, if the wait is so we don’t have to pay for future DLC, then I’m definitely ok.

  • release date at E3 …. winter time assmuming . too many title coming out tho. Give some release date while we live.

  • assuming *

  • Oh yeah, don’t forget to come to PAX. I have to get another fix before the release date. Come with the wheel and seats setup. Don’t forget to fill the Bluray disc with everything we want. And, uh, see you in Seattle with the game?

  • Not a big racing fan–but someday I want to hit the Nuremburgring because it’s soon opening the world’s fastest roller coaster–RingRacer–130 MPH launch? YES PLEASE!

  • wow, screenshots look great
    can’t wait!
    good job
    thank you

  • DO WANT…soon…please….i really need to set up a rig to use my wheel

  • Good news but I would be extremely disappointed if GT5 didn’t have the Nurburgring.

Now you have me worring that tracks like both versions of Circuit De La Sarte (from GT4) may not be in the new game. Can you confirm Taku?

  • King0fHearts2007

    Will GT ever have trophys?

  • ThreeLeggedFreak

    Wow

  • Looks really awesome, I can wait, I have patience for the most part when it comes to games.

  • There is this strangely subtle yet recurring theme permeating these comments. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but, maybe after a few hundred more comments, I’ll figure out what all of these comments asking about a mythical release date mean.

OR, maybe we could all just have another demo to tide us over while development continues unabated for the next five years?

I certainly don’t want anyone to think I’m trying to apply pressure or anything because that would be presumptuous of me to demand the opportunity to spend my money to purchase this game THIS YEAR.

  • Cannot wait for GT5! looks sick

  • RE the tree comments.

    1. You wont ever be viewing them from the angles we see in those screenshots (you will be at track level obviously)
    2. You wont ever be viewing them in detail and at a standstill (if so why did you buy a driving sim? Keep your eyes on the road and your foot down) At 100mph it will all be a beautiful blur.
    3. Creating a racing game in particular is where a high frame rate really shines (I have heard it will run at 1080/60p!). Cheating like this is and normal practice. Why model a incredibly detailed tree and kill performance if its going past you at x MPH in the blink of an eye where all that extra detail is lost in the first place!

Dont worry. Its going to look jaw dropping but we have to just wait, GT are not churned out at regular intervals like a lot of other franchises these days. It can only mean they give it the attention it deserves. Thats a good thing.

  • Can’t wait for this one.

  • Taku Imasaki: “Luke, I did receive your letter, and your requests are being heard. Big thanks to being a loyal fan for so long!”

That was in response to this post…

Why does it look like nothing has changed? :(

  • Looks good, about a year too late, but looks good.

  • Is that in-game pictures or real? I can’t tell xD

  • Another official screenshots in almost 3 month and no release date whatsoever. I don’t even wait for this game anymore. I will know when it is really out. Even person who post this doesn’t reply any of our comments. What a BS.

  • “Gran Turismo 5, Now With More Delays & Still At 90% For Months”

Keep it up and surely some of us will not even be interested in this game anymore. Looks like vaporware at this point.

  • I will do anything for a release date.

  • Nurburgring, huh?

    got any real news?

  • I drove on that track for real last year. It was AWESOME!

  • MORE STAR WARS COSTUMES PLEASE BOBA FETT AND JAGO 2 PIES COSTUMES WITH SEPRATE GLOVE AND BOOTS NO 1 PICE CRAP

  • BTW SONY 1 PICE COSTUMES SUCK PROGRAMERS NEED TO STOP BEING LAZY ALL COSTUMES 2 PICE

  • Cash in hand, ready to buy.

  • they are so late …..
PS3 deserve a racing game that shows its compatibilities …
    SONY you owe to PS3.

  • It is not a good thing tease fans like that and repeat “90%” monotously.
You should be aware that some people are really annoyed by now.
    Make your move, Sony.

  • AWESOMEgamer875

Love the game, hate the date it comes out, too far away. Definitely a 5/5!

  • Waiting on GT5, I feel like the fat girl who all dressed up for the school dance only to find out I ain’t going ! Come on already release the game !

  • Sorry to say, Idon’t think we are as technologically advanced as we think we are. Someone gets a couple of eyebrow raisers, and they try to live off their name forever. Take a short break, do a little creative packaging, and splash a coat of paint on it and its back to business until you burn out another group. Then again we keep blogging, buying, and [DELETED], instead of demanding something
intelligently researched, and proudly produced. Who is the lab rat now?

  • I am under the impression the Ps3 slim console is only to be operatedin the horizontal position, according to the CECH-2001A manual, page12, bottom of the ‘notices’ box. Yesterday I bought a Ps3 intercooler distributed by NYKO. One of the features listed on the box read,”Can be used with the Ps3 Slim in vertical and horizontal position,” Does Mr.NYKO actually know Mr. Sonys equipment that he sells upgrade accessories for? How the intercooler mounted and its performanc and appearance had some engineering discrepancies. If you do get one, don’t forget duct tape

  • Is it possable that we could get some trees and background details that are not PS2ish in both look, and detail? I mean Come on I looked at these shots up close and the trees are all 3D flat texture format………. LAME! Even Forza has fully 3D trees, and bushes now. (If this is not fixed before the final game ships I will not buy it. I know it’s all about the cars but the PS3 can already do much more then this 3D flat texture crap)

IF it means lowering the video rez to 720p I’m all for it Sony. Forget the 1080p lovers, just upscale it to 1080p, and leave the rez at 720p. Don’t chicken out and go for 60 hurz that will make this game look last gen. Like it already dose.

  • We have to wait untill E3?
I think that news of Killzone 3 will steal the show though:)

  • This “news” is a waste of our time pure & simple. People have been waiting for this game 4 years now and hearing the same old RSN as an excuse. Too many people have moved on including me. U keep tellin is “90% ready” again & again but still year after year after year passes by and no game. And no prologue does not count, its a demo not a real game and yet you expect us to pay 4 it as if it were a real game. Wake up sony & polyphony digital other developers, publishers & competing consoles have taken your market away from you while u slept at the switch. As you should have notcied a long time ago the excessive wait for this game has created unrealistic expectations that the game cannot possibly meet since nothing can justify what will likely be more than a 5 year wait at this point. Thats if the game ever sees release. Perhaps you should just aim for it being a launch title on Playstation 5 or 6 as Playastation 4 will likely come & go before this ever sees the light of day.
