May the Hexyz Force Be With You!

Hexyz Force

Hexyz Force is making its way onto a retailer’s shelf near you (and is already available via PlayStation Network for you folks who are on-the-Go… see what I did there?). To celebrate, we’re posting this post onto the place where things are posted on PlayStation.Blog.

We’d like to take one last opportunity to alert you to what is undoubtedly one of the biggest, most substantial RPGs yet to hit the lovable PSP system. Why so meaty? Well, it might have something to do with the fact that you can play the game’s satisfying, drama-filled narrative (complete with political intrigue, betrayal, magic, and such things) as one of TWO different characters: Levant, an elite knight with a disdain for non-humans, or Cecila, a young cleric with potent dormant magical abilities.

Hexyzforce Walkthrough

Each protagonist has a unique backstory and perspective on the world of Berge (that’s where everything goes down). More importantly, they each basically experience a completely different game (20-25+ hours of game, mind you), meaning that folks who play through as both characters will get a rich, two-sided adventure with 50+ hours of amazing roleplaying goodness (it’s kind of why we’ve been calling it a 2-in-1 RPG epic). Is that a PSP in your pocket or did the last paragraph just excite you?

Famed developer Sting (makers of Riviera: The Promised Land, Yggdra Union, and Knights in the Nightmare), introduces their most accessible and enjoyable combat engine yet, delivering fast-paced, smooth battles with easy to navigate menus and gorgeous attack animations. A risk/reward-style “Hexyz Charge” aspect means that proper planning and knowing when to take calculated risks can mean the difference between triumphing over your puny enemies or your parents hearing you cry out in frustration from the upstairs bathroom.

Errr—I mean—

Hexyzforce Walkthrough

And then we arrive at the visuals. Now, there have been plenty of gorgeous games to hit PSP system, and in our opinion, Hexyz is right up there. Stunning full 3D visuals, complete with cinematic event scenes, make for a sumptuous feast for the RPG-lover’s eyes. To further sweeten the deal, over 20 minutes of anime cutscenes make for a completely immersive experience.

So, we’ve told you all this, and we even threw some screenshots in, but really, we reckon you’d rather see it for yourselves. So allow us to debut our Hexyz Force Walkthrough Video, right here on PlayStation.Blog, which will take you through just about all of the above (minus all the awkwardness) and let you see for yourself how Hexyz Force is poised to go down as one of the best PSP RPGs of the year!

Look for Hexyz Force to land on shelves this week, or pick it up now via PlayStation Network. For more info on Hexyz Force, visit the official game website.

  • Just as long as in this version Greedo doesn’t shoot first, I’m in.

  • pre-ordered already and just waiting the arrival via mail from amazon couldnt pre-order from gamestop cuz the guy at my local store told me that the game wasnt in the system (even though the game appears on their website) go figure!

in any case, i’m pumped about this game cuz i already read a few online reviews and it seems like a tradional turn based rpg and those are certainly my cup of tea.

  • I’ll pick it up once I finish up with the games I have now, too many Ps3 games that I can get more trophies in a few psp ones I need to finish, but this is exactly the kind of game I like!

  • one question though does this game have level caps or can you grind it out to your hearts content?btw sry for the double post

    • perrandy,

The level cap is 99. You can’t level to infinity, but that should give you ample room if you’re interested in grinding on the side.

  • I have been waiting for this game for months! Im getting it either next week or the week after! im so excited for it

  • once again thank you for making this game available on PSN Atlus.

  • thanks atlus!

    1. PSP emulator on PS3
    2. Tracking ball on Move subcontroller (I want to control a shield and sword in a massive zelda game, DS2, etc.)
    3. Speaker on Move controller

  • Nice. I will pick up!

  • Gonna download this one for sure.Atlus put your other psp games on the store for us psp go owners.

    • Onvertic,

Thanks for the support! A majority of Atlus PSP releases are currently available on PSN for your PSPgo enjoyment, including but possibly not limited to:

      • Crimson Gem Saga™
      • Hammerin’ Hero™
      • Yggdra Union™
      • Steambot Chronicles Battle Tournament™
      • R-Type Command™
      • Riviera: The Promised Land™
      • Hexyz Force™
      • SMT®: Persona®

  • Thank you for always bringing great games Atlus.. i tried to get this from the Canadian Amazon like 2 days ago but it was sold out :(, i’ll wait a couple of days more then see if i can buy it, looks good. Atlus please bring more PS3 games tho :P, i dont play PSP that often anymore but im not skipping this game, would love to see more PS3 games coming up, loving 3D Dot Game so far

    • Destiny89,

Glad you’re enjoying 3D Dot Game Heroes. Thanks for your support! Have you had a chance to check out Demon’s Souls? It is a challenging, unforgiving game, but most would call it equally satisfying and rewarding. If you like RPGs, particularly ones with innovative online functionality, it might be up your alley!

  • kind of wish I had a psp for this one , why don’t you make a psn version for ps3 too ?

I’d love a psn game with that much gameplay .

  • Why can’t we get games like as normal PSN titles?

Does Atlus have anything for PSN planned? That doesn’t deal with the PSP, unless its PS1 classic..Persona 1 and 2 ;)

  • Thanks for bringing us a turn-based RPG. This is my favorite genere and it really makes me sad to see them dying out.

You would become a lot of people’s hero if you brought over some for the PS3 also. We only have three turn-based JRPGs in nearly four years.

The fans of turn-based RPGs are still here. If you build it, they will come =)

Handhelds are nice, but they can’t compare with a full up console version. I’ll be sure to buy this to scratch that itch while I continue to dream of turn-based RPGs coming to consoles.

  • Thanks for the reply Aram, and I got my eye on some of those games (Crimson Gem Saga, Persona and Hammering Heroe) but are you guys planning to release Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner to the ps store?

    • Onvertic,

I think it is safe to say that any titles from our PSP back catalog not currently available on PSN have an obstacle or two associated with making them available online. Hopefully at some point we can offer every one of our titles!

      Thanks for the question.

  • Hmm I’d not heard of this one, I’ll def check it out! I’ve been a HUGE fan of Atlus ever since I saved up my lawn mowing money and picked up Tail Concerto for the PS1! XD Love you guys. Thanks again for ALL of the great games you’ve published here in the states. You guys rock!

  • I will second #13-colstripcapn’s post. I love the turn based RPGs the most, but I do like them all. Thanks for the support, I will be buying this and 3D dot game heroes in the coming weeks. You rock ATLAS!

  • Gamestop has 3d.heroes on sale for $30. Get it while it is hot.

Most fun I’ve had in months on the PS3.

Also second the recommendation by Aram for Demon’s souls. The game was frustrating. Yes, it is difficult, but I kept making the same simple mistake time and time again. More frustrated with my self then the game. When I finished it, I felt like I won an Olympic medal.

  • @Aram

For how long have you wanted to use “force be with you”, In a blog post?

  • Does any1 at playstation know if and when naruto shippuden ultimate ninja heroes 3 will be put on the Playstation Network for us ppl with psp go’s? It’ll have been in stores for 3 weeks on Tuesday :( That’s the on;y game i want and i keep seeing ads about it on all the game sites i go on about how it’s in stores now. :(

  • ill be getting this in a few weeks, dont have the funds right now:( soon it will be mine…

  • Haha, so I did. I think it was just the excitement! You rock Aram and ATLUS!

  • @Aram

Thanks for your reply, i bought Demon Souls the first day it was released but i been stuck at the second tower for ages now lol, its truly an unforgiving game :(

  • lol @ becoming a “Reknowned Hero”

Going to pick this up for my Go. Thanks Atlus.

  • I’ve had $50 on my PSN account since last Christmas just waiting for a good game to put on my Go – this is it! I downloaded it last night and put a couple solid hours of play into it. Very very good game so far, thanks!

  • I’m iporting this game and can’t wait to play it.

I do have one request though, please open an Atlus branch in the EU!
We love you guys but importing your games is rather harsh on my wallet!

    At least consider it. :)

Keep up the awesome efforts Atlus.

  • Has the game the original japanese voices?

    • deivikun,

Alas, no, there is no option to switch to the original Japanese voices. It’s something we work the developers to try and include whenever possible, but it isn’t available in this instance.

      Thanks for the question!

  • bring on the RPGs! I’m glad there’s a company out there bringing us some good stuff, I’ll definitely get it

  • Ah, damn. Why, oh, why must my PSP be broken? You guys do such great work. Like RPG Gods, you are.

So… Any word on Disgaea 4? =D How about Persona 5? (Seriously, I’ll sell you one of my livers if you’ll make this happen. I don’t need them anyway. I don’t drink. Or is it kidneys that do that? You can have one of each.)

  • I picked this up on Tuesday and have been really enjoying it. Played it until my thumb got sore (the PSP is not very ergonomic, so this was only a few hours).

It reminds me a lot of the first Wild Arms.

Will start playing again when my thumb gets better.

  • And BTW, Disgaea is from NISA. Atlus did the first one, but after NISA was formed, they’ve localized the rest.

  • best RPG i’ve ever played/bought on a handheld. replayability, choices, 2 sides, a karma system thing, voice acting(slightly disappointed that there’s only english. i just really prefer to hear the original since a dubs feel a bit lacking at times), deep story, graphics, AND unique combat system. i hope you bring more great games the ps3/psp/psn :D
i was expecting the game to be a bit bigger though. seems to offer a lot. how many titles are there in the game? o_o

it was a choice between modnation and hexyz force, the winner was clear!

  • Will be buying this day one!! Thank you for putting this out in hard copy form, ie UMD. I know longer buy just Down Load only Games for the PSP, as Sony burned me to the tune of $1000.00 with Sony Connect Music Service, that closed Online. And Yes I made triple Back Ups of all my Music, but the Hard Drives died, and the two 8 gig Memory Sticks just corrupted on their own..So I lost over $1000 dollars worth of Music from Sony Connect, So I only buy Hard Copies of Music and Games I really want, and I really want this game…So thank You for a UMD version of this Game!!!!! YOU FREAKING ROCK

    psn:frostquake

  • 3D Dot Game Heros, Hexyz Force now, Persona 3 soon…Not to mention all the Trauma Center stuff you guys force me to buy.

I would luv to see Thousand Arms released as a PS1 Classic, because it really is.

Puyo Pop Fever as a HD remix maybe, Hellnight…would be very cool. Even Xexyz as a Mini perhaps…ohhh yaaa.

Atlus, you guys have a direct link to my wallet, keep up the hella good work.

  • Can you tell me when this will be avalible on store shelves? The end of your post said “this week” however it is Friday and no retailer in my area has it, even Amazon.com is missing it (they have a couple third party sellers with it at higher than MSRP).

I’d love to buy this, but I can’t find it :S I’m only interested in the UMD version.

  • So…am I alone here wondering if Persona will ever drop in price? I mean I guess its my fault for getting a PSP Go, but its kind of a slap in the face when every retailer is selling the UMD version for 20 something dollars and the PSN version for 40 bucks.

Who’s in charge of prices on the PSN? Sony or Atlus? Why no love for the PSN? Sony would be wise to think outside the box to sell this system and its games and it would be nice for them to start by giving a slight discount on digital edition games in order to market the PSP Go.

Honestly, I just want prices to match so I don’t feel like I’m paying extra because I bought a Go.

  • @35

It is very rare for digital versions to drop in price. Retail locations drop the prices because physical copies take up physical space, and to retailers inventory costs money.

Atlus is in control of how much the game sells for on the PSN. Sony certainly takes their chunk of the money but they do not set the price.

Sorry, but you like all PSP Go owners are just getting screwed =/
