Allow us to get your week on track, PlayStation.Blog readers. SOUNDtrack, that is. SIGNED soundtrack, even. That’s right, we’ve got 10 soundtracks graced by the pen/magic marker/writing instrument of one Shoji Meguro, master composer of games like Persona 3 and Persona 4, and we’re giving them away. Here. Just to you folks.
“How do I enter?” you inquire, leaning forward in excitement. Easy! Just tell us what you’re most excited about regarding the upcoming P3P as a comment under this post. Maybe it’s the fact that you can take one of the highest rated RPGs of all time on the road now? Or the cast of memorable characters you just can’t get enough of? Or the dating sim elements? The fantastic music? The great art? The addicting gameplay? The original story?
10 lucky winners will be randomly (or as close to randomly as possible) chosen and sent a SIGNED soundtrack CD. Only North American residents are eligible to win, however. It’s not that we don’t love you rest-of-the-world’ers; we just want to focus this giveaway on the region in which the game is actually releasing.
Why are we doing this? Well, we’d love to use this opportunity to remind you that:
- a) Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable, Atlus’s upcoming handheld RPG epic, is right around the corner, releasing in stores and via PlayStation Network on July 6th.
- b) It features one of the best soundtracks ever, and in order to further emphasize that point, we want to give a few of those soundtracks away. SIGNED.
In case you all are a bit unfamiliar with the P3P soundtrack, perhaps we should share a sample with you:

“The music seems awesome,” you say, pensively prodding your chin with your finger, “but I’m not guaranteed to win it. I just wish there was some cool bonus with Persona 3 Portable that I was guaranteed to receive.”
Funny you’d say that, because there’s still time to pre-order your copy of Persona 3 Portable at a participating retailer (GameStop and Amazon in the United States and Canada) and receive a collectible Junpei Baseball Cap. It’s modeled after the one he wears in the game!
“Wow, they’re sure giving us a lot of physical awesome to celebrate the release of the game, but what about the game itself?” you muse aloud to no one in particular, gently tapping your pointer fingers together in front of your mouth.
We’ve already told you in previous posts about how Persona 3 Portable puts you in the shoes of a team of gifted high schoolers forced to use their developing supernatural abilities to save the world from destruction, and how the game cleverly mixes addicting RPG dungeon crawling with social sim elements. And how the PSP system release introduces a new female protagonist who experiences the events of the game from a new perspective, not to mention the addition of one-button menu shortcuts, a streamlined user interface, and more.
We’d say more about the game, but really, why not let others speak for us? Early reviews are in, Blog readers, and they’re glowing:

I’m excited to have another excuse to play the game. I’ve already sunk over 150 hours into previous versions of the game, and I shudder to think of how long I’ll spend playing this one. Plus, the updated battle system will be great. I got really sick of Mitsuru spamming Marin Karin in FES.
I’m excited about actually being able to finish Persona 3. As a gainfully employed adult I barely have time to sit in front of a TV for hours on end. I can squeeze in much more gameplay on a handheld.
I’m looking forward to the new option for a female main character, as well as the convenience of being able to play persona wherever I go. Also, can’t forget about the awesome hat.
I’m not too excited of the fact the animated cutscenes are gone, but the character models are nice too. So there’s that to be excited about. The whole girl character and apparently (saving shinji) is pretty radical as well. Awesome music, awesome story, all on my psp and on the go? Sign me up.
Too bad there’s no Main Character headphones to go along with my Junpei hat, I bet I could nab all the girls with that.
Never got around to playing Persona 3 so I’m psyched to have a reason to get out my PSP now.
I’m excited to see how playing as a girl will change the story, social links, and anything else. I am also excited to play the game again where I can finally control all my party members.
I had the misfortune of missing out on the PS2 version. So I am very excited to get my hands on this one. I already have my pre-order and I can’t wait to play it while I am traveling to and from school. Nothing beats an amazing atlus RPG that I can take anywhere!
The thing I’m most excited to see Yukari’s shower scene one the go, lol. I get to re-build relationships with characters like Yukari, Mitsuru, Fuuka, and to have a forbidden relationship with Maya. Now I get to play as a girl and see another side of the story. I wonder what kinda of situations I will be in with her *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*? And lets not forget the killer soundtrack, which I ripped of my Persona 3 cd and onto my iPod. I also can’t wait to play with the new/”Persona 4″ battle system, which should have been there from the start. The sheer fact I can play my second most favorite game, first one being Persona 4, anywhere is the thing I’m most excited about.
Now I can drop my Japanese classes, return my Japanese to English dictionary, and return my friend’s imported copy. I spent a good portion of a summer in my house playing the original on the PS2 and didn’t get much sun, but now it on the PSP I can go anywhere with it. I love you Atlus, you always know how to treat your loyal fans. Now if we can only get Persona 5 on the PS3 than I can die happy, though with a lot of good games coming I really don’t want to die lol.
I’m mostly interested to see how the new female lead factors in to the story of P3.
I’m also curious how the game handles on a handheld. It’ll be nice to have a great, long game that I can take anywhere.
I think what I’m most excited about in P3P is being able to play as a female protagonist. Can’t wait for all the weird dialogue that I’m sure Atlus has cooked up!
I’m looking forward to the female protagonist, to see what kind of twists it makes in the main narrative. Also, come on, its Persona 3 on a handheld! To me, this is a bigger deal then portable versions of Metal Gear or GTA.
I’m excited about being able to take one of my favorite RPG experiences on the go. After playing through the original Persona completely revamped on the PSP, I’m looking forward to the chance to take this awesome beast of a game on. Also, having more options to play will make the gameplay unique and intriguing.
Here at AnimePython.com, we’ve been excited for this release for a long time! The well written music & story of Persona 4 hooked us, and we’ve never been so pleased to be caught by anything. Playing through Persona 3 was great in part because of the music featured on this disc. Playing through Persona 3 FES? Also enjoyable. Playing P3P? Well, we can’t wait to find out. Mr. Shoji Meguro, thank you for all you’ve done. Whether we win an autographed soundtrack or not, we are eternally grateful.
I was never able to finish the game on PS2, and am really looking forward to finally doing it!
I’m excited about P3P because I really enjoy a chance to return to the p3 world and the p3 characters…it’s nice to have the female protag also so I can pursue Akihiko vicariously through her lol. Also, it means I’m buying a PSP finally and buying more PSP games I’ve been waiting to get. Which is…a good thing?
I can NOT wait for Persona 3 Portable!
I have played every single Persona game since the first one on the PSOne and love the series to death.
I am excited to finally have the chance to play Persona on the Go! Whether on the road, the air, or relaxing in bed…I’m going to Enjoy it!
Love the music too! Would love to win the Soundtrack CD and add it to my ever-growing Persona Collection!
One of your biggest Western Fans right here!
Love the stories, game mechanics, characters, everything!
I may be a fanboy, but I don’t care! Love PERSONA!
Controllable Teammates.
That is all.
Being able to play P3 again with upgraded elements.
I love the fact that you are now able to control every character during combat. That’s right, I’m a control freak and there’s nothing you can do about it because I’m in control!
…
…
Ahem… sorry about that. It seems my love of all things Shin Megami Tensei had made me lose control for a moment. It will not happen again.
I absolutely loved Persona 3, I already burned through the PS2 version (once on the standard, and again on FES) and through the answer, totalling over 250 hours. Through all that time, I only had one gripe with the game, which was not being able to direct commands (an issue fixed with Persona 4).
Now that this issue is resolved, and the game is coming out portably with a SECOND storyline from a female perspective, I’ll easily be burning another 200 hours into an already remarkable game. I cannot wait till the 6th! :D
What to look forward to…. What else but replaying a game I’ve already put nearly two hundred hours into… anywhere I want on the PSP? Well, that and the female protagonist.
I’m looking forward to replaying what might me my most favorite rpg ever. I played through FES over the course of 6 months and loved everything about it; the characters, the visuals, the music, the story, the animation, it’s simply an expertly crafted game and I can’t wait to experience it again with all the added improvements.
I’ll finally have full control over my party members! Now if I die, it will be entirely on me and not due to a rage inducing decision by a party member! I love the Persona series, and 3 was a great game, but it really grated on me. I’ll be buying a PSP solely for this game.
Im most excited about the social links and the character social link arcs in the new female protagonist storyline. Personally that was my favorite part of P3 and P3fes, so getting to enjoy the same characters in different interactions seems kinda awesome.
Why am I excited? I’ve had Persona 3: FES in my closet for over a year now since my first playthrough. I’d LOVE to give it another go, but I logged over 100 hours in my first play, and I just don’t get the time to sit in front of a TV that much anymore; another playthrough would take me months.
I’m pretty glad for the chance to play again a few minutes at a time. Handheld gaming is where I make the most serious progress these days for that very reason. Plus, the new female MC scenario promises to keep things interesting the second time around.
I am looking forward to experiencing the excitement of Persona 3 again but this time on the go! I can’t wait to be killing shadows at school or at work or just in the living room when I don’t want to move the PS2. I loved everything about Persona 3 and Persona 4 and I just can’t wait to experience P3 again from a female point of view with the awesome improvements of P4’s battle system and especially try to comprehend the badassness of it and by that I mean date Akihiko!
Persona 3 FES was my absolute favorite RPG for many reasons. Yes, it beat out Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger. The visual style was unique, the gameplay was fairly accessible though still strategic, and I can’t think of many games that have a system similar to that of the social links.
So obviously when I found out there would be a PSP version, I decided to preorder it (already had a PSP because of the Persona remake), and the Junpei hat was the icing on the cake. The soundtrack to Persona 3 was outstanding (Heck, when going to college for the first time all I could remember was the dorm music from the game), and it really fit the tone of the the game well. As I enjoyed Meguro’s soundtrack for P3FES, I quickly scooped up soundtracks to past SMT games (Digital Devil Saga 1+2, and then I bought a first edition of Nocturne for it as well). It’s been a great audio experience, and having a signed copy of the Persona 3 Portable soundtrack would just be fantastic.
If I could have every game in portable form, I would be very happy. So, of course, P3P is a big deal for me.
I’m slightly disappointed that this rendition doesn’t contain the extras of The Answer, yet the baseball cap is what made me preorder it (and the fact that you can make MShe talk with Junpei makes me giddy with delight, considering Junpei’s more or less my reason for adoring Persona 3… aside from all of the other good stuff).
Persona 3 was one of the last JRPG’s that I really enjoyed. Besides a small handful of others, there have been very few JRPG’s that have been as satisfying as Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Final Fantasy VII, etc. Persona 3 (and 4) is a groundbreaking game in the fact that it was a both an RPG and life simulator. That and the fact that it had a compelling story with memorable characters, excellent music, and so much more.
But that’s enough talk. If I had to pick one reason why I’m excited about this game is because I can bring one of the best JRPG games of all time with me on the go with even more updates than Persona 3: FES, like Persona 4’s battle system. That and because I get a sweet Junpei hat for pre-ordering the game at Gamestop!

The story, the art style, the music, the gameplay in this game is awesome, and the fact that you can play it in the road is excellent, im very excited
I’ve played through the game three times now. Twice in the original version and once in FES. Persona 3’s soundtrack was the first game soundtrack I ever owned, and since I have bought many like it. In fact I’ve traveled to Japan and have purchased the FES soundtrack as well as I love the music so much. Persona 3 ranks as my number 1 game of all time, and has done a lot to influence me since I’ve played it. Not in a… creepy way, mind you.
All strangeness aside, I’m mostly just looking for an excuse to play through the game again. Oh and the hat… because that is one awesome hat.
Sadly, I have yet to play through Persona 3. I have two incarnations of the game (original release and FES), but I just can’t ever get around to playing my playstation 2…. it’s a hassle since my PS2 is in a different room than my Non-BC ps3. I do, however, get around to playing my psp a lot more as I wait outside of interview rooms and while I play the waiting game called life. I loved the first two, so I expect the 3rd to be great… and hopefully the 4th is also brought to be portable or put on a compilation BD for the PS3
Um, a question first: Is Mexico considered in the giveaway? technically, is inside North America and the game is being released in this region, also.
What I’m excited about? Everything! think about it: one of the best RPG’s in recent memory and now I’m able to take it with me to wherever I want! If it’s needed to nail it down to 2 things: The art style, which is very important to me, since I’m a big fan of Shigenori Soejima-san’ designs and the gameplay mechanics, which is a distinctive thing of the SMT franchise.
marche1990,
According to the almighty Wikipedia, Mexico is geopolitically considered to be entirely within North America. So, according to our own rules, yes, you would be eligible. Good luck to you!
