Hi everyone, the next PlayStation 3 (PS3) system software update is coming soon. Firmware update 3.41 will add recommendations for games and videos on PlayStation Store. When you’re browsing through the details of a particular title, you’ll see a new “You May Like” section on the right-hand side. This section lists additional items based on the purchases of other PlayStation Network members who have purchased the item you’re currently looking at.
You can then click on this section to zoom in on the list and scroll the recommended titles.
This feature is a great way to discover new games that you may not know about, and it’s another step toward making the shopping experience easier and better for you all — similar to the five-star ratings feature we added in the last firmware update. Please note that while the 3.41 update will be released shortly, the recommendations feature on PlayStation Store is slated to go live by the end of July.
In addition to this PS3 update, the next PSP (PlayStation Portable) firmware update (v.6.31) will be coming as well. This is a minor update, and system software stability during use of some PSP format software titles has been improved.

Update: For those users who are replacing the PS3 hard disk drive: We have been aware of the symptoms with the system software update 3.41, released on July 27, and that it will cause the update to stop in some occasions while replacing the PlayStation 3 (PS3) Hard Disk Drive (HDD) if the PS3 system is installed with version 3.41.
To resolve these symptoms, we have released a new version of system software update 3.41 with a very minor change (the version number does not change) on August 2nd. If you are experiencing such symptoms when replacing the HDD of your PS3 system, we kindly ask you to use the latest data and try again. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and appreciate your understanding and continued support.

From a long time user perspective, this might be a “useless” or “unwanted” update. But from a developer/publisher or new user perspective this is a nice little tool. Developer/publishers get more traffic for their PSN releases that might have gotten lost over time amongst the newer releases. New users might find a game they never heard about before. Yes, power users can search the web/wikis/forums for info about games, but for a casual user, this is nice. A quick 5 minute update.
It´s been way to long since we got anything usefull :( It would be nice if you guys would do something with first page of most voted idea’s on Playstation Share.

ALL I want is to see the trophy sync’ing bug that was introduced in 3.40 fixed and returned back to normal and for Sony to never break any more things in the future!! All the new features in the last year have been crud… the worst part is we’ve lost Linux and now trophy sync’ing between multiple ps3’s if we have them in our house. HORRIBLE :(
I would like to see cross game chat… considering there in-game chat already sucks they probably need to fix that first. I am happy playing one-player games on PS3 and Multi-player on Xbox360. It is not about chat it is about stability and xbox is better. Thanks for the recommendation store update, I thought that is why Gamespot exists. But when you lose your store purchase licenses when your console breaks for video download it really underminds the consumer. I buy Zune media only because someone who thought “it might be useful to make share data easy and cross-device compatible.” Not to mention I have already owned 2 ps3’s that have needed repair so forgive me if I am a bit bitter. With any more resriction and poor updates, not even the Uncharted Series will keep me with Sony.

Any update for deleting trophies I can’t earn anymore because I sold the game back? I’m all about my trophies man. lol

We want Codecs, Cross Game Chat and a better browser. What we get? Just cosmetic changes that pales in comparizon with the core features we are tired of asking for!

hey how about this for a good one dont have updte that eat up your (f-word) hardrive cause i got a 120 gb nd i only got like 3 games (i trade in alot) but i only have played 8 in the past nd killa-bite(kb) isnt al tho that much (1000kb to to a mb right?) but hey here is a useful thing when you get an update cant you skipped it cause on xbox you can skip the update and play gta 4 nd if you have to update on sony`s ps3 the choices are start a new game or pay the internet bill when you dont ahve the money anyways try changing the look of the thing you look a try having playstation plus you can use your own pictures from your hardrive! that would work

The Online GamePlay and Sound-in my Headset is very very erratic, I have a 20MBps Internet (I don’t down/uploading with my pc, just want to playing) and my friend have too… WHY??

I wish you would put the Playstation+ content for the PSP all in one place in the PSP store the way it is in the PS3 store. As it is, it’s hard to find everything if I’m browsing from my PSP.

I just finished downloading the mandatory firmware update and from what I’m seeing there really isn’t much change done to the PS Store. The “recommendations” feature isn’t there.
I installed the update and my PS3 ended up freezing 3 different times within a span of 3 hours. The games were Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time and Uncharted 2. Not cool.
This is just another useless update. What I really want is an update to bring back PS2 backwards compatibility on the PS3. I have my old PS2 games and wish to play some of them, but don’t have a PS2 anymore. And I don’t wish to spend over $100 for a new machine when the first PS3s were capable of playing the old games. Why was this feature removed? An update like that would be helpful and more useful than me finding it easier to spend money in the PSN store.

Oh, wow. another money-centric update designed to boost sales in the PS store. And still nothing remotely useful or requested from the PS gaming community. how about finally giving us something we can actually use, like a browser update so we can actually USE thhe internet instead of looking at all the pretty colors, or maybe some patches to allow us to play some of the more popular video formats like .mov or .mpg. or let us play our own music, at least in PS home, because your muzak SUCKS!!! and if you can’t give us anything we actually ask for, at least stop denying access to PS HOME if we choose not to waste precious hard-drive space on your useless updates. i personally am on the verge of selling my ps3 and buying an x-box, because every update so far has caused more problems than they have fixed. get your act straight, sony.

even if we are getting these things for free, why does sony keep wasting their time and money giving us things we neither ask for nor want? a company that wants to be successful listens to the consumers’ feedback and responds accordingly. these guys on the other hand seem to be ignoring their customers’ wishes and purposefully pushing junk in our faces. it’s almost insulting to all ps users.if the platform won’t support these requests, just say so, sony.
