AlphabeTees Coming this Thursday to PlayStation Home + the Best of the PlayStation Home Community!

Locust_Star's Avatar + Posted by Locust_Star on Aug 25, 2010 // PlayStation Home Community Manager

Last week we offered you a preview of a brand new game known as AlphabeTees – a social trivia game exclusive to PlayStation Home. The reaction from the community was, to say the least, incredibly positive. Your overwhelming enthusiasm is the reason why it brings us such pleasure to announce that AlphabeTees will be releasing this Thursday into the wide world of PlayStation Home.

AlphabeTees Poster Lineup

AlphabeTees takes the standard trivia game to a whole new level. Think: Scrabble (or a crossword puzzle) that requires teamwork, with you and your friends using clothing to answer VeeMee’s trivia questions. Here’s a quick overview of the AlphabeTees game play:

  • Buy the AlphabeTees Game Pack from Central Plaza (or Threads in the PlayStation Home Mall).
  • Look out for questions on the Central Plaza Jumbotron screen.
  • Find friends who own the AlphabeTees game pack.
  • Solve the question by lining up with your friends and spelling out the answer using the AlphabeTees shirts.
  • Take a photo of you and your friends spelling out the answer using your PlayStation Home camera.
  • Upload your photo at the AlphabeTees game point in Central Plaza (simply go to the AlphabeTees kiosk, open the browser, and upload your photo!).
  • Keep your eyes on the Central Plaza Jumbotron, where the winning photos will be displayed the day after the question has been posted.

To get everyone started, VeeMee will be giving away a sample pack of 5 letters from the AlphabeTees game pack to all members of the PlayStation Home community. Get yours this Thursday, August 26th from the AlphabeTees game point in Central Plaza.

We’ve been seeing a lot of people turning into crime-fighting guardians of the community (and even a few nefarious archnemeses) ever since we released the first round of our PlayStation Home Superheroes and Supervillains costume packs last week. This week, we add some new characters into the mix – Captain Inflame-O, Sandman, and The Cyborg. Add these characters to your collection by visiting the Costumes store in the PlayStation Home Mall this week (while you are there, be sure to check the Sodium store for updates – a full list of content can be found under the Latest Update tab in your Menu Pad come Thursday morning).

PlayStation Home - CaptainInflameO PlayStation Home - Cyborg

PlayStation Home - Sandman

People seem to forget that Home is not a game. It’s a social application with minigames such as any other social application. Home is a place to visit between PS3 games. It’s a place to hangout and come down after a couple of hecktic hours of MAG. GTA or any other game. It doesn’t have to have a new space or minigame every week. Sometimes the updates will focus on customization such as clothes, hand held items or hair. The new tee shirts will hopefully etice some of us to interact more and socialize.

As for the alphabetees, I think they will come in handy even when not playing the game. Imagine you and your friends getting together to form the question “Will you marry me?” to your unsuspecting girlfriend. Or perhaps a “Happy Birthday!” to a sister or brother?

Tomorrows update may not be the big and exciting update we all may want, but it does contribute to the main purpose of Home: Interaction and socializing. And a bit of customization to top it off with.

And don’t forget, Home will be here for a long time. There will be more bigger updates as it continues to grow.

ShortnSassy37: I already know this. The fact is that this is the third week they’ve delayed it, so how are we supposed to know when it will actually come out?

Did you guys completely rip off that Sandman costume from Spider-man or is that a coincidence. Also that first hero costume realased on the last update looks like robocop, coincidence too right? If your gonna give us superhero/villan costumes maybe you could talk to DC or Marvel. Give me a Venom costume and i’ll glady pay you 6 bucks for that. Home is certainly not shaping up into what people want it to be but if you just give em some more time hopefully it will get better. One last thing how about a world store where you can buy stuff released in other regions but not in NA and vice-versa, lots of stuff in Eu I would love to buy but can’t.

Good Grief, Charlie Brown!

Still No New Street Fighter Costumes. Or any NEW Tekken Costumes.

Here 2010 is almost over with and we haven’t had one single update for Street Fighter or Tekken at all in 2010. This is not GOOD HOME. Ur letting the Fighting Game fans down this year Big Time.

Don’t let the rest of 2010 go by without getting some new Street Fighter and Tekken Costumes on Home this year before time runs out on this Year.

Make it So Home.

This is the power the ps3 has and its NOT being maximized! http://www.nowgamer.com/columns/techblog-2.0/505/how-sony-pissed-off-the-us-military

Home and Game Developers, you can see how passionate we are about Home, this system has alot to offer so make a department to focus on it as “a platform” and get the multimedia going, most ppl complaining are Home Vets before open beta so as the new folks also get tired they too will rant and ya losing old money and what happs when new money dwindles will Home get more slow to Q/A… Something or someone need to be on hand (where’s jack buser and his “We will be more intouch” speach) because this didnt happend when Ted “the dog” was Home Manager. Use the Power of the System!!

For a social application Home sure is quiet in there. As a ‘social’ application, Home fails miserably.

How so? I see people socializing all of the time. Perhaps we are on at different hours? I saw a couple hundred people socializing in the spaces I visited just a few minutes ago.

I may be wrong, but perhaps your intent is to purposefully spread negativity by overlooking the obvious?

the ps3 browser WILL WORK for this right ? i dont mean to be sarcastic , but historically speaking it wouldnt be the first time SCEA tried to implement use of the increasingly obsolete browser . for example . in the whats new section their was a section that opened the browser so you could enter a modnation contest … only when you got there , you found you could not enter because the browser wasnt functioning correctly and RIGHT NOW in the whats new section theres a section for subways contest … only when you click through to it . it fails to open and freezes the system . so THIS IS GOING TO WORK RIGHT ?

Is the community update in the Home PDA going to work this week? The last update it is showing listed, is the one from August 12th. Kinda sucks, since that is the only real way of knowing how and where to get all of the new stuff.

You know, it’s funny- I was in some of the first closed betas for home- and it seems like since then all they’ve done is take away features (like putting your pictures in your home space, unless they gave that back?), and added a bunch of costumes to suck your money away. I’m shocked that the business model works at all- a pure micro transaction machine with nothing much else to offer. It’s amazing.

What the-! Guys get five costumes this week? FIVE?! Plus Top Gun and whatever else I missed?! And us girls get nothing?!

NEXT WEEK, to make this FAIR, give us girls 5 cool costumes as well as exclusive clothes from a movie/game and completely ignore the guys for a change.

I mean it, do it.

I`m not the only one complaining about this!

The home “updates” are stunningly lackluster in the extreme. We all know home is just a marketing tool and “revenue stream” for SCEA but the lack of effort being put into it is astounding. Perverts & racists running wild, hundreds of bugs going months with no fixes. What little added to Home is of poor quality and the purchased items are just not worth the increasingly high prices.

Sony you could have had the brass ring, and a worldwide monopoly on manufacture and sales of the brass ring. Instead you melted it down for 39 cents worth of brass.
