  • Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction?
Yup. Time to play some Rock Band 3.

  • I hope you guys are still twisting Pink Floyd’s arms until they agree to release some of their songs in Rock Band!!!

  • Ahhh, the 15th birthday is killing my wallet

  • Finally, some Rock Band respect for the system that started Frequency and Guitar Hero all those years ago…

    I’ll take it!

  • Sweet sales!! I’m saving my cash for Legend, though. Thanks, JD!

  • nice! These gonna be on sale in the EU too? :)

  • Cool, I may just be picking up that CCR pack now.

I do have a question though, is there going to be a voucher code like Rock Band 2 had that will transfer songs from the RB2 disk to RB3?

  • Aww, c’mon. I have most of those track packs, and don’t want the rest. Did you guys look at my personal collection when you made these deals?

  • Talk about burning early adopters on the CCR Pack. You put out only one good pack of DLC this year, and then turn around and stab everyone in the back who got it prior to this sale (along with no pro guitar charts before RB 3).

Also, what’s the over/under on how many things will still be broken in RB 3 from the first 2 games? You know what I’m talking about:

One massive save file for all tracks, unable to delete single songs from your hard drive.

Voice chat still broken in online multiplayer.

Game that looks and runs inferior to it’s 360 counterpart and more like the Wii version.

Will keep expectations low, thanks again.

  • Important point, here, guys: these songs are NOT going to have Pro-Mode or keyboard charts if you buy them now…but you better believe AFTER RB3 is released, that they are going to be re-released with the new bells and whistles. And Harmonix WILL say that there is no way to update existing DLC to add these things…so you’ll get to buy them again if you want to play them…

    Caveat emptor.

  • Agree with #10. Buyer beware.

Also, as a follow-up to my previous post, add an install option for this game already. I shouldn’t have to wait 30 seconds to load up one song to play.

  • will left-handed players have an option to play using a left-handed Pro guitar? Can we just string the Fender MIDI guitar backward, or will the tilt sensor no longer work? Several of my friends and I want to pre-order, but need a real answer on this issue!

Does RB3 have higher quality audio codecs/bitrates versus RB2?

Another vote from me for Dance Central on PS3 with HD audio. It’s cool with me if I have to hold a Move in order to get better skeletal tracking. Then again, Kung Fu Live doesn’t need the Move to do it’s (albeit simpler) tracking.

  • oh look… more complaints… cry more people.

  • PS: Please add tracks from the new Devo album as Pro tracks in RB3!

  • Alright, Project…buy ’em twice if you want. No one’s crying, just letting people know WHY this sale is happening.

  • @I3rand0

Just because you have limited tastes in music doesn’t mean the CCR pack was the only good DLC to come out this year.

    @Quijanoth
Seriously, why don’t you actually do some research first? This is John Drake’s comment about DLC from PAX:

“We have the technology to update older songs and DLC for keyboards, pro-guitar, and pro-bass, and maybe harmonies. Two things: 1. Keep in mind, especially any of you familiar with the RBN, there are no keyboard audio streams in those old songs, there’s like actual substantial changes, so if you miss a note with the keyboard, the keyboard goes away, which we think is really important for gameplay. [2.] And it’s a lot of f**king work.”

So yes, it is possible to update old DLC.

Anyway, great sale, will definitely pick up the Slipknot and Night Range packs so “Before I Forget” and “Sister Christian” don’t feel lonely when I pick up Rock Band 3.

  • sorry if there is a double post, ps blog apparently doesn’t like posting my comments… -____-

  • What the? Anyway…
Awesome! Stone Temple Pilots, White Stripes, Foo Fighters, R.E.M, NIN… I know where my next PSN card is going.

  • John,

Great sale for the PS3, but would have it really killed you guys to include the psp downloadable content in the sale? It’s a slap in the face to your costomers that the only version of rock band available for purchase is the lite version which contains 5 songs. I know u can purchase many of the songs which are on the umd version of the game, but it would cost a fortune to buy all of them. Please include the psp in future sales and release a full version of rock band on the psn store. Thanks for reading.

  • Great sale, about time, I say!
But maybe my math is wrong here, but how is $2.99 50% of $5.49? Shouldn’t it be $2.75?

Some great packs there though. Kinda annoyed I just bought the Creedance one, but oh well it was worth it either way.

  • @Dizazter the sale is up to 50%, not all the price cuts are 50%

  • Wow harmonix, never seen u on the PSBlog before, Welcome to PSBlog harmonix.

  • Will i be able to extract all my RB2 and RB1 songs to RB3?

  • @Superstrokey1123

RB1 has already been exported, so those don’t need to be exported again. As for RB2, we know it’ll be exported, we just don’t know what songs will make the jump nor how much it’ll cost. We’ll probably know in a week or two because RB1 was able to export about a month before RB2’s release IIRC.

  • I hope they all work together in RB3, if not then its nodice for me but if so. GOtta get it.

  • Dlc music should be worth 0.99 cents all the time :P

  • Does anybody know if these are gonna be compatible with the Pro mode in RB3???

  • Sweet, I usually buy the songs i want when they’re released. But I havent bought the White Stripes pack, or CCR. Ill be getting those!

  • #26

From what I’ve heard, no. Maybe some tracks, but not all.

  • Thanx #27

  • Give us more Incubus songs..! Their songs are perfect for rock band

  • Love this idea, but sadly most of those songs that interest me I already own

  • Nice sale, will definitely have to pick some of these up.

  • Worthwhile sale indeed. But give us Linkin Park DLC already! I’ve been waiting for it since I first got RB!

  • @ libreg:
So, Harmonix says it is difficult and impractical to add the new stuff to DLC,and you read that as “but we’ll still do it?”
But yeah…bad research on my part. I’m sure they’ll just update our old stuff for free.

  • Good stuff. As a regular supporter of RB I already have most of these track packs. I had been mulling over the Pantera album…guess its time to have a heart attack on drums…..

  • @35/Quijanoth

They’ve said that with RB3, they have built in the infrastructure to support updates to DLC. They’re fully capable of going back and updating songs, but have noted that it’s a huge amount of work involved (the pro guitar charts supposedly take as much time to do as the entire rest of the DLC file). They’ve even asked us on numerous occasions to speak up on the forums about which songs and artists we’d like to see updated with keys/harmonies/pro guitar (there’s a thread that is over 500 posts on this very topic, making requests so Harmonix has an idea of what to go after first).

We aren’t going to have to buy the songs twice. At most, we’ll have to buy the updated pieces, but it’s not going to nullify your purchasing any of the existing content right now. They’ve said a number of times that they don’t want to charge us again for things we’ve already bought, but that doesn’t mean we won’t have to buy the upgrades. They’re not going to simply re-release the song and give you everything that is currently there plus more, but rather release only the upgrade material separately on top of the existing files you can currently purchase.

  • I don’t see the price drop if I try to purchase DLC mentionned in this post. Are the rebate only applicable for US resident? (I’m accessing store from Canada)

  • Ditto to NoLaws’ comment, except I’m in the US. When will the discounts show up on the store?

  • Funny how “now” seems to mean “some point in the future.”

  • And here I was just about to by Writing on the Walls. ALWAYS happy to see a HMX rep on the blog. Post again soon!

  • This promotion will be available in Europe?

  • Will I be able to play songs from Rockband 2 on Rockband 3?

  • And also will the keyboard controller be sold just by itself?

  • @43 and 44

    Yes and yes.

  • when is this getting on the PSN?

  • Did I miss something? Isn’t this “Now through October 4th? So how come nothing is on sale yet?

  • Great, I just got the red light… You guys should keep this promotion going for one extra week so I can buy all these songs… ;)

  • Someone can tell me if this promotion will be available in Europe?

  • Darn, and I just bought the Offspring track pack :(
