Minigolf, Move Updates, DLC and FREE CODES – All from ZEN Studios

51 2

There is so much going on with Planet Minigolf, I don’t even know where to start this post. What is more exciting, the new PlayStation Move Motion Controller, new DLC for the game, or the fact that we are giving you a chance to win free codes?

Let’s start with Move – the Planet Minigolf game patch has been released, so break out those shiny new controllers and test out the new gameplay. Don’t have Move yet? Check out the trailer below to get a taste of what to expect.

The patch also includes a bunch of game updates, including new camera controls, a practice mode, 3-player multiplayer mode (both online and local), scoreboard viewing options, improved voice chat quality and more! The demo is also Move updated, so if you want to test it out before buying, download the demo and check that out.

We’ve also just released the first DLC course, Stronghold Island. Set in the Mediterranean Sea, this beautiful island course brings four new trophies, more customization options for building your own courses and some great minigolf challenges. The course is $2.49 and available now.

Now for the really good part, we’re giving away five Planet Minigolf & Stronghold Island code packs. To win, go to the Zen Studios Facebook page, like us, and post the code “PMG WINNER” to our wall. We will randomly select five winners and send you codes for both Planet Minigolf and Stronghold Island.

As always, we truly appreciate your feedback, so feel free to ask questions, leave comments and we will get back to you with answers and thoughts.

  • Very cool, i hope i win i would love to put my Move to some good use ;)

  • Awesome, looks promising!

  • awesome hope i win

  • I hope to get move soon, it would be nice to have a full game ready for me when i got home with the controller

  • YES! I was looking forward to using my new Move controlers on a golf type game. Still looking forward to a shooter patch. Any chance Uncharted 2 being patched to work with Move?? I know that might be a stupid question, being that it is trickier then golf…

  • Sweet maybe you guys can help out or takeover the hotshots series too. but the game looks great and looks to be awesome with online play.

  • PLANET MINI GOLF WINNER! lol sorry I don’t use Facebook ;)

  • The game is fantastic and great to play with others. We bought it a while ago. I was playing it with move yesterday and what a blast. I like the feel and how its pulled off. Dare I say for ME at least its a better experience. I want Stronghold Island as well, but I blew so much cash on Move and games, I am on restriction lol.

Any code contests for just Stronghold DLC?

  • Can you explain why you left Move support out of the demo?

  • Were the graphics improved in this patch? I freaking love Zen Pinball and have purchased all DLC for it, but I was really put off by the graphical quality of the Planet Minigolf demo. Low-quality textures, overuse of bloom lighting, tons of aliasing artifacts, etc.

Let me know when the graphical issues are fixed and I’ll try the demo again with Move support :)

  • I downloaded the demo all excited about trying it out with Move and it doesn’t exactly work. You can navigate the menus with the Move controller but once you try to start playing the demo course it says that you have to purchase the full game in order to play with Move.

    Sorta lame…

  • Around 34-35 seconds did someone take a Move to the Groin?

I have the game and find it much improved with the Move patch.

    Great Job guys.

  • they got a trend going on there facebook page Hopefully they give out some nice gifts for fellow gamers :)

    enjoy your day readers

  • My father’s looking for a good Move golf game. Get this functionality in the demo and you may well get (at least) one more sale. Sounds like several others here may be sold as well.

  • Nice, just posted it on the FB page. I have a question about the game’s music specifically who did it as it has a very 1995/1996 feel to it.

  • its pretty good to be a playstation 3 owner lately with all the activity going on from games like this to the netflix app.nice of you zsolt from doing this contest, its always a nice suprise to find devs like you to give the chance to fans and newcomers alike to get freebies and try the games with demos.thanks a bunch for that! :0)

  • @11 ouch yea he did get a hit in the nuts lol that’s why you need to stand clear

  • I guess it’s not a move trailer until somone gets hit in the nuts. Well done, dude deserved it with that haircut.

  • omg, im soo getting the moose head, not just because I cant wait for DR@ but because im canadian, Tee Hee!

  • I really hate these contests held through FB since not everyone uses/likes it. Nonetheless I’ve already bought Stronghold Island and it’s fun.

  • insanely fun game, especially with friends. thanks for the reasonably priced DLC. i’ve bought all your addons for pinball and will buy them all for this, keep up the good work.

  • Release a Move enabled demo!

  • @22
I just heard it’s enabled so you probably just have to update or re-download the demo.

  • I bought the game when it first came out. I have to say, the Move controls are definitely a huge improvement to an already awesome game.

  • You say the demo is Move enabled, but it tells you in the demo that you need to purchase to use Move functionality.

It has pictures and talks about Move, but I cant play with Move. The demo needs Move support or I won’t even consider a purchase.

  • Facebook :( I don’t use it.

Does this count as an entry? PMG WINNER :D

  • Is the Move-enabled swinging motion true 1:1?

Or is it all on rails? (ie: the animation is all pre-canned and basically you perform the exact same swing each time only with different power levels?)

Can you turn the club to hit the ball with different face-angles?

  • Throwing in my hat as well regarding
no Move functions in the demo.

I tried this game a few months back and couldn’t really get into it with DS3 controls so I deleted it. I decided to give it another chance when the demo showed up under, get this, “Move demos” on the PS Store.

To take the time to re-download it, for the sole purpose of trying out the Move controls, only to be greeted by a “must purchase” message was frustrating (not to mention misleading as I did not in fact get to demo it with Move).

Instead of clicking to buy it, I deleted it . . . again.

  • Woo hoo free codes I just finished playing the demo and it was a blast. Was sad I couldnt use my move in the demo though. I had put this on my buy list but it would be even cooler if i could get it for free.

  • was dissapointed i couldnt play the demo with the move

  • @ oycomics lol… I did the exact same thing

  • I love that so many games are receiving Move Compatibility updates! It really makes my Move controllers a worthwhile investment!

Keep up the great work Zen Studios!

  • I’ve been playing this since Saturday with the Move update. When it works it’s great. However, I’ve had a ton of trouble trying to get the move controls to work properly.

It’s like the game glitches and you cannot get it to put you in shoot mode. The only way to fix it is to exit the game and restart, but it’s done it at least half of the times that I’ve pulled up the game. Also, this happens on my PS3 and my uncles PS3 with two different move controllers so I know it’s not just me.

  • More DLC courses!!!! PMG is better than Tiger!!

  • @9, 11, 22, 23, 25, 28, I also ran into the “Please purchase…” message when trying to play the demo with Move.

At first I simply re-downloaded it from my Downloads list and it didn’t work so I downloaded it from the Move category on the first page of New Releases on the PSN Store.

Don’t know if it makes a difference or means anything but the demo sizes were the exact same so unless you were able to add Move support without increasing the file size something is missing there.

It seems like a really cool game and I’d like to get it but a playable Move demo would 100% sell me.

  • I’m throwing my voice into the screw you for promoting the demo as a Move game, then talking about how great the game is with the move, then letting me navigate with the Move, then telling me I can’t use the Move.

All this tells me is you’re not confident in your product so the interest I’ve had in it since it came out is gone.

  • boo for having code give away on facebook…STOP DOING CONTESTS ON FACEBOOK/TWITTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never get to have a chance at these anymore if they are always going to be on these sites now, please return contests and give aways to the PSBlog so EVERYONE can participate

  • I DL’d the game when it first game out and didnt like it at all, but with the MOVE support, it seems alot better. I just played every course in the game and enjoyed it. Hopefully you will keep new courses coming out in the future. Great job!

  • Proud winner of the last PMG contest. Thanks for the golf balls, towel and tees! PMG is a great game.

  • I might be going out on a limb here, but it sounds like people want to see the Move gameplay in the demo. We’ll see what we can do. I apologize if the labeling was confusing – we did not intend for it be categorized as a Move-enabled demo.

In the meantime, if you have the Move and the full version of Planet Minigolf, please feel free to share your impressions of the Move controls. We’ve very pleased with how well the Move controls ended up working, and we hope you agree.

We’d also love feedback on the new add-on course, if you’ve downloaded it. Based on your feedback, we lowered the difficulty in the earlier courses, with fewer holes that require power-ups and fewer holes where it’s easy to hit it out of bounds. And we’d also like to hear where you’d like the next course to be set.

Finally, I’d like to say thanks to all the Planet Minigolf and Zen Pinball owners. We appreciate it!

  • How can you say “The demo is also Move updated, so if you want to test it out before buying, download the demo and check that out.” and then act like there was a misunderstanding when we’re pissed that there’s no Move functionality in the demo? I’ve downloaded this thing 3 times now thinking there was a Move version, now I’m throwing in the towel.

  • “The demo is also Move updated, so if you want to test it out before buying, download the demo and check that out.”

That’s what the blog is saying. But everyone is saying this is wrong. Was there a newer demo put up? I’d love to try this out with Move, and would probably buy it if I could do so.

  • Cant wait to get Move so I can play that game I have already with move.
It kinda sucks with the controller so I hope when I get the move it is golden , im sure it will be

  • as i own planet mini golf and zen pinball plus all the dlc for zen pls make a deadspace table as that would be then the best table ever also good work on the street fighter table its one of the best if not The best.

and i like the golf but i dont play it because i find it frustrating that u cant retry the hole ur on because its unfair that one bad shot on the end hole of a course can put u out of 1st place when working so hard at getting there in the first place it makes me quit the game and not play it. keep up the good work guys

  • Please make a demo with the move controls.

At this point i will not buy it until i can try a demo and see if i like it. I did not like the original controls much so please update the demo with move support.

Also the demo as it stands now should be removed from the psmove section :)

  • Thanks for patching in 3-player support! It was annoying to play with 3 people and have one person go twice.

  • “I might be going out on a limb here, but it sounds like people want to see the Move gameplay in the demo. We’ll see what we can do. I apologize if the labeling was confusing – we did not intend for it be categorized as a Move-enabled demo.”

Dude, read your friggin post above…and fix it if it’s bogus.

No one’s going on a limb.

You misrepresented the demo…and Sony is misrepresenting the demo, as well, since you can only look at stupid menus using the Move controller.

    Jesus.

  • @ solo013

I’ve been having the same problem with getting the game into shot mode. The problem is that you are holding the controller pointing up or level. Point the controller down as if you are going to putt the ball to get into shot mode.

To Zen Studios: The Trigger is way to sensitive! If I even so much as touch the Trigger while I’m aiming I’ll hit the ball. If you can make adjustments to the Trigger I will be more than happy to buy more DLC for this game.

Other than that you guys made a very fun game. Keep up the good work!

  • I’m also adding to the – you’re misleading us to say it’s a Move demo – outcry !!!

I’ve just re-downloaded it from the Move Demos category, and it still does not truly support the Move – menu support only and no game play support. Which, of course, is completely useless as a demo of Move support.

  • I’m a very enthusiastic Move customer and dying for more Move games, but you need to make this a real Move enabled demo. I dropped almost $200 on Move launch day on controllers and games – and just jumped on as a Plus subscriber. Sony should be promoting the hell out of EVERY single Move game by posting demos of all of them on PSN – or at least under Plus for cryin’ out loud. Show me Plus is worth the price by posting Move demos. Including RE5, High Velocity Bowling, Toy Story 3, Brunswick Bowling, Lord of the Rings, along with every other Move enabled game.

Demos are especially essential for a brand spankin’ new control technology like Move. Move has tremendous potential, but it’s still unproven. So prove it to us. We need to see if the game developers have done a good job of designing Move support, before droppin’ bucks for what could be a badly designed game. Ahhh, IE: Kung Fu Rider & Racquet Sports – Over priced for the content in it and bad Move implementations.
