While I do feel a tinge of longing for the Dante of yester year, I do have to express gratitude that the team actually tried to reimagine Dante instead of just copy and pasting and changing his coat blue, swapping the arm, and giving him a new name. And while I love the old Dante, I have to admit that the new one does show promise. Sure he may look a little more punky than some find acceptable, but when a character makes a point of twisting his cigarette out on a demon's face before beating the crap out of it and its posse, you know the dude means business. To make a long story short, I thinks it's pretty clear that this point that this and old Dante are not the same character, so we shouldn't compare them as such, but evaluate them as separate entities. At this point the arguement is a matter of aesthetics, and we should reserve our judgement for when we actually have an entire game to be critical about.

my thoughts exactly, marohapoopsie! couldn't agree with you more. people nowadays have become so unoriginal and bland that they can no longer keep an open mind to brand new awesomeness. this modern take and the psychologically suffering prisoner is sure to bring about some wicked plot twists. at the very least it won't be a straight forward progression through the game fighting the same old, same old. I shall ALSO be watching this title closely and more than likely making it a day-one buy on PS3. and bayonetta was also quite spectacular. "do you want to touuuuuch?" I have high hopes Ninja Theory won't disappoint with this.. they've made some great titles in the past.

Everytime I read a board regarding this topic I get so aggravated! So many people are missing the point. This is NOT a sequel, or prequel to the original DMC series. This is a reimagining! Why are people so confused about this? It's clearly meant to be the same DMC story but in a different setting, a different time period, and with a different Dante. I personally thing the DMC series has gone stale and could do with a reboot. This new Dante is so badass! Butting out his cigarette into that creature's face? Is everyone blind? He's punk...and he doesn't need a shock of white hair to still be Dante. I think this will be a darker take on the series that, personally, has declined in quality and appeal since the first one. If you pay attention to the trailer, I don't think this is going to be just a straightforward game - I think it's got a twist that will steer it away from being just another cookie cutter DMC game (or Bayonetta). I don't care what the haters say, I'm looking out for this game. I like the look of it, I like the direction they're taking, and the music is kick ass. You should all try to have an open mind because this game could surprise you. I'm excited and can't wait till we get a release date!

OK, I'm going to give it a chance, but if it blows up in capcom's face im going to LAUGH! I've been a Capcom fan for a loooong time, but this, i think is gonna be a stupid move. I love this series, but Tameem Antoniades or w/e apparently wants to BE Dante...that angers me A LOT. if that is the only problem with it ok fine i can deal with that, but if he botches it up, i might not buy any future Capcom games if hes in the staff....Dante looked fine.

hey, you got to remember you guys, if this is related to the other Devil May Cry stories, then Dante's hair and looks will go back to normal, maybe this is just how he got all of his skills or something, but the Devil May Cry series will be alright

I've never played any of the Devil May Cry games, but I think people should chill out. When I finally got to jump into PS3 this year, I chose inFamous for my first game. I was blown away. Then shortly after I found out there was going to be a sequel and I was real excited. But sadly, a bunch of people were more pissed at Cole's new design than excited at their being another inFamous installment. Now Sucker Punch has changed him back and now it'll take even longer for the game to come out what with the changes in art and everything. If they were any real kinda inFamous fans they would've waited till the game *actually came out* and *actually played it*. I think it's the same with this game. Wait till it comes out instead of complaining about looks; it's superficial.

DMC isn't defined by its style, you know, and it's equally wrong-headed to place any great emphasis on its story. As most dedicated fans of the series can tell you, DMC's only essential feature is its fast, fluid (read: rock-solid 60fps), dynamic, complex gameplay. Ninja Theory makes middling to decent action-adventure titles with shallow combat, not precisely engineered stylish action games like DMC1, DMC3 and Bayonetta. Botch the combat system in this reboot and you can expect the death rattle of the DMC series to be accompanied by a roar of fan outrage so thunderous that the current backlash will be as a cricket fart in a hurricane.

Good luck.

The DMC series doesn't need a reboot. For one thing, it still has a lot of mindshare among gamers. A reboot should be reserved as the last-ditch attempt to revive a dying franchise. What's the point of attracting a new demographic if you lose a substantial portion of your existing customer base in the process? Second, DMC is remarkably profitable considering that its genre has never been mainstream. It is foolish and reckless to risk destroying a beloved series merely to chase after some far-fetched sales target.

I am sickened by the condescending tone Capcom and Ninja Theory are taking with longtime fans of the DMC series. First you alienate us with an appalling revamp of Dante that seems specifically designed to undermine the original version in every way.(Strong-looking? Nope. Witty? Nope. Cool? Nope. Amusing? Nope.) Then you grind salt into the wound by claiming the backlash was "expected" and that, essentially, we all ought to pipe down and wait for Ninja Theory to deliver a product that, on the evidence of their previous games and the wretched new "DmC" trailer, they are incapable of producing. Outrageous.
