I knew there was a reason I rolled out of bed: Marvel announced today that the X-Men arcade game will be coming to PSN this fall with full support for six players (local or online on the PS3). And that’s not all — Capcom and Marvel unveiled new characters for Marvel vs Capcom 3: Arthur from Ghosts ‘N Goblins and Spencer from Bionic Commando, Magneto and M.O.D.O.K.. Not bad for a Saturday morning!
Now that Jeff and Rey have returned from the community meetups in Toronto and New York City, much of next week will be spent with me distracting them as much as possible with work talk while secretly trying to suckle away as much of their sweet pilfered Canadian maple syrup as possible. Look for some cool game announcements, too.
Digital Comics Store Update — In Grace’s words, this is “one hell of an update.” Well okay then! Silent Hill: Sinner’s Reward, Iron Man (1968), Twistory debut and more.
REMINDER: The Lab – 3 vs 3 Plunder — All boosters are active, so I suggest at least one player in your party slot in Treasure Bearer instead of Deposit.
What I’m Playing: Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes Light (DS). Also played the Castlevania demo on Tuesday and thought it was neat. Can’t to play the Costume Quest demo on this Tuesday (though I wish I had the money for the whole game).
What I’m Watching: Watched the series the Defenders today on Demand. I plan to watch CSI, Law & Order: LA & Law & Order UK (first episode) tonight.
What I’m Reading: Nothing yet. Though I do plan to soon order The Somambulist by Jonathan Barnes from my local library’s library loan.
Anyway, this week, the Costume Quest blog was really good & so was the LittleBigPlanet blog. I’m excited about the LBP2 beta (doubt I’ll get in though). Still bummed about the game coming next year. Ya, I didn’t take that news as well as some people did. lol. But hopefully I’ll get to rent some of the other cool games this year, like Enslaved, Fallout: New Vegas, and Castlevania.
Also, as always, I’m hoping for some cool demos on Tuesday (well, I know there will be at least one cool demo, Costume Quest).
No Recap mention of David O. Russell back on to direct the Uncharted movie…?? well, let me be the first to say he’s a much better choice to write as the others that were initially mentioned…. and I will completely buy into this movie if Nathan Fillion is cast as Drake… certainly, he wouldnt be nearly as costly as some of these other actors being tossed about as potentials… Fillion is perfect for the role… he looks like Drake.. he sounds like Drake… he’s the rough every day Joe that Drake was described as with the first game.. and he’s certainly got the sense of humor down.. anyone who’s seen Firefly/Serenity knows he would fit this role to a T…
anyhow, other than that, i Want to mention, once again, we NEED a Destruction Derby sequel… or Test Drive:Eve of Destruction sequel… i am praying for that everyday… PLEASE!!!
Mmm… Gotta love that Prinny 2 announcement! The first game was hard, but it kept me coming back for more.
Anyway, here’s my list.
Playing: Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light (DS), Valkyria Chronicles II (PSP)
Watching: Iron Man 2, Community.
Reading: The Water Margin, Suikoden V: Dawn Castle, Suikoden III, Mega Man MEGAMIX Vol. 2
Hey Sid, do you know why when we get trophies for games some of them don’t show up on the official PlayStation trophy place here: http://us.playstation.com/mytrophies/
Sony hasn’t been adding any games to it and it messes up the trophy cards.
I have got Black Ops and LBP2 on pre order (both collectors edition) and i am pre ordering ac:b tomorrow. the other 2 games ar on the xbox (please dont troll)
I’m glad ALL Plus members get into the ACB Beta, but it came on the weekend I have to work a 48 hour shift, so I can’t try it yet.
I still haven’t even finished AC2 yet though.
Playing: Def Jam Rapstar, Castlevania, and Dead Rising 2 (Gonna buy Lara Croft game when I get home)
Watching: Modern Family, Iron Man 2 (again, just bought the Blu-Ray), Book of Eli (I know I’m late)
Reading: Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein: Lost Souls, and Your Heart Belongs To Me, also by Dean Koontz.
I have the LBP2 Collector’s Edition and GOW: GOS PSP bundle preordered. I’m still rocking the OG PSP Phat that I bought at launch, I was gonna get a Go, but there’s not enough support for it. If they had a GOW bundle for the Go though, I would get it.
I have the LBP2 collector’s edition and GOW: GOS PSP bundle preordered. I
Playing: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. I actually beat it last night… holy crap, I’ve never experienced a video game ending like this. The game, in my opinion, was severely underrated by certain review sites. Even as someone who’s been playing Castlevania games since the NES, this was mindblowingly good!
Watching: Blood+ anime series now that Canadians finally have access to Netflix and no disc at that! What an awesome little program and I’ll most likely be keeping my subscription going. Hopefully their library improves soon.
Reading: Nothing right now but I should finish the last two books of Scott Pilgrim.
I’m so happy that Dead Nation is receiving online play! Day one for sure. And finally, an update on the LBP2 beta. Looking forward to next week :)
Good to hear on Lords of Shadow — that one is on my radar big-time. Maybe once I finish Enslaved! The Dead Nation co-op news is also welcome. I hugely appreciate Super Stardust HD (the Endless mode in the Solo pack is key) and what I’ve played of Dead Nation suggests a similar devotion to ultra-tight gameplay and dazzling visuals. Online co-op is totally the icing on the cake!
i’m playing Alien Breed: Impact (very very nice top view shooter game)
playin world at war zombie nazi map pack 3 everdays whit my friends XD
I love to play Space invader infinity gene when i have some free time.
played red faction battleground beta enough.
@Sid Shuman. I haven’t read The Somambulist yet. I’m going to order it at my library on Monday. I’ll let you know. I agree with you that the premise is intriguing. The preview I read was good. I’m hoping the rest of the book is even better. We’ll see.
@sid any news to report on a classic sony mascot Jak and Daxter any collection and new game i’d be satisfied with either both i’d declare it a national holiday and cry please any news let me know
@sid the ACB beta is awesome, I actually wasn’t that interested in the game but the multiplayer is really unique in that you have to be sneaky and deceptive but at the same time very aware that you’re also being hunted.
Glad to here monday is bringing some news on Tron :) thanks.
Out of curiosity; have you heard when Pac Man CE or Pac Man DX will be released for the PSP/PS3? Patience is running out since Pac Man CE was announced at the launch of the minis, i.e., in 2009 :)
Thanks for getting our hopes up about an “exclusive PS3 game” announcement from Marvel and then magically Saturday comes and there is no announcement. What a crock of bull.
Someone must’ve slipped up on the Dead Rising 2 DLC- I downloaded it all for free like a week ago. Don’t have the game, but the content is there when I do finally pick it up (used and dirt-cheap so that none of my money goes to supporting outsourced games from one of the best in-house game developers of all time).
@ SILVERX200 (#27)
The Marvel reveal was the old-school Konami X-Men Arcade Game re-releasing on PSN & XBFL. Not a PS3 exclusive, but I hadn’t read anything about exclusivity, just the fact that it was going to be an unannounced title… which it kind of was.
The DLC for Dead Rising 2 that was released a day ago isn’t the real DLC. It was a kind of compatibility pack so you could play with the people that had pre-order DLC from Best Buy, Gamestop, etc. The actual DLC costumes packs don’t come out until Tuesday.
GT5… GT5… How come I didn’t mind waiting all these years, but the last few weeks have been really tough?
GT5… GT5… Must be patient
Off topic: PS Blog Share :)
Hey Sid… Blog Share is a really great idea, and I understand that it’s hard for Sony to review such a large amount of ideas, and that many ideas are either not workable, or will take a lot of programming and whatnot to implement, but…
“PS Button – Auto Read Message Upon Notification” is the 4th most popular idea on there, and probably the easiest to implement. A little change in code, and you’ve satisfied 20,000 voters.
We all know that you’re the real boss at SCEA Sid :) Can you please order some of your subordinates to make this happen, as it would change a lot of people’s opinions of Blog Share, as I know some people have this crazy idea that it’s just a message board to stop us from filling up the Sony email inbox with useless ideas :P
Hey, i’m not sure if this is the best place to post this but the official playstation forums don’t work on the PS3 internet browser, you cant read any post. Also, you can’t even login to PS Blog, PS Share, or the official site from the PS3 browser. I personally use the PS3 browser daily and was wondering if this would be resolved
Been playing Lords of Shadow, just got it for my birthday a couple days ago and almost done chapter 2. An amazing game so far, have no idea why gamespot gave it a 7.5…
And very excited about the X-Men arcade game coming to PSN, getting geared up for Force Unleashed 2 as well. Good year for video games
I get that the browser won’t be compatible with every site, but PlayStation sites should really work flawlessly on it. Having a site that doesn’t work on a company’s own browser is the height on lack of coordination.
@Sony If you can’t modify your browser to properly use Sony sites, why not modify the sites so that they properly run on the browser
Can you give us some news on Tron: Evolution? I’m really interested in hearing more about the Move support.
Stay tuned for Monday :-)
