Hey guys. The reverted dinky looking netflix menu is a test. They are sending out a number of beta versions to see how each one does and counting on the customers to call them back so they can find out what they like and dont like. So feel free to call them. I know i didnt like it. I liked the original. Much better. Well anyways. Just thought i would let you guys know.

My experiences:

Netflix video streaming works fine. Very nice picture – I run mine through my Yamaha RX-A2000, set to bitstream for Audio. 2 Channel is matrixed into 5.1.

Old PS3 “Fatboy”

Menu’s are fine on Netflix – - do not see what the hullabaloo is about. Maybe it’s because I did not have the disc version of the product.

5.1 audio spotty – - freezes on larger movies, won’t download. Able to view television series (episodes – not as long as the movies) in 5.1. Fast DSL connection, but wireless to PS3. 8 to 12 meg speed on router (2wire)

I suspect, due to all the postings, that they are still working the bugs out of the recent release.

NOTE for Netflix/PS3. If you really want to corner the market, make new titles available the same day they are released and eventually have Dolby TrueHD & full DTS support, including 7.1. When that happens – game, set, match. I will have no need to go to any video store or mess with disks again.

I’m able to get both versions of the interface with two accounts. When I use the account I used when I had the disc (this logged me in automatically with the new app), the interface in the video appears. Then when I switch accounts by logging in with my other account, (no device activation code required I guess) I get the one everyone, myself included, is complaining about.

For those coming from the disc – Login using your netflix account info by pressing (at the home screen in the app) up up down down left right left right up up up up (seriously) to deactivate the current login. Login with your nexflix account info and see what happens. Might see this ‘beta’ interface. Do the same to deactivate again and your disc based criteria should be restored.

You may need to delete the nexflix data from BD Data utility on the XMB to get this to work. There is also a file in game data utility.

Those of you who never used the disc – which interface do you get?

I have a major problem, I had a game freeze up and was able to get the disc out and now my playstation won’t read any disc. Game or movie.
Any ideas on what to do????

I just found out something cool by accident.

My VAIO TV controller can navigate and control the PS3 Netflix App.

I am once again IMPRESSED, Sony. Well done.

Got my netflix discless working. One suggestion I have for netflix is to include an exit button on the interface. I actually navigate a lot of my PS3 with the TV remote, which is connected via HDMI and can perform lots of the non PS3 specific keys. So now I cannot exit the app with this remote, I have to get a PS3 control to exit app.

Yeah my Netflix app does not look like the one in the video this is crap. I don’t understand how it can be different so dumb Stupid Sony and Netflix.

I wasnt aware about anything with the ps3 and netflixs. I just my internet back after not having for a few months. I saw the download for it when I was installing my updates and I wasn’t able to get a connection once it was installed. It stays on the same screening forever and finally after a few min it says unable to connect. I have a friend thats been using netflix for sometime now and they told me I needed a disk. So I come on here and find out that this app I just downloaded came out on the 18th! So is that why I can’t use it?? Is anyone else getting this problem how the hell do I fix it?

My UI doesn’t look like the one in the video. It *did* first thing on that Monday morning, then netflix switched it out from under me and gave me a crappy/clunky interface that they’re apparently still beta testing.

How do I get the interface from the video back? Is this ever going to be an option or am I stuck with a crappier version because Netflix didn’t spend enough on their testing cycles?

Seriously Sony, get Netflix in line!
