Bluetooth Headset

Hi Everyone! Back in 2008, we unveiled the official Bluetooth Headset for the PlayStation 3. Since then, many of you added it to your arsenal of PS3 must-haves. Today we’re excited to announce a new version of the official Bluetooth Headset for the PS3 system. It will be available at retailers near you this month at the same price ($49.99 MSRP) as the earlier version of this headset.

Bluetooth Headset

The new Bluetooth Headset for the PS3 offers the same unparalleled gaming experience as the previous model, making it a must have for intense online multiplayer games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, MAG or the highly anticipated sci-fi shooter, Killzone 3. It offers a dual-microphone design, automatic pairing via USB cable with the PS3**, in-game headset status indicator**, an easily accessible microphone mute button, and a charging cradle which also functions as a desktop microphone**. On top of all of that, it’s the only device to offer High-Quality (HQ) mode** which delivers crystal clear voice chat while gaming on the PS3.

So what’s different, you ask? New features include a redesign, making it sleeker, high-gloss and more compact – 30% smaller than the original model. In addition, the Bluetooth Headset now has built-in noise cancellation for filtering out ambient noise when used with the PS3 system as well as your mobile phone. Gadget fiends take note – the new Bluetooth Headset isn’t just for gaming. The improved mobile phone feature support allows you to use features such as three-way calling and call waiting. And with nearly six hours of talk time, you can easily take the Bluetooth Headset with you straight from the living room to the streets.

The new Bluetooth Headset is compatible with devices with Bluetooth 1.1 or higher, and is ideal for gamers, technophiles and anyone in the market for multi-use Bluetooth Headset. Enjoy!

** This feature requires a PS3 system and PS3 system software version 3.50 or later.

I don’t know why people are saying there was nothing wrong with the old one. There was tons of stuff wrong with the old one.First, the ear piece was hard flat and big and not curvey in your ear,so it hurt. Also, the part that wrapped around the ear was hard stif blocky and didnt form to your ear comfortably. This new modle fixes all of that and it has better noise cancelation and is more compatible with phones,…WHICH IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

Whoa, this is tight. When I went to go pre-order GoW PSP 2 my mother felt the headset they had was too expensive. I lucked out! :D

And seriously, why do people complain that they “got the shaft?” If you bought a product early and something comes out better it’s your own fault. When I got a DS I didn’t know there would be one in a better color eventually, but that was all on me and not Nintendo. This is the same thing. Buy what you want and if something better comes out be happy with what you got or shell out for the upgrade.

Anand, any idea as to when this will be released in stores? I don’t want to order it through Amazon because I’ve got a $20 gift card from when I got Black Ops at Toys R Us, so I’d like to get it there, and I really need a new Bluetooth!

So, when does this release in retail stores, because seems to be the only place it’s available?

How soon should we see it at retailers? And is this the U.S only? (No retailer here in Australia has it listed yet)

When will this headset be released in Australia? Will it also be released by the end of the month?

How can I contact Eric Lempel or one of you guys regarding a question about music playback in the background? He hasn’t posted since September and I would like to ask what the reason was for this feature being disabled.
Thank you.

Will this be able to connect to multiple devices at the same time? For example, it’s connected to the PS3 and my phone.

I was thinking of buying the original one really soon.

Well seeing that a new one will be released pretty soon, wait a little longer would be for the best and it is for the same price.

Getting it for sure :)
