This Thursday, November 11th, PlayStation Home will update to client 1.4. In addition to the features we announced last Friday – wardrobe management, grouping, and voice chat – there are several other noteworthy additions, such as the new “Character Status” settings, improvements to the Menu Pad and Navigator, and cross-game invite support (finally, you can invite your friends to join you in PlayStation Home no matter what they are playing or watching on their PS3s). The new 1.4 client also brings numerous bug fixes and performance improvements. Full Patch Notes can be found HERE.

Important notice: When you start PlayStation Home to apply the 1.4 patch, please wait for the orange light to stop flashing on your PS3 before commencing the patching process. Otherwise your PS3 will reboot and you will have to start over.

LittleBigPlanet fans rejoice! This week the mega-popular LittleBigPlanet space receives a massive update with the brand new LittleBigDerby game. This super-addictive multiplayer game puts you and up to 7 of your friends in a paintball challenge where you must shoot targets to earn points and progress your racer towards the finish line. Pro tip: Hit targets with the right color paintballs to rack up bonus points.

The PlayStation Home Mall receives a huge update this week with brand new items in the Exclusives store (such as the new Platinum suit and Onyx gown – pictured below), new accessories for the ladies in the Sodium store (also pictured below), Irem swimwear, and Konami’s new line of soccer items (their initial offering includes the Australia and New Zealand kits – check back often for more countries’ kits in the PlayStation Home Mall).

Finally, the PlayStation Home Community Theater will air the first episode from our newest partner – the one and only Hip-Hop Gamer. In episode 1, HHG takes a look at the PlayStation Move and discusses how it may affect the gaming industry as we know it. Check out the world premier this Thursday!

When was the last time you were in? There’s tons of stuff going on. Look at this client update, for example.

By the way the full patch notes link, redirects us to the main forum page and not the post itself. Please update the link to redirect us to the patch notes post.

My issue with Home is that it has little to no synergy with the XMB and the rest of the Playstation 3. They are doing better but at the rate I see them going it will take several years for them to get it to the point where many gamers want to invest into it.

Hip Hop Gamer? Wow, you guys must have really been desperate. That dude’s journalistic integrity is about as good as his grammar… Apparently you guys really are trying to change the direction that Home goes it. It seems to have gone from a slick and sophisticated place for gamers to convene and communicate, to a place for morons and folks who actually listen to this tool. >.<

Overall speed and performance has been optimized with every client release – most notably with 1.35, where download times were reduced to a fraction of what they previously were. With 1.4, things are only getting faster/smoother. You should come in and check it out when you have a moment ;)

Thanks! But I can’t take all the credit on this one. There are a lot of people behind the scenes working around the clock to make this kind of stuff happen.

To your question: The maintenance period should be around the same length as it is every week.

Eubonics comes to Home in the Community Theater. I have seen some of his podcasts and he could use some work then, let’s hope he has gotten better! But I have been having freezing issues with the theater so I hope that it works better with this premiere.

@NJShadow maybe you can get bunch of your peeps together and do a podcast similar and get into the theater as well…

I have not been on home in sometime i use to sign on to just download the areas. visit for a few seconds then disappear. Two small suggestions
1: Autodownloader for all new areas for Home
2: More developer speakers since voice chat is available (get squaresoft err squareenix people to talk about ffIVX or versus/ capcom to show live video in threater of MVC3) there are too many features that should be useful in home that are not

Can’t wait to update my HOME to v1.4 especially where we can send invites to our friends sitting on the XMB doing nothing and being bored is never fun now my friends can be invited to HOME and join me up in a Group Chat and can invite each other in our Private Spaces and keep our Chat going all with out being in the same space at the same time.

NEXT we need is

Cross Game Voice Chat on our XMB and can chat with friends in HOME even when we are kicking butt in a game and never miss out on anything.

If we could integrate the new HOME Group Chat to the XMB Menu the PS3 would be the best thing ever since slice bread.

Who’s with me??

Hey Locust, seen the new Playstation lounge that just opened in Manhattan? Thats exactly what I’ve been saying the gamers lounge should look like for over a year, only with game from the entire history if Playstation. The gamers lounge as it is, is a waste of space. Suggested it here and on the forums. But then again, I dont remember the last time I was in Home anyway.

So Number 37′s “Juben” suggestions answered my question. After all this time and updates YOU STILL HAVE TO RE-DOWNLOAD everything everytime Home updates!!!! And there’s no auto-download for this in or out of Home! Well, I gues I won’t be bothered by Home anytime soon, if ever! Geeez, Home is a home of slacker developers.

Why can’t you fix this? You obviously have the time if you’re updating Home with games and clothes nobody needs.

Make a patch, disable Blu-Ray 3D support, do whatever you have to do, but for god sake, do *something* about this issue.

Another nice update. Home has come a long way since i got on almost 2 yrs ago. We may not have all the bells & whistles of other platforms but we do have a unique way of meeting, socializing, organizing, & playing games with other users. You give us something every week to look forward to and I really like the Plaza events (Halloween was great). I’m looking forward to seeing how Home evolves in the future…
