This Thursday, November 11th, PlayStation Home will update to client 1.4. In addition to the features we announced last Friday – wardrobe management, grouping, and voice chat – there are several other noteworthy additions, such as the new “Character Status” settings, improvements to the Menu Pad and Navigator, and cross-game invite support (finally, you can invite your friends to join you in PlayStation Home no matter what they are playing or watching on their PS3s). The new 1.4 client also brings numerous bug fixes and performance improvements. Full Patch Notes can be found HERE.
LittleBigPlanet fans rejoice! This week the mega-popular LittleBigPlanet space receives a massive update with the brand new LittleBigDerby game. This super-addictive multiplayer game puts you and up to 7 of your friends in a paintball challenge where you must shoot targets to earn points and progress your racer towards the finish line. Pro tip: Hit targets with the right color paintballs to rack up bonus points.
The PlayStation Home Mall receives a huge update this week with brand new items in the Exclusives store (such as the new Platinum suit and Onyx gown – pictured below), new accessories for the ladies in the Sodium store (also pictured below), Irem swimwear, and Konami’s new line of soccer items (their initial offering includes the Australia and New Zealand kits – check back often for more countries’ kits in the PlayStation Home Mall).
Finally, the PlayStation Home Community Theater will air the first episode from our newest partner – the one and only Hip-Hop Gamer. In episode 1, HHG takes a look at the PlayStation Move and discusses how it may affect the gaming industry as we know it. Check out the world premier this Thursday!

also, with the amount of new features and changes to home (meaning its core interface) and with a routine content update to its servers coming in at the same time I think some functions have been thrown off balance… minor things… like for example a routine weekly content updates shuts down the home servers with the message explaining “Maintenance” as it is regularly supposed to… and now it seems there is another update that is irregular to the normal content update, aka Version 1.4…
… and so I have made the assumption that the messed up messed up screen message at the home menu when users log on to home is the message that usually informs us of maintenance… and the reason the message is not working properly is because the two updates are going at the same time and each update are working to update the opposite things and as such it certain functions are affected in the process and the maintenance message for the routine update is conflicting with the version update and that is why it isn’t displayed correctly…
also this is all out of mind I can’t really prove any of this but this just my take of the situation at hand

Wonder how many people will get turned off PS3 by the ‘failure to communicate’ demonstrated by Sony and the PS3 software designers etc?
I am happy to wait to see the end result, but I messed around this morning with re-jigging various bits and pieces in a vain attempt to get the system up. If someone had told me the update would entail the ‘service message’ notice, and last ‘approximately’ between four hours and (say) one day, then at least I’d have not been so concerned. Thanks solely to my compradres on this thread I am far happier than I was! Thanks guys.

Hello. Having trouble updating :( My ps3 does this beep and shuts off right after hitting ok to start the update :S
when going to the theater the first and second row are the only areas that can zoom into the screen the third row can’t
The update was a real trend setter. The best feature I would like to see is “region hopping” in Home. Instead of users having to create separate accounts for UK or Hong Kong. The UK had an Ironman event in their Audi space and I’ve seen the Ironman outfits they get. Getting back to the subject, anything I buy or earn should get added to my current inventory and have a currency converter for when you change regions. (Dollars to yen or pounds) There should be a 3D globe, just like the one you see in the Folding@Home app, highlighting each of the Home regions. This would make Home a TRUE “universal” platform. (WAY BETTER than Mii Plaza)LOL!

Day 2 of the so called AWESOME UPDATE and it is working horrible, i keep getting CONNECTION TO THE SERVER WAS LOST , the Emotes are a joke, for what i thought our AVATARS would be able to do more GESTURES and be more ANIMATED but instead we get an absurd pop up mood of HAPPY,SAD,ANGRY,i mean come on, are we 3rd graders ? This is Ridiculous, the group chat is annoying for i get chat invitations from people i do not care to know and last but not least, THE CHAT LOG COLOR is a disgrace, being the same color WHITE/GRAY i have to really look into it to know what my friend said, it is very confusing when there is a bunch of people chatting and the CHAT LOG LINES ARE ALL THE SAME COLOR, FIX THIS
I tried logging in last night & I was able to, But I found out that I can’t go to my Summer House, nor my Neptune personal space(s);(Those are the only 2 so far). Both Freeze & Lock up, then I have to shut down the PS 3 & re-boot.
Nice update. The new inventory structure is a huge improvement. Thanks. As to those complaining about streaming your music/videos from your HDD… If Sony could do it you would have it by now. It’s a copyright issue. Plus there would be porn streaming in half the private spaces along with other pirated media. Now that Netflix is a ps3 application there is hope for full length movie streaming in home. The new Hollywood hills apt has a media center that streams short clips. Full length movies from crackle.com on the media center in the future maybe? :)
I checked out Home today and love the updates. However I am missing some stuff. Like a few free items I got and a couple furniture items I have purchased. Checked everywhere and cant find them. Where have they gone and how can I get them back??

I like the new version, got scared at first cos I thought all my saved avatars were gone. When I went to load another, all the spaces were blank. I clicked them anyway and my avatars were still there, so that`s a relief. I loaded them all and resaved them in their spots.
Love that I can shop through the Navi, but it makes the Mall space pointless now. COULD YOU TURN THE MALL INTO AN INTERNATIONAL ONE, where everyone can buy things from the other Home servers? You guys could MAKE LOADS OF MONEY! Plus we`d finally have another international space where we could meet up with friends from the other servers.

i must agreee with everyone here when i say the chay colors are a total fail. you NEED to give us some way to distinguish who says what, cuz 1 color simply doesn’t work.
To 169, Press L2 & then R2, to see everything from Purchased, rewards & Newest to Oldest & double check your “Storage”, the item(s) should be in there, most everything that I have has been divided up nearly equally, you just have to go from one category to the other, until you get everything balanced.
Solved my “buggy issue” with a couple of spaces, deleted the saves off my HD, then re-downloaded & I’m re-furnishing the space(s).Had a friend on FL give me the much needed advice, seens that it’s a furniture issue of some sort & thats why the spaces were locking up, overall, IMO 1.4 is a 9/10, if they change the color of the Text log, it’ll be great.
Hello i am a frequent Home user have been since December of 2008. With the recent update being added to Home, it has its pros and cons.For example,I love the new wardrobe feature however whenever i move items to storage and exit out of wardrobe and go back in, the items i selected for storage are back in main wardrobe. Also do you remember E3 items? They come up as new items in my wardrobe… Anyway, i finally pushed myself to buy the 5 dollar cannon, to do some noob blastin. Went to go use it and it doesn’t even work, it says Game Is Occupied. Ive deleted Home numerous times to try to fix lag and spaces not downloading right. But in the end I’m disappointed. Also whenever i first go into Home it says i have received a new item but its the same t shirt from sodium. Not sure whats going on but I’m not happy with Sony’s “mess ups”. Hopefully Sony can get this cleaned up, I was way happier with Home before the wrath of 1.4. When’s Sony gonna hire some better developers instead of letting chimps run it….
Furthermore,I will no longer support Sony nor buy anything from them until these problems are resolved. Oh btw i dont care for the white text log or the new chat feature either. Needs color and i want my black pop up color back. Looks like ill be playing my Wii from now on.
Ive been a playstation network member for just over three years. However im just now starting to get into PS Home. Is it cool ? Can you play free games ? Whats this update everyone is talking about and what cool stuff does it include ? I would really appreciate one of my fellow network members to fill me in on this.
@Q-TIPZ, there is a lot to do in Playstation, especially if you’re new to it. Tons of free games, features, spaces, and always packed with other PSN users. It is a social gaming platform. Meet friends and launch into PS3 games with them. Download it and see for yourself. :)
Thanks alot buddy, im in there as we speak, in the salt room trying to download the Salt Shooter Game but it seems to be clogged or slow or something because 12.7 MB has taken over 30 minutes on a ultra high speed connection !! I downloaded Castle Crasher from the ps store and it was roughly 120 MB in 20-25 minutes !!

Anyways in case someone does read this i would like to express my stance on this and PSN overall. I would like to see Sony FINALLY catch up to XBL and offer better, easier to use, faster network service. I would pay for copy of XBL on PSN. PSN+ is joke in my opinion and waste of resources. Same goes for HOME. I can only imagine how much money was wasted on it. I am core gamer, i turn my PS3 to play amazing games, not to waste my time in virtual world. I am HUGE HUGE Playstation fan. Been since PS1 day, then PS2, also have PSP and of course PS3 and only PS3 of current gen consoles. I really hope you guys improve PSN and make it on par OR better then xbl, like i said i would pay for it otherwise i don’t know where ill game next gen. Constantly getting worse online experience like in black ops case is at this point annoying as ….
I think it is easy to say that Playstation has lost 10s of millions of former supporters because they migrated to 360 because of better online experience and that is just sad since PS3 destroys 360 in therms of exclusives, now imagine it had network service on par with xbl from day 1?
LS – for as long as Home lacks the fundamental ability to allow players to create their own world, it will forever struggle to get PSN users to embrace it. I’m happy downloading second life and buying things with Linden dollars, and working in-game without being constantly extorted and pressured to buy things with real money by the developers.
Home needs a healthier balance of player development and Sony development. Steps should be taken to allow users to buy commercial land and own their very own Home “businesses” so that they too may sell items which they can model and create through their PS Home client or external development tools.
Sony needs a healthier balance between virtual money and real money; and prioritize where profits should be achieved. In the long run such a virtual economic system could prove to be a more profitable and sustainable growth model for Home. If real money is the only option for avatars to progress in the game, be it “materially” or otherwise, Home will only drive users away. Avatars cannot all be expected to constantly buy things with real money in Home. It is far too limiting.
Otherwise Home has huge potential for advertisement revenues in the future. And only through a healthy balance of Sony development and Player creation can this demand be created.

Oh and in the case of your PS3 fans migrating to the Xbox 360; it’s actually the other way around bcos the PS3 has FREE ONLINE PLAY. Wanna be better in BlazBlue? Fight the Japanese bcos the support PS3 more than the Xbox 360!!!!
The update isn’t too bad, I especially like the smoother look for the avatars and the Group Chat feature. Some other things I would like to see are: Wardrobe access at other people’s personal spaces, stream music/video from our XMB, weild the weapons while wearing gloves (seperate tab), and of course more Tekken and/or Soul Calibur costumes (if possible).
Now for some reason though, I can’t seem to be able to find the Uncharted 2: Nepalese Village space in my Navigator menu. I don’t know if it is just me or is the space actually gone for some reason? In either case I would like to know, and if I’m just not seeing it, then just point me in the right direction.

ok, this stupid UPDATE make my ps3 slim frozen everywhere very 10, 5, 1 minutes. i’m using home for a time till they fix that crap. also server always log me off. I don’t want to risk my ps3. i was fine before that update.
I don’t know if its just that it’s an older model ps3 system, but i need help on updating playstation home, because every time i try to update it signs me out of playstation network, and it has trouble establishing the connection again.
Need more new costumes….
