Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves, LittleBigPlanet 2 Demo, Beta Expansion All Coming in December

90 3

One of the promises we made after moving the LittleBigPlanet 2 release date was that we’d find a way to give you all additional LittleBigPlanet goodness ahead of the new game’s January 18 release date. Well, now I’m pleased to share the good news with you. Here’s what we have in store…

Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves

Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves

This is a brand new spin-off PSN title that showcases all of the fun that can be had when Sackboy gets his hands on the PlayStation Move motion controller. Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves contains a brand new 10 level theme dominated by dinosaurs, where the Evil Big Rex is king. Throughout your mission you must take on challenges engineered by Terrance Dactyl – and you’re going to some need help, so put on your bear skins and grab up to four friends to navigate the tough terrain of the tropical jungle dodging erupting volcanoes and other environmental hazards standing in your way.

The player with the PlayStation Move controller leads the charge, flicking switches and triggering platforms to help the other players, using DualShock Controllers, through each level. Leap between Dino heads, use the Move controller to blast aside crates of bubbles, ride dinosaurs through prehistoric cities, and take to the heights of tree canopies—then team up to defeat Big Rex, all while collecting Trophies along the way.

Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves

Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves is completely standalone – it doesn’t require the original LittleBigPlanet game or LittleBigPlanet 2 to run. What you will need is one PlayStation Move controller (and the PlayStation Eye camera, of course) and at least one friend with a DualShock Controller – since it is a Move-required and multiplayer-only co-op experience. The game will also be included on the LittleBigPlanet 2 disc when it is released on January 18.

But, for everyone who’s desperate to have some motion-controlled fun with Sackboy before then, and for the new PS3 and Move owners who haven’t yet gotten acquainted with our stitched-together friend, Sackboy – Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves will be available on the PlayStation Store on December 14 for $5.99.

That’s not all though! A week earlier, on December 7, all PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves for free! And, as an extra “thank you,” thousands of LittleBigPlanet supporters will receive Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves for free; stay tuned for more details as we get closer to December 7.

For all you Move fans, Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves is a lot of fun, but it only scratches the surface of what’s possible when PlayStation Move and LittleBigPlanet team up, so keep an eye out for more updates after the release of LittleBigPlanet 2.

LittleBigPlanet 2 Story Mode Demo

Now for some more great news…there will be a LittleBigPlanet 2 PSN demo coming your way on December 21! This demo will give everyone a taste of the new Story Mode in LittleBigPlanet 2, along with our new gameplay mechanics – including CREATE! Swing from different objects with the Grapple
Hook
, rescue helpless Sackbots, and experience the chaotic multiplayer fun that blows up when the competitive scoring mode is coupled with Sacboys and Sackgirls armed with the new Creatinator! The LittleBigPlanet 2 Story Mode demo will be available on the PlayStation Store on December 21, so keep an eye on the calendar.

LittleBigPlanet 2 Beta Trial

Over the past few weeks, it’s truly been astonishing to see the creations that have come out of the LittleBigPlanet 2 beta trial. In fact, we’ve been so impressed, we’re going to expand the beta trial a bit further, so in early December, a new batch of invitations will go out, including PlayStation Plus subscribers, more community contributors, and even some giveaways. Stay tuned early next month for more info!

So, to summarize all of the above…

  • I love you…..do you want a hug?

  • Awesome stuff. Makes me sad that you NEED the move to play this though :/

Can we do online co-op with this and play with someone online who has the move?

Also, awesome that it’s free for PS+ members :)

  • NICE. I planned on getting the Move soon to make sure I can 100% the Sly Collection, this is perfect timing. I <3 LBP so this is an instant buy unless I happen to get it for free wen they give some out *fingers crossed*

  • Can’t wait! Will move be available in the demo?

  • Awesome.

  • Happy LittleBig Christmas!!

  • Sweet a demo! Looking forward to that.

  • basicly it a 5$ demo?
    am i right?

  • So do I HAVE to get a PS+ in order to be considered or is there another way to gain access to the party pool that is the LBP2 Beta?

  • This is awesome! I love that it uses PS Move, is free to PS+ subscribers and is coming in December. Will there be additional PS Move functionality in LBP2 or will this be the extent of it?

    • This will be the extent on launch day, Jan 18, but this only scratches the surface of what LBP and Move can do together, so we hope to have more updates post launch.

  • The PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance today from 8:05am to 5:00pm PST: http://bit.ly/diGD5F

    LMAO.

  • Very…very cool.

ready to try it out on the 7th

  • wow…. I don’t think any plus subscribers will be complaining any time soon. I have Plus and have been at awe at the value I have gotten for my one year subscription… Three free extra months 5 beta invitations over 20 games and countless discounts and free avatars and themes. I never understood the haters. The first thing I will do when I get little Big Planet 2 and beat the story mode is make a version of Starcraft 2 with move support!

  • This is great!

  • I’m in! (Especially since you’re going to give it to me.)

Is this made using the LBP1 or LBP2 engine?

  • This all sounds great! I may consider getting PS+, but not ready to jump off the fence just yet.

  • Yes! Another game for my Move! Thanks MM!!

  • This is amazing. Best news of the day. Though this does raise a few questions of mine.

A while back you said that a few stage demo of the Move levels will be available in LBP2. This makes it sound like it’s the full game that’s included. So is the full Move spin-off included in LBP2?

I should assume, but I’ll ask: Will the story mode demo allow players to play levels from the community?

If there’s any sort of collectibles in Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves, will they be exportable or compatible with LBP1/LBP2?

Last question. You’ve mentioned making Move supported content and would later release tools to create Move levels/games. How’s that coming along?

  • Fantastic! I’m a Plus member (and I pre-ordered), so a big THANK YOU!… if only I could make the font bigger.

  • Does the PSN game have its own set of trophies?

  • Aaaawesome.

  • Well, now i have a reason to get move :D

  • Damn. Been holding off buying Move and PS+ because of already spending so much on GT5,Ghost of Sparta, Sly Collection, and PSN games…

But this is just too tempting.

    LBP FTW

  • Yes I get it for free! Too bad I don’t have a Move Controller. :(

  • WOW!! Media Molecule needs to be acknowledged for their awesome community support and fan service. The only other studio that is even close to you guys are Valve. The amount of dedication you show to the LBP community is commendable, hopefully the fans show their support back by buying this awesome game!

Thanks again MEDIA MOLECULE…hopefully I can get into that BETA being I’m a PS+ member!

  • i’m eager to learn more and i expect to get my move starter bundle today

  • I’m crying sack tears. This and the Kevin Butler Gran Turismo 5 ad is just too awesome!

  • Will the Beta be open to Canada ?

  • I own one, but making this game Move-only it’s only making up for the delay to people who own Move. Kind of lame for those who don’t own one.

  • I’m a Plus member. Please pick me. I was so disappointed when I didn’t get picked for the LBP2 Beta. I’m on vacation in December too. So I’ll be able to play the LBP2 15hrs a day.

  • Good news.. a pack of ’em :D
But is this all going to be available for Eu people? (Eu + subscribers and Eu store in general)..?

  • @28, the BETA has been in Canada since they started sending out North American invites.

Thanks to Mm for giving PS+ users a free move title! Very nice of you.

  • This All sounds Very Good, I am Currently in The LBP2 Beta and it’s Incredible, But I wonder If the Story Levels in the Demo will Be the same set as those in the Beta? Prehistoric Moves Looks Great Unfortunately I don’t have PS Move yet as there There was no selling point for me, But With LBP 2 It looks Like I May have to get My hands on one.@keniken Yes the Beta will be available to Canada as I am in the Beta now and From Canada. It wouldn’t make sense for them to exclude Canada from the Beta Extension.

  • Very cool perk for PS+. Can’t wait to try it out. Would love to be part of the beta to see what kind of music/sound creation you can do. This has me very interested in LBP2. I’m still not clear if the music you can make in it is based on virtual instruments within the program and/or the importation of sound files.

  • This game just can’t have enough content. Is there any truth to the rumor that the collectors edition is delayed in the US? It wouldnt make any sense if true.

  • PLUS is showing its true colors. I waited patiently and now the rewards are on there way. It had paid for itself long ago but this is icing on the cake.

  • Excellent!

I have been itching for a new Move title, am already a PS+ subscriber and I LOVE Little Big Planet!

  • yay, thank god i’m a psn+ and i have the move, cant wait to get it for free, and i cant wait for my lbp2 from subway frenzy

  • Early December—beta trial invites will be sent out to PlayStation Plus members and more!

PlayStation Plus subscribers and a big bunch of LBP supporters will get Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves for free!

December 21—LittleBigPlanet 2 demo will be available to everyone!

    Beta,free game and demo

I’m a Plus member and I pre-ordered Thank You so much MM

  • One more thing reason to get move

  • Guys, what about a Move patch for LBP ?? Pleaaaaaaase answer cause it was one of the reasons I bought a PS Move.

  • I approve of this.

  • my birthday is jan. 21, wo0t early bithday present!

  • Thanks for this! Now I get to see if I want to buy this game or not. ;)

  • what is that about “a big bunch of LBP supporters” I have the beta I’m in?

  • this is just amazing to ps+ members:) ..too bad i don’t have the move yet :(

  • I really really wish they would stop forcing the move on people, some people CANNOT use a motion controller and it isn’t fair to them. It’s okay for a game to use move but seriously, start making ever move game also compatible with a DualShock controller. I would love to play this game, but I will NOT buy a move to play it. I hope someone at sony or MM reads this……

  • Who on earth would buy this when you can get it for free through Plus or with the game lol. Might as well just make it only available for Plus members and LBP2 buyers.

  • I always love finding grammar or spelling errors on anything that is professional. They say “you some need help” when it should be you need some help. I don’t think they did it on purpose either. Just always love seeing these.

This makes me wish I had a move. LBP2 will have move functionality thought right? Also what is with just PS Plus subscribers? I bought almost everything for littlebigplanet on the PS store, I really love everything and support Mm all the way, but I won’t get an invite because I don’t support Sony doing something stupid.

  • Demo! Thank goodness! Wait, Prehistoric Moves is free with LBP2?
