New PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter Attachment

Anand Agarwal's Avatar + Posted by Anand Agarwal on Dec 09, 2010 // Sr. Manager, Brand Marketing

Hi Everyone! There’s been a lot of talk about what shooter games will be like using motion control. We know that some of you gamers might be a bit hesitant to put down the gamepad, but we believe the upcoming PlayStation Move sharp shooter will make motion control for shooter games quite irresistible. Available concurrently with the highly anticipated Killzone 3 in Feb 2011 for $39.99 (MSRP), the sharp shooter is perfect for gamers who want to experience the most realistic action possible.

Sharp shooter

The PlayStation Move sharp shooter houses both the motion controller and navigation controller, giving you complete control over aiming, movement and interaction within the game. It will truly offer the most intuitive and immersive control experience ever found in a shooter game. It was designed for both comfort and precision, including easily accessible buttons, a responsive digital trigger, adjustable shoulder stock and convenient access to the navigation controller. In addition, the sharp shooter has incorporated a firing mode selector, realistic pump-action and a reload button that allow for new ways of engagement.

So what games will you be able to use the PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter with? The PlayStation Move sharp shooter was designed specifically with games such as Killzone 3 and SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs in mind and even comes with a Killzone 3 and SOCOM 4 sticker pack. Other compatible titles include Time Crisis: Razing Storm and Dead Space Extraction, but you can expect many more upcoming games that will work with it as well.

Jungle Green DS3 controller

We have some more peripherals news to share with you. In addition to the PlayStation Move sharp shooter, a new “Jungle Green” DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller will also be available in February 2011 for $54.99 (MSRP), to coincide with the upcoming launch of Killzone 3. There is already a wide array of colors available in the DUALSHOCK 3 family. Tailored to the core fan, the new “Jungle Green” controller will add yet another option for you to accessorize.

We hope you’re all as excited to get your hands on the PlayStation Move sharp shooter or the “Jungle Green” DS3 controller as we are. Enjoy!

I think the “jungle green” color DualShock 3 controller is all green but the bottom seems black due to shadow.

Grey and orange? I would buy this in a heartbeat if it was black or at least army green, or any color that looks decent.

Concerning the Sharp Shooter: Is that a Picatinny-type rail on top of what would normally be the receiver? Also, is the stock’s length adjustable?

Finally, I’ll agree with the rest of the posters stating this Sharp Shooter should be black. It’s already has neon orange side plates. With the ever-increasing use of polymers in firearm stock construction, the days of “black” guns are coming to a close. Trying to determine what the “safe” color is, is a losing battle. If it’s a question of politics, just remember, the anti-gun groups will protest this device’s existence no matter what color you happen to make it.

the way the nav controller is positioned it looks like it might feel a little awkward to play with but definitely cool none the less.

@BadFlounder: LOL if a cop shoots you because you have an obviously toy (black or not) gun he will lose his job and the police department will be sued.

Airsoft guns look EXACTLY like real guns, with nothing more than a small orange tip on them.

There is no good reason for the gun to be grey. Even if they really really really didn’t want to make it black they could have at least made it the same green color that the new DS3 controller is.

uh, that’s nice and cool for a gun. But to be honest. There are better looking gun. i could put the link but I think my comment wold not show up. Allow me to put the name of the PS Move rifle attachment and you can look it up on Google.

PS Move battle rifle

PS Move SMG

Also there are better looking PS Move shooting attachment (some that looks a lot like a pistol and way cheaper) pistol then the one Sony offered. No Offense to Sony, but the third party shooting attachment for Move do look better and more convincing and more appealing then the first-party.

Well Jeff I guess you need to ban every color of the spectrum including white as unusable for Gun Controllers and Toys as Cerakote is popular in gun customization. Can we please move away from the sheltered folk and be more appealing to the actual consumers that buy the product?

It has a glowing ball on the end of it. We all know AR-15s have glowing balls at the end of barrels instead of Flash Hiders/Suppressors/Comps. /sarcasm

The gun looks amazing. Its a good step towards making motion gaming more fun and realistic. If this sharp shooter thing gets compatible with all the future PS3 FPSs, then its worth every single penny. This gun with a 3D game is almost equal to real war. Good job sony, you never disappoint. Adding few more different color choices to the gun wouldn’t harm. It will make more customers happy so please think about it :)

And the grey on the gun periph. is soooo 1990.

Sony should make consoles in multiple colors which could boost sales especially since they already sell DualShock 3 wireless controllers in different colors for the consumers to choose from. Although Sony does offer controllers in blue, silver, white, red, and pink, so you never know if we might see PS3s match those colors in the future. But I sure wish they would release a few colored systems because I would be all over a PS3 in silver. As of now, North America only has the consoles available in black. I assume that this “Jungle Green” DS3 controllers may be the start of a new trend for adding a variety of colors, a yellow body controller casing with all the buttons green or a blue body casing with white buttons or something like a white and orange combination.

Does this have an easily accessible MOVE button, so that I can play RE5 Gold Edition using it? RE5 has backwards controls – trigger to aim, move button to shoot.

For those who want the Sharp Shooter to be black, they sell this stuff down at the hardware store called “spray paint” — it can actually change the color of almost anything that you can imagine! It can even change it to black!

+ fuzzyclutter on December 9th, 2010 at 4:10 pm said:

cool.. i was inquiring about this awhile ago .

@Everyone wanting it black , there are safety issues involved , AND in some states having a ORANGE tip is not enough . the important part is that you no longer have to shoot an assault rifle in game with a PISTOL type controller . how the gun looks ??? irrelavent .

Yes, I am so glad this is coming out. I wanted to pick up the rile style attachment but not having an official version left me waiting. After all, I know too many people who picked up the 3rd party attachments, only to have them break after 5 minutes of use. At least I know this will be a high quality attachment. And as for the color, who cares? I’m going to be too busy shooting the Helghast to even notice it.

I understand the coloring in the US is a matter of liability, and yet I see a lot of Airsoft BB/paintball guns made of black metal and plastic that look realistic.

Since gamers can paint their peripherals black to look more like a real gun, what is stopping criminals from painting their real guns white with orange to look more like fake guns? Then we end up with the same problem…

The answer is simple, really. Never point a gun at a cop (or someone else who might be armed) if you don’t want to get shot. And if we are talking about children who are too young to understand that simple fact, their parents better make sure that they don’t get their hands on a realistic-looking toy or game peripheral.

I really dont like what they did with the color of the gun. I think it should be a dark color or just plain black. I mean the system is a dark color why not make things match?

All you people complaining about the Coloring of The Move attachment gun, you do know you live in America right? You will NEVER see a toy gun in Black or any other dark color that would get it mistaken as a REAL gun by law enforcement! Come on people if you are going to complain at least make some kind of sense! It’s like you are 4 years old and don’t understand the way life is in the year 2010 in the united states! Geez!

wow now we’re talking ,but are we gonna have problems like when you guys decided not to make ps2 games compatible with the new system? let me expand. you will attempt to make the move gun bacwards compatible “able to use” with other “earlier” games on ps3 right? although you are right im a little resistant to the new “controller types” as i grew up and swear by sony playstation. overall im excited with playstations teams for the new leap! ha ha take that Wii<–it is another way to get your kid to use the remote "bad bad Wii"

Gun looks pretty cool.Few questions tho.

1.I noticed the triangle and circle buttons over the trigger, is it safe to assume the x and square are on the other side of the gun?

2. what are the 1,2,3 dots over the lock switch for? (rate of fire?)

3. It looks like there is a spot on top of the gun to place a scope attachment,or is it more buttons you just cant see in the pic?

Cant wait to (very carefully) take my airbrush to it.
