This morning, Entertainment Weekly revealed the next chapter in the critically-acclaimed, top-selling UNCHARTED franchise – UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception.
UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception continues to evolve all of the core principles we laid out for the UNCHARTED franchise, most important of which is creating an unmatched and extremely compelling interactive cinematic experience. UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception features the return of famed fortune hunter Nathan Drake and follows him through a gripping, action-packed storyline that will take you all over the world. In his search for the fabled “Atlantis of the Sands,” Nathan Drake and longtime friend and mentor Victor Sullivan set off on a daring trek into the heart of the Arabian Desert. But when terrible secrets of this lost city are uncovered, their journey becomes a desperate bid for survival that will force Drake to confront his deepest fears.
Throughout UNCHARTED 3, you’ll be taken to spectacular new locations around the globe that will showcase all of the work we’ve taken on to take acclaimed physics, particle and visual effects to a new level.
Competitive and co-op multiplayer will return as a key ingredient to the UNCHARTED 3 package, where all of the new features we have planned will combine with our signature single-player cinematic gameplay to create a unique action-adventure multiplayer experience that can only be found in the UNCHARTED universe.

I cannot wait for this!!! I’ve been playing multiplayer since I beat it…and just getting the rest of the medals. I had to take a 20 min break from work today just to read up on all the news!!!

Uncharted is the best game series I’ve ever played!
I played the single player 6 times through before discovering the multiplayer, and despite some glitches (and stupid Situational Awareness) I’ve spent hundreds of hours on it, loving it!
I’m sure the single player will be fantastic, but PLEASE,
take away Situational Awareness, and fix some of the glitches/lag.
Does this mean I can keep my first born child? That’s what I would have given for this game!! PS3 and Naughty Dog rule!!

This is like a gaming dream for me. Uncharted 2 is easily my most favorite game of all time. And I have been playing games for the past 20 years. It was a technical acheivement and most definitely THE best game of this generation. I am almost done with my third playthrough on crushing. I love that game. I also have a 3d tv and have already converted Uncharted 2 to 3d. It looks great. Can’t wait to play Uncharted 3 in native stereoscopic 3d. I love Uncharted. Best series ever.

If the Uncharted 2 single player is something you don’t consider good then I would say this just isn’t the series for you. They seem to be listening to consumers just fine.. by releasing top quality games that are fun to play and continue to evolve.
It might not be what you specifically want but you seem to be ignoring the majority of comments here that are extremely excited about the announcements made today.

And what I am saying is what does it matter if it contains those things if the single player is still an incredibly well done experience? Again those things may be frivolous to you but many people do enjoy them (including the developers themselves) and those things bring in more customers who would otherwise ignore the franchise – thus bringing in more money for them to make future games even more impressive in every way including the single player part.

As for the movie……. MY GAWD. Its gonna be a disaster. Naughty Dog please do something about it. They are gonna ruin it with that director and Mark Wahlberg. The movie should just be CGI with the original voice actors and geniuses that created Uncharted.

Played the first Uncharted a few months ago and it was great for the most part except for the endless onslaught of bad guys. That got old pretty fast especially the mutated ones — I lost interest after that level not sure I’ll even bother to finish it now and if the news ones are the same I you’ve lost me as a customer.
As for the movie I agree with the other posts Mark Wahlberg — really! Nathan Fillion would be a better choice.

OK. There’s one more bit of news would make this already awesome announcement SO much more exciting. I’ve read that for a game developer,the programming required to make a game 3D is actually somewhat similar to the programming required to make split-screen. They both involve essentially rendering the game twice from different angles. It’s neat that they’re making it support 3D and all. But just imagine…!
I think that split-screen is the single best addition they could make to the Uncharted series. Playing the next Uncharted, with a friend on the couch next to you, now THAT would be awesome.
