This morning, Entertainment Weekly revealed the next chapter in the critically-acclaimed, top-selling UNCHARTED franchise – UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception.
UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception continues to evolve all of the core principles we laid out for the UNCHARTED franchise, most important of which is creating an unmatched and extremely compelling interactive cinematic experience. In addition to having a compelling story and authentic characters that all of our fans can relate to as key facets to creating this type of experience, we push ourselves and the capability of the PlayStation hardware through constantly refined gameplay mechanics and technology innovation. UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception features the return of famed fortune hunter Nathan Drake and follows him through a gripping, action-packed storyline that will take you all over the world. In his search for the fabled “Atlantis of the Sands,” Nathan Drake and longtime friend and mentor Victor Sullivan set off on a daring trek into the heart of the Arabian Desert. But when terrible secrets of this lost city are uncovered, their journey becomes a desperate bid for survival that will force Drake to confront his deepest fears.
Throughout UNCHARTED 3, you’ll be taken to spectacular new locations around the globe that will showcase all of the work we’ve taken on to take acclaimed physics, particle and visual effects to a new level.

Splitscreen campaign? Developers a finally starting to listen now, so here is to hoping. With as good as Uncharted is, I don’t really care too much either way, but for other games I don’t even care why the second player is there or who he is, as long as he is there.

It’s rare when I get genuinely pumped or excited for an announced these days since everything is either leaked or awfully annualized…but this, even though I kind of saw it coming, has seriously got me freaking hella’ excited for next year!!! Going to pre-order this ASAP. I’m mean it’s Nathan Drake…in the Middle East, genius.
Also please do not sacrifice the 2D visuals for the 3D, max them both out in their own right.

Nolan North was born to play Nathan Drake, no one else. IF they are going to make a movie, it has to be animation, not live action. And if Mark Wahlberg is going to play Drake I wont watch a single movie featuring him anymore. He already ruined Max Payne with his presence.

Uncharted 3 doesn’t surprise me, it’s a series that NEEDS to be continued because of how well it has been done.
What really intrigues me is the title, “Drake’s Deception.” That right there is what has me more into thought than anything.

My assumption is that ND is focusing on gimmicks and crappy trends *instead* of focusing on making a good game.
They need to knock this crap off and focus on the basics.
3D capability and multiplayer add *NOTHING* to games.
Good gameplay supercedes everything else.

Those things might not add anything for you but for other gamers they are enjoyable. The single player in Uncharted 2 was one of my favorite gaming experiences this generation so I do not feel it suffered because of the mutliplayer. I am normally not a multiplayer kind of guy myself but enjoyed it in spite of similar worries to your own before release.
At this point I don’t think you should focus on it too much given NDs track record. We will get amazing gameplay with the added bonuses of the “gimmicks” for those who wish to use them. I understand your concern but feel at this point ND has proven themselves very capable.

And I remember when I saw the first vids of Drake’s Fortune on gametrailers.com with my friend and fell in love with the series. I had a heart attack when I saw Among Thieves and now my head just exploded for Drake’s Deception. Can’t wait, I know it will be amazing.

b) What would be the duration of the game considering the trend of 8-10 hour games going 4-6 hours has picked up steam with every COD release and its success and others following suit.
c) Will there be Elena?
d) Would there be more puzzles this time around to solve considering Uncharted’s focus has been in beautiful set piece action in the past?

I can’t wait, but the multiplayer better not be screwed up like #2’s was. First of all, the lag needs to be addressed. When I run 10 feet around a wall and still get shot and die from a guy standing behind me before I had turned, there’s a problem. Also, it would probably never happen but an increase in the health and FAL rate of fire like it was in the good ol’ days of Uncharted 2 would attract a lot more players. The old saying still goes… “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it!” I’m not complaining, but rather giving advice for the best franchise ever on the PS3! Thanks, Naughty Dog!

Uncharted 3 in 3D? I hope this wasn’t forced upon Naughty Dog. Regardless, I’m sure they’ll pull it off quite masterfully. Here’s hoping it doesn’t compromise the quality for those without a 3D tv set though.
