The Drop: Week of Dec 20th 2010 New Releases

Rey Gutierrez's Avatar Posted by on Dec 19, 2010 // Senior Social Media Specialist

“Twas the night before The Drop, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…” Did you honestly think we were going to sit this one out and get lost in a sea of eggnog and pecan pie this holiday? This may be the last official “The Drop” post I’ll be publishing this year, but we’ve made sure to go out with a triumphant explosion of gaming to wrap up 2010. The PlayStation Network delivers on all fronts this week, with an assortment of digital stocking stuffers with over 25 games for your PS3, Move and PSP.

The long awaited sequel to echochrome finally arrives on PS3 and on PlayStation Move when echochrome II emerges from the shadows this week, fans of Godzilla or Power Rangers will enjoy trashing a fictional metropolis with Eat Them! and rounding out what’s been an amazing collection of 50 PlayStation Move titles, Top Darts hits the bulls-eye. “…But I heard him exclaim, before he drove out of sight, Happy Holidays to all, and to all a goodnight!”

PSN: Echochrome II

PlayStation Network

echochrome II (PlayStation Move Compatible): Utilizing the PlayStation Move motion controller and the PlayStation Eye camera, players can rotate levels and control light and shadows to change the way objects are viewed and the shadows they cast. The ultimate goal is to lead your character through the path from beginning to end, while learning how a variety of different objects can be combined with perspectives, angles and the use of light can be used to help solve the puzzle.

Eat Them!

Top Darts for PlayStation Move (PSN)

Top Darts (PlayStation Move Compatible): Top Darts features a large selection of traditional darts games as well as an assortment of unique challenges & frantic offline multiplayer games for up to 8 players. Or go for gold in a wide range of fun and diverse challenges based on time limits, target scores, and accuracy.

Prince Of Persia: The Two Thrones HD: Part of the Prince of Persia Sands of Time trilogy, this remake of the classic third chapter of the series has been upgraded with enhanced graphic effects and offers options for HD (720p) and stereoscopic 3D output. The Prince of Persia, a seasoned warrior, returns from the Island of Time to Babylon with his love, Kaileena. Instead of the peace that he longs for, he finds his homeland ravaged by war and the kingdom turned against him. The Prince is rapidly captured and Kaileena has no choice but to sacrifice herself and unleash the Sands of Time in order to save him.

Blokus (PlayStation Move Compatible): The award-winning hit board game from Mattel arrives on PlayStation Network. Rey can you let the team know the U3 announcement dynamic theme is not 1920×1080? It sky stops short on the top of screen. Thread about it on U3 forums. Thx.

Oh my gosh I love Blokus!
LBP2 demo this week OMG!!!
Please play my LBP1 level “Drake and Tag: The Vampire’s Tomb”! I’d have published today, but I need to test more of it. Out tomorrow!
Amazing. No PS3 retail releases for two straight weeks, and yet millions of 2011 titles. Amazing.
If this is 2010’s last Drop, it’s been a great year. Have fun with your pies and egg nog Rey! See ya next year!

Hm… I really think it would be a good deal to release the three Prince of Persia games in a single Bluray disc in America.

So wait, Echocrome II is move “compatible”? Does that mean move is not required to play it?

ditto to #11. What’s that new Buzz game? I love Buzz.

+ fauxbanana on December 19th, 2010 at 4:49 pm said:

@ gerneric123
Completely agreed. I’m tired of mediocre flash based Pac-man games. Having to start the internet browser and scroll through my bookmarks trying to find it, then being disappointed yet again because it doesn’t run very well on a PSP. I also don’t want to have to spend the money to buy one of the games that comes with 20 or 30 classic games. I know from experience I’ll only end up playing Asteroids and Pac-man.

+ phatmillips on December 19th, 2010 at 4:49 pm said:

Wow, front mission 3 might be an insta-buy for me. Thanks!

+ fauxbanana on December 19th, 2010 at 4:51 pm said:

@ osricenpatt
Also agreed. As well as the GTA series. I don’t have any systems that can play them anymore :/

+ EHryan on December 19th, 2010 at 4:56 pm said:

wait, does this mean well finally getting games for the NEO GEO on psp?

also, tell square to announce CHRONO CROSS for the US PSN!!!! :)

+ digitalman123 on December 19th, 2010 at 5:05 pm said:

@13: That’d be awesome. I barely download PSN stuff, except DLC, avatars, [many] demos, only one PS3 game ever (Ratchet and Clank), and a few themes, so I’ll probably forget to download PoP, so a PoP trilogy on Blu-Ray disc would be sweet, and awesome, oh, and most likely money saving.

+ Mattsta001 on December 19th, 2010 at 5:22 pm said:

Hey Rey, can you let the PS team know most of the Minis are crap and maybe suggest they be a bit more discerning in what they approve? Would be good to get some quality indie stuff instead of shovelware.

+ Maxthunder1 on December 19th, 2010 at 5:26 pm said:

Its great that you guys are adding new games, but please add some more PS1 games. I mean for the last month there is either 1 or nothing a week. More often none per week.

1. Which Metal Slug?
2. Got trophies since it’s a PSN title not PS One?
3. Does it have new features since its a PSN title not a PS One?

Or is it that you have it under the wrong category?

Well, I’ll just assume Vietnam is releasing on time. Still curious as to why it’s not listed though. Seems like one of the bigger releases this week, strange it wouldn’t be listed.

Forgot that Top Darts was coming out. Looking forward to it. Does it have trophies and what is the price? Although I enjoy Blokus, not sure if I will get it since I have the board game already. Great strategy game though if you have never tried it.

So only 2 psp games (metal slug/fatal fury) well looks like ill be gettin noting on the psn for xmas. you would think they would at least support the psp during xmas when people buy game system and stuff as gifts, but i guess not.

Its almost been a full year since i had my psp go (got it as an Xmas gift) and it hurts to say i have been very very dissatisfied with the psp go. only having about 5 games on it, it could be more if you guys would actually support the dam thing.

Hopefully 2011 will be a good year for psp and you guys start releasing GOOD games on the psn like Crisis Core, and other games.
