SNK Titles on Sale for PlayStation Plus and SEGA Holiday Sale Starts Tomorrow

88 0

Hi everyone,

As the holidays inch closer, the PlayStation Store decided to partner with two publishers who shaped many gamers’ youths —SNK and SEGA. Both have released some of most noteworthy titles of the 1990s, including Sonic the Hedgehog and King of Fighters. SEGA has done a great job of bringing some of their most popular titles along with revitalizing one of our favorite blue hedgehogs and now SNK is following in their footsteps.

As an early holiday gift, both of these publishers will be offering sales on a handful of great PSN titles. SNK will be offering PlayStation Plus subscribers a 20% discount on all SNK games when they release in tomorrow’s PlayStation Store update. Also, SEGA will be holding a sale that includes some of their newer releases, such as Valkyria Chronicles 2, Phantasy Star Portable 2, and the re-release of Sonic Adventure. All these items can be found in the “Featured Publishers” category on the games section of the PlayStation Store. See the full list below:

  • With no Trophies, the only game I’d ever buy is Magician Lord… maybe.

  • i love how you are bringing back old school stuff. I would love to have seen Super Double Dragon brought back with multliplayer i’d buy that in a heartbeat.

  • damn i want phantasy star 2. crap on a stick. ugh you guys suck so bad. im gonna borrow money from my dog.

  • OMG!I bought Sonic 4 yesterday lol. Oh well I guess the extra five bucks will help develop episode 2.

  • This is a great sale for classics and I am really tempted to spend some money. Really looking forward to seeing the neo geo station in action since it comes with emulator features. I really might have to buy a game or two because of the sales for being a PS Plus member.

    Thanks as always Sony, Sold.

  • Wow those are not good holiday sales (if that’s all there is this Xmas). Half of them are only for PS+ members. And they are mostly old games. No thanks. Steam just started their sale on PC, i got Bioshock for $5, Portal for $2.50, PT Winterbottom for .49 cents. That’s right, they have many games for under $5. Xcom was $1.60, and Super Meat Boy which is a brand new release was $3.25. How come they can do deals like that on 1000 games this week, yet PSN gets like 15 old games with minor % off? Lame.

Also the PSN store needs to copy the Steam store layout, its so much easier to find games and see whats on sale that week. Plus on PSN you cant even get a list of the games you own, you have to go through page after page of games and see the little red square on the title to show you own it, or sort through your “download” history.. Steam has your “Library” page all nice and neat and orderly. And the community page on your Steam account is set up with everything you want, the PSN online community features are so lacking. i cant even tell what game my buddies just got trophies in unless i recognize the tiny icons myself. So dumb. Please copy them, no one will think you are bad for taking a good format from somewhere else.

  • Finally, Sonic 4 is on sale! Great price for Valkyria Chronicles 2 as well, but I would rather have a hard copy.

  • Did Scrooge take over Sony this Christmas? This is the worst lineup I’ve ever seen. Way to go.

  • @flowerviolence
Not me. Not after what happened with my Star Ocean UMDs.

No more UMDs for me unless I can only get some sort of collector’s edition (like Lunar: Silver Star Harmony) with the UMD purchase.

  • @JHS200
Who the hell is Scrooge? And let’s not forget – we still have tomorrow’s update to look at. So don’t judge which lineup is the worst until then.

  • Hello does anyone know when the little big planet christmas pack is coming out and if so on psn or in game store

  • You guys are crazy, it’s too expensive for a digital and a 15+ year old content.. I love these games because that’s what I played during my childhood, but I didn’t expect this much of a price for a PS3 version and of course without any graphic enhancing. This is a total disrespect for the fans of the NeoGeo machine.

  • Oo phantasy star portable 2 and valkyrie chronicles 2 im sold :)

  • @Aphasial. You do realize that with most MMO betas you can just upgrade to a full version right? So you don’t have to download stuff again. Forcing us to install of the disc and download a massive update (as there will definitely be a substantial install (I’d worry for the fate of our blu-ray drives if there wasn’t) is just as annoying, if not more so.

Not to mention, games run better – faster, more efficiently – when installed off a HDD.

  • Wow, I’m not going to go to jail because of theft because of this am I?

These prices are way too low!

  • Too bad, I find EU Festive sale much better. Festive Offers from EA, Namco Bandai, and Ubisoft. Would definitely love some good discounts on SCEA too.

  • hello metal slug, goodbye time!

  • Has anyone else noticed that Grace Chen is utterly useless when it comes to responses? I think I’ve seen her post something once – and that’s being generous, I might have imagined it.

  • Damn you Sega! I just bought all those Sonic games last week!

  • 9$ for a NeoGeo ROM? Seriously, this is abusive.

  • No trophies?? come on… it’s a big mistake Sony and SNK

  • Will be grabbing Sonic 4! :D

  • Looks good to me. I can justify the 2 dollars for the Sonic DX upgrade.

King of Fighters ’94 and Metal Slug will prove great fun as well ;D

  • Without Trophies theres not much incentive at all for “upgrading” from my emulators with all these SNK Games…

Enable Trophies, give us something else of what we already have, then lets talk money

  • Question: Are the SNK games playable on the PS3 AND PSP, or just one of the systems?

  • Neo-Geo sucked. Too bad this isn’t Turbo Graphix 16…

  • Oh, and HEY SONY!

$8.99 for a Neo-Geo game is a RIP-OFF! These should be no higher than $4.99 EVER. Period.

    I’ll be passing…

  • (wishes you could “edit” comments after posting)

At $8.99 a game, if I wanted to buy all 10 games, that would cost $90.

There’s no way a retro-gaming compilation disc with TEN games should cost that much, hence, you’re pricing is riduclous SNK/Sony.

  • Wow I can’t ignore Valkyria Chronicles 2 for $15.99 today.

  • When are the sale prices coming into effect?

  • Totally picking up VC2 for my PSP which has been collecting dust as of late.

  • Oh how I love being a PS Plus member! Happy Holidays Sony Playstation! :)

  • “Scott Pilgrim + Turtles in Time Reshelled + Voodoo Dice Bundle (£11.99/€14.99)”

BRING THAT HERE. Seriously? The EU update is HEFTY, with deals from lots of different publishers. We get 10 whole things on sale for regular non-plus users. Absolutely pitiful.

  • Sounds great but I’m hoping to see a price drop on Bioshock 1 & 2 DLC! Even if it is temporary, it would be nice and I’d get all the Bioshock DLC (one of my favorite games).

  • Would love to see Nam ’75 hit the NeoGeo store!

  • KOF 98 Ultimate Match & all Samurai shodown titles please!!

  • When will they be available on Amazon.com? I want to send my bro one of these games for Christmas…

  • When is the update going to happen? (taps foot waiting impatiently)I’m waiting to buy after burner climax. I’m also going to play borderlands for the first time. I’m excited because my nephew raves about it. So I might go ahead and just purchase it. Great MONTH by the way for Playstation Plus members!!!!! Great job guys keep it up for next month! I have seriously told everyone about Playstation Plus so far 2 people have signed up and they love it. 1 more on the way!
