  • I got a feeling this sexy thang is gonna cost at least 300 – 350 (I hope not). It would be great if it was 250 as usual but these good specs must’ve cost money, so if they sold it for 250 then they might not profit a lot (I don’t know just an opinion). But damn this portable is awesome. I just hope the battery life won’t be a problem which they are struggling with now, cuz this machine is powerful, so powerful it will burn our hands while we play the game for hours. Damn, it sucks we have to wait till holiday but hey at least it is coming out during 2011.

  • i am disappointed that there was no keyboard. Having a keyboard would be awesome for text chat or IM and all. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a virtual keyboard since it now has Touch Screen (Multi Touch Screen actually).

  • I notice there was no mention of any internal memory.? If there is one, how big will it be 100gig, 200gig, 300gig ……. 500gig or lower?

  • It’s a shame that there isn’t a way to get our UMD games on there, but it’s not a dealbreaker for anyone besides the trolls. I want this thing right now, and I’d beat the h€ll out of room full of two faced “homebrew isn’t piracy” PS3 crackers to get one…..or even just a discount on one.

P.S. I just watched the trailer……eeeep. As much as I want a PSP2 (or whatever you’re going to call it) that trailer was absolutely horrible. Those kids look like the even prissier looking friends of the uber prissy Dante from Ninja Theory’s DMC trailer.

  • I knew I was right to hold out on buying any portable device! Guess I’ll start saving up for this! :)

  • @Sid Shuman

    1.how much ram?
    2.what type of ram?
3.how much battery life per charge?
    4.will it have dual shock?
    5.how much will it cost?
    6.when can i per-order one?

  • Wow, this thing seems to have more processing power than the Wii! lol

But it will probably retail higher than the current price of the PS3… I just bought a PSP for Chains Of Olympus and changed my 20gb for a slim PS3, so I probably won’t get that before 2015 or the price is good enough.

  • I want me some flOwer and Shadow of the colossus/ico HD on my PSP2!!!! Portal 2 on the PSP2. I want to (when adequate) start a game on my PS3 and continue it on the go with my PSP2! That would be nice.

  • wasnt 3d a gimmick? LOL why would i play 3d when i have to tilt n rotate the dam thing? on a side note…..4 core…damn

  • i remember N-gage doing something like this…it was like S#it
i have a lot of te “almighty” UMD’s, i will not be buying this, sorry, that’s it with my handheld systems, goodluck sorny

  • 3d on a small screen like the DS IS a gimmick and a waste of tech.

  • Cant blame sony for dropping the UMD, come on, that is old tech and proprietary. They can add a UMD drive in every new device.

  • I’m still wondering about the medium it’ll use.

If they go with a physical medium as opposed to 100% digital, then I’d vote for like a BluRay UMD or something. Then they can make this backwards compatible with PSP UMD games.

But if they make this 100% digital, piracy will be eliminated basically, but then Sony would to include a substantial size of internal storage.

  • …all without jacking up the MSRP.

You guys are competing with the 3DS at $249.99 as well as trying not to relive the PR mess of the PS3 launch price of $600 and $500.

  • Aside from the pricing, I want to know how the analog sticks feel. The PSP nub was not the most comfortable thing in the world.

  • I’m just gonna wait for the other models.

  • You gotta be kidding me! Hey Sony! Please, have me do the testing! I will do it for free and keep my mouth shut! Please!

  • According to IGN, they raved about the controls, numb sticks, said the device felt great, it was a glowing preview.

  • Really want a UMD upgrade program, also R2 and L2 would be killer!
I assume this will also support RemotePlay?

    Otherwise can’t wait!
    DAY 1!

  • BONER!!!

  • im not happy t all, i was estatic about the Headline, saw a pic, this looks clunky compared to my old psp go and iff its not out by next week, im might pass on it…heartbroken right now. 4th gen touch here i come damnit… They Saying Holiday 2011.. YOU MUST BE KIDDING ME.

  • Totally awesome !!
I can’t wait to buy NGP!
This has pretty much everything I want for handheld gaming.

  • welcome to the house of BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

  • …NO 3D???

GOOD! who the fk likes 3D anyways -_- If you like 3D that much come over here and let me throw a burrito on your face. You 3D lovers and James Cameron go get a 3Ds and play mario for the 11th billion time.

  • Could codename “NGP” stand for Next Generation Portable?!? Most uncreative project codename ever. I will have to look further into the details but this NGP psp seems more like current generation 1.5 than ‘next’ gen to me!

  • Hey Jeff,
Do you know which 3G bands will be supported?
also, since we are talking about a very powerful machine here; any word on Remote Play?

I know everybody is asking thus, but due to the high end specs Im a little afraid of over heating and battery life. Do you know anything about this?

    Thanx

  • Looks like this thing will cost way too much. It does look neat though so lets see how things pan out. Also I am a sucker for wipeout even though I am never that good at it.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better start saving my Sony Points…

It sounds great and all but from past products Sony always seems to overcharge to start. Lets hope they can give us a great price point!!!!!!

  • I own LittleBigPlanet, Resistance and Uncharted for the PS3. Will I have to purchase these games again to play them on the NGP?

I own many PSP titles on UMD drives. Will there be some way to play them on the NGP without having to purchase them on the PSN (if they are even available there)?

I own many PS2 games. Will I be able to play them on the NGP without having to purchase them for a second time?

I own many PS1 games. Will I be able to play them on the NGP without having to purchase them again?

Will anything play from here on the still rumored Playstation Phone and vice versa?

  • what, no 3D capability?! :\

  • i think both devices are great
i was really impressed by the ngp graphics and its access to 3g and all
but the downfall was the games it only has about 4 games im looking foward to play on it
and i think there is only a total of 8 being developed for it at the moment
which really sucks imo i think the 3ds takes this one because of one thing
the 3D support the 3ds is basically the same thing as the ngp they both run all those apps
and they both have flash based media carts to run games off its just that the 3ds loses
as far as graphics compared to the ngp but i never really been about graphics
i am mostly about the games and how they play with 30+ already being worked on the 3ds
i think it wins for now maybe in the future we will see more cool stuff being added to it
from sony but for now it aint nothing new we havent seen on smartphones or anything
else by the matter what do yall think?

  • does the system have R3/L3?

  • EPIC, now to start saving for it, any idea on the price or release bundles?

  • So uh, I hope this is not going to be ridiculously expensive!

  • Will buy on day one! I can’t wait!

  • U.G.L.Y U AINT GOT NO ALLIBY NGP U UGLY

  • How would you import your own music and videos? I guess transfer from a memory stick? I did not see a usb port.

  • Please quit whining about backward compatibility! Just use your old psp to play your umd’s. BC kills progress.

    Will buy NGP day one!

  • I’m curious how licensing will work for this. Since it’s a new type of device, are we granted an additional 5 licenses for NGP use? Ive been through a few psp’s (broke one, sold one and forgot to deactivate, one got stolen, then replaced with a PSP go) and only have 1 more activation available for PSP on my account, so it would be nice is this is considered a 3rd type of device with it’s own 5 activations

  • WipEout!?! Sold!

  • well with the new 3ds being released and this too Im quite stuck. I am a sony boy though i own a ps3, psp 2000, psp 3000, ps2 and a ps1 and I am really looking forward to this. the only thing is th reason that ds has beaten psp is because of its lower price and better games. I must say though the new psp is shaping up some good titles and I think im going to stay true. Well lets just see the price at the launch

  • Sony, could you please now make a REAL UMD exchange program or something so we don’t loose all of our games when getting the NGP? and do it all over the world, not just US and JP, cause I want this console but I’m not willing to get rid of my past games

  • ME. WANT. NOW.

  • Man this thing looks so cool, I may have to get 2 of them. Why? So I can dance with them thats why O_O…

  • That looks awesome! but might I suggest that the front camera goes into the middle of the device. if there were any games that support the front facing camera, having to move the device to the left constantly would be a pain. But I REALLY like what this is looking like! great coverage jeff! I can’t wait to hear more :D

  • use original PSp to play UMD’s, problem solved, geez.

  • It’s looking good! :D

  • great news for me! cant wait to want it….

  • lol
so what happens to the older gen psp’s?
looks like we’ll only be playing minis on these devices when psp2 is released
i’ll pass on this junk and stick with my android phone
i hope google comes out with a gaming console some day
so i can be rid of all Sony useless and unsupported devices
