SingStar Update: 45 More Songs Added

38 0

It’s time for another SingStar update! We’re still browsing through all of our rockin’ Universal content and we’re eager to release as much as we can into the U.S. SingStore. So this week’s update is another pretty sizeable one, with over 45 new songs and a handful of new PlayStation Move dance-enabled tracks.

Bon Jovi: You Give Love A Bad Name

Some of our favorite highlights include a number of hits from rock group Sum 41, Boyz II Men’s debut single “Motownphilly”, the Pussycat Doll’s upbeat pop hit “When I Grown Up”, as well as the Gin Blossom’s chart topper “Hey Jealousy”. And if you hadn’t already picked up one the Bon Jovi song packs, you can now download some of those songs individually as well.

Let us know which songs are hits at your SingStar parties!

Until next time … enjoy!

  • thanks for the update! :D

  • Still no word on Depeche Mode?

  • Brasil here!!! We love PS3.

  • I am impressed. Two NA SS updates within a short period of time. Good job guys on bringing more content in. I haven’t had any friends over in a while to hop on, but I’m sure by the time they do come, they’ll have a lot more to options to pick.

My only gripe is, I have 3 PS3’s and 1 is the main one. Unfortunately, we cannot transfer anything from the first PS3 to the new one in regards to SS downloads. We are not permitted to download things already purchased or downloaded on the new system if it was already downloaded on the old system. Any ideas on how to change that or if we will be permitted to in the future? It makes me hold back from purchasing anything again.

  • Sweet, Bon Jovi songs… Living on a Prayer tonight!!! Maybe I can actually come close to competing against my mother– who always seems to school me in me SingStar…

  • Wow, SS getting good NA updates? Surprised me. Maybe I should get it.

  • Nice add more No Doubt & we have a deal lmao… Nice update tho

  • Yay. Bon Jovi and Sum 41 for single downloads.

I just got Singstar and Singstar ABBA the other day and I love it so much. I had problems until I updated the game. I could not believe how much changed within that update. I’ve played some of the other singstars and found them okay but Singstar for PS3 is the best. I even bought a PS Eye just for singstar and me and my roomates have had a blast singing and having the snapshot and watching ourselves and thinking, “Oh my god we suck”.

I’m even more amazed how many songs were on there. I already downloaded like 13. I’m thinking of getting Singstar Dance soon. Please Please add the rest of the snow patrol songs. We got Pack 2 but in the UK they came out with a lot more. Keep up the good works guys :)

  • Good update… I was hoping for more ‘new songs’ but it’s ok for now!!!

  • Wireless mics…..please? I am tired of tripping on the wires

  • I have a question are there any songs on the singstar store that support move or do I have to buy the singstar move game I don’t have internet atm

  • That’s great news but, it’s a little late. Not to mention we still don’t have wireless mics.

  • Nice update!!

  • Are we in the U.S. getting tracks in other languages? I see this week in Europe they got Julieta Venegas ‘Limon Y Sal’. Um please?

  • Awesome thanks for the added song i’ve been wanting the Stereophonics (maybe tomorrow) for along time. Hopefuly one day we could have all the song that the UK store has !

I have a question are there any songs on the singstar store that support move or do I have to buy the singstar move game I don’t have internet atm

There is a free update in the Singstore for Dance(move). Pop in any Singstar PS3 game, download the update, and then you will be able to download songs that have Move support. You will need to first purchase the song then the Dance portion. ($1.99 total for both)

  • Some cool songs in there. I’ll start buying again as soon as you:

**RELEASE SINGSTAR WIRELESS MICS IN THE U.S.**
**RELEASE SINGSTAR WIRELESS MICS IN THE U.S.**
**RELEASE SINGSTAR WIRELESS MICS IN THE U.S.**

You can’t ignore this forever. That is, unless you are TRYING to fail. Importing is not a convenient or acceptable alternative. It’s been said a thousand times.

  • Awesome! But sadly due to no Wireless mics and other features I caved and bought Lips :( sorreh

  • I had a massive party on Friday, and Singstar was the most popular thing at the party! I bought some songs for the first time! I bought Cars, I think we’re alone now, and Total Eclipse of the Heart!

It was a TON of fun! =)

(And I finally got that Silver Trophy for performing 100 Songs!)

  • Sum 41 is my jam.

  • eh, none of the tracks are really grabbing me in this update.

I was wondering why I can’t guy the Guitar add-on for Pulp’s song called Common People, though. I bought the song, and the guitar add-on is listed in My SingStore, but it still has the little lock icon on it :(

Speaking of Common People, I was disappointed that it didn’t have a Dance add-on, given Jarvis’ awesome dance he improvised while shooting the video.

Please add more 1990s David Bowie and Duran Duran videos :)

  • Dear SingStar

Do you know when we’re going to get the online component of SingStar and the SingStar Store in Asia.

On the Hong Kong edition it said “coming soon”, but I’m not quite sure what the definition of “soon” is. I mean, Duke Nukem Forever was “coming soon” when I got my first PS2

  • Great game, good update but what is really needed and way overdue are the wireless mics.

Also would like to see some more US release tunes in Hip Hop, R&B, and Pop. Until then, Def Jam Rapstar and Lips is where I purchase my most of my songs.

  • Please bring Depeche Mode. As much as possible and thank you.

  • Please… MOTOWN!!!!!
I want the songs from the game you released in Europe.
And, please, more spanish songs. Suggestions? Groups from Latin America too: Soda Stereo, Mana, Los Prisioneros, etc…

  • I got the Bon Jovi rock pack and the Sum 41 pack… Most of this I don’t care for except 5 songs. My sister and I squealed for joy. Thanks PlayStation! =^D

  • i’d also like to see the Julieta Venegas song, as well as the other non-English tracks release in the U.S. Especially Julieta Venegas.

  • @Bug42 They are not in the U.S. SingStore because their NA distribution rights are owned by WMG (compared to UMG in Europe). WMG does not support downloadable music for ANY game.

Glad to see the Bon Jovi music. :D

  • Sweet update. Still waiting for some more nsync, backstreet boys, and even 98 degrees

  • Pass the Dutchie by Musical Youth? Oh YES!

  • Very nice. Please put some Red Hot Chili Peppers, My Chemical Romance, Guns N’ Roses, and Metallica. Thanxs!!

  • Need some Linkin Park, although this is great :D

  • Keep em comin, my family and I love this game.

  • I’m surprised no one else seems to ask for this but Singstar really could use some SHOW TUNES!!! PLEASE….for me and all of my musical theater loving friends, get some show tunes in your download-able catalog!

  • can’t you add some new songs with cool bands like florence and the machine’s,bruno mars or maybe rihannas songs :)something from this century…

  • HEY LOMNG TIME I HAVEN’T LISTENED TO THE TING TING :D
    Fall out boy :D
i don’t listen to Sum anymore because of their last song, INCLUDE ANGELS AND AIRWAVES and Blink 182 :D

  • nice drop, but obviously needs more Bieber. ;P

  • Once the U.S. finishes playing catch up to every other SingStore, I PRAY that all SingStar fans will then receive quality worldwide update. However, I’m hesitant to believe this too easily based on the track record of Sony’s treatment of the American SingStar fan.

If you compare these updates to what’s being released overseas, you’ll also notice a flip-flopping trend occuring – the UK is now receiving the minimalist support the US ‘enjoyed’ for nearly 2 years while we are receiving decent updates for the first time.

If the UK fans, one of the most loyal fan bases, are now getting the shaft, I don’t have a ton of hope.

Our last few large updates have been a majority of ported-from-the-UK-store songs. This, coupled with the lack of actually newly-created-for-this-update content, has me suspicious.

Anyway, regardless of what future updates hold – release the bloody wireless mikes in the US already! For the love of Zeus, what is the holdup on this front? (Sorry Sony, we’re not buying licensing rights for this one. You hold the patent…)
