Citizens of earth, there is nothing else to fear, the creature has been caught, slain and caged away. The days of finding loose feathers in your cereal bowls and arrows lodged into your front doors has finally come to an end. Cupid is no more! In celebration of the capture of this nefarious beast, I present you with this Valentine’s Day card. The Drop!

The-Drop-Main-Header

After a decade of patiently tapping on your arcade joysticks, Capcom brings the the fate of two worlds to the PS3 in the stylish and hyper-realistic fighter, Marvel vs Capcom 3. Personify your PlayStation 3 into a goddess and join Neptune on a quest to save Gamindustri from the evil forces of Arfoire in Hyperdimension Neptunia. Try saying that three times fast. On the digital spectrum, two well recognized franchises arrive on PSN with a long list of episodes. PS minis return this week with a dual offering, followed by a triple dosage of classics on PSone.

Quickly now, our Valentine’s Day pillaging doesn’t end here, we have a world supply of candy hearts we need to plunder.

Fill the shoes of legendary characters from both the Marvel and Capcom Universes — including massively popular characters such as Ryu, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Morrigan, as well as fan favorites such as Trish from Devil May Cry and the wise-cracking Deadpool. They all come to you battle in a living comic book art style powered by Capcom’s MT Framework, an advance version of the graphics engine used for Resident Evil 5. (PS Blog Coverage: Read More)

Hyperdimension Neptunia – Hyperdimension Neptunia is a unique RPG for PlayStation 3 that features game consoles personified as goddesses — CPUs (Console Patron Units) — who you can customize visually with equipment to enhance their stats. Players take the role of Neptune and follow her quest to save the captive Histoire.

Expect big air, ballsy tricks, mass-crush online play for up to 16 racers, and no end to the mayhem.

Acceleration of Suguri X-Edition – The “little war” continues at a breakneck pace in Acceleration of Suguri, the follow-up to doujin game developer Orange_Juice’s unique side-scrolling shooter title. Whether you choose to play as Suguri, Hime, Nanako or any of the other multiple fighters, you’re dealing with weapons of massive destruction! Score big damage points through Max Attacks and lowering your enemy’s armor gauge level, but keep in mind that your enemy is trying to do the same to you!

This episodic game series takes you back in time as Marty and Doc embark on a completely new cinematic time-travel adventure based on the blockbuster movie franchise about a nutty scientist who has invented a time-traveling DeLorean.

TNT Racers (PSP) – TNT Racers is a racing game full of variety, combining fast as lightning race action with brand new features. Will the PSOne Classics work on PSP & PS3?? YOU REALLY NEED TO SPECIFY- this very article got me excited for Pocket Fighter last week without mentioning it’s shortcomings, and I wasted $6 downloading it on my PS3 as I really just wanted to store it there and copy it to PSP. I have no interest in buying a PSOne Classic that only works on PS3, and I’m not spending money on a PS3 title with no Trophy incentive to play it. Shame on you guys for not making that clearer, even here in a detailed online post, or for even allowing a PS1 release that IS NOT COMPLETE OR WORKING PROPERLY!

I could’ve used that $6 to put towards my 5th PS3 console repair! Hooray for these awesome ($599, I’ll remind you) 60GB models. Guess I’ll be “upgrading” to a slim this time (ONLY $120 more!). I have no choice. These 60GB units JUST DON’T WORK FOR VERY LONG! This is obviously a problem as I’m experiencing a meltdown on the 7th 60GB unit I’ve seen take a dump. 7 for 7!

Ya know, I see this asked nearly every week the PS One Classics come in, but seriously – who picks the PS One Classics?

Because the picks are so often just ridiculously niche or stuff that seems unworthy of the port to the PS Store. Definitely stuff that less worthy than things in higher demand.

That said, I’d love it if one day Intelligent Qube made it to the PS Store. This was a pretty rare game back in the day and I only ever got to play some of it on a demo disc, and it was pretty cool.

+ KongWen on February 14th, 2011 at 7:13 am said:

PS1 releases are determined less by demand and more by when and from whom Sony secures digital distribution licenses. Legend of Dragoon will come eventually, those Square Enix games (including the not-as-good-as-these-KOEI-games-Xenogears) will come as soon as North American rights are ironed out, etc.

Thank God they don’t just release “popular” games, or all our favourite niche games would never get released.

Why do we have to wait until the last Tuesday for Alien Breed 3?

BTTF looks good, and Tell Tale does a great job, so I hope it keeps me busy for a week, though I doubt it.

When are we going to get some decent and a more steady stream of full games (Vanquish, Dead Space, RDR, GTA4, etc…)?

Mass Effect 2 was a nice change of pace to have it available on the PSN, but the other console has a ton of Multiplats on their downloadable game service…why doesnt the PSN have more?

Awesome week for RPG fans with two turn-based RPGs releasing this week. I’ve got both on pre-order, actually Tactics Ogre has already shipping so I’ll have it in my hands tomorrow.

@darkmark1987 – It will be $40 just like the retail version. PSN is never cheaper than retail, unless they happen to have a sale, but that’s very rare.
