PlayStation Network Gamers’ Choice Awards 2011 – Voting Opens Today!

Pierre Gravereau's Avatar + Posted by Pierre Gravereau on Feb 22, 2011 // Director, Digital Distribution

Last week, we announced the new PlayStation Network Gamers’ Choice Awards, complete with a great line up of nominees in four different categories. Hopefully you’ve had a chance to peruse the nominated games because today we open up the voting to all of you! We’re looking for your opinions on which games are truly the best.

PlayStation Network Gamers’ Choice Awards 2011

Make your way over to the PlayStation Store today and cast your vote for the best games – Best PS3 Downloadable Game, Best PSP Downloadable Game, Best PS3/PSP Mini, and Best PSN Exclusive Game. Each time you vote you’ll download a new PSN Gamers’ Choice Awards XMB theme, but be aware that you are limited to one vote per category—so make it count!

When the voting ends on March 1, we’ll start tallying up the scores and announce the winners here on March 7. The next day, we’ll kick off the annual Spring Fever sale with the PSN Gamers’ Choice Awards 2011 winners, where you’ll have the chance to buy the winning games at a discount.

You’re still here?! The PlayStation Store is waiting– get over there and cast your votes.

So wait let me get this straight.

We (the gamers) vote on these games. Winner of these Games through the voting we (the gamers) have chosen will have a discount?

Isnt this going to get abused? I mean why should I vote for Castle Crasher, Scott Pilgrim as i already own them. when i can vote for a game i dont own and get it at a discount.

Also how will we be voting? i mean do we already have to own said game to vote for it? how will you (Sony) know if people arent Ghosting votes (eg. making new accounts to get the voting up), etc.

I mean this seems unprofessional. Plus how do we know things arent already rigged? most “Votes” are usually pre-planned out, how do we know this wont be either? for all we know the companies could have already paid Sony a large sum of money so they can be on sale when they “Win”.

I voted for Phantasy Star Portable 2 but the theme that downloaded is just a generic “PSN Gamers Choice Awards” theme. I thought we would be getting new themes based on the games themselves. I’m disappointed now. :(

Wait so do we have to look up the game itself and then vote for it or is there a special page where you vote? I don’t see it…..Will it go up when the store is updated?

so in other words, there’s only four themes per vote?

Edit: One theme per vote = four themes all together?

Really disappointed. I thought we were downloading themes that would be of the games we’re choosing. I could hardly wait to get a Persona 3 theme and Pac-man CE DX theme, but to my dismay, they’re generic themes with teeny-tiny photos of all of the games :'(

Actually, after reading your comment, I can relax now because I was trying to choose carefully what to vote for in case the theme depended on what I voted.

So why ARE they using the Rock Band font for this promotion? It doesn’t appear to have anything to do with Rock Band…

I don’t own any of these games, but thanks to demos I can at least vote on which one I liked playing the best. Except for the minis where I’m torn between Thor and Monsters as I am currently “renting” the other 3 as a PS+ member.

These themes you get for voting stink! Couldn’t you just spend more than 5 minutes making them? That’s like saying, “Vote here for your favorite game that we are pretty much choosing for you and in doing so I will give you this lame piece of paper that does nothing. Also don’t forget to vote for other games that we choose for you so you won’t miss out on getting the SAME PIECE OF PAPER!”
What a waste of time and of course a waste of time stating this on here because you can care less.

why can’t we just vote online? i don’t want the themes, and i do want to vote. why bother wasting time downloading something i don’t want?

I don’t get it. the games that are listed do not consist of the best of the best. there are so many games in each category which are not listed and should be compared to some which are listed.

i voted only in one category as the others were lame and not reflective of actual “top games” for those categories.

i hope next year’s list will be better selected and more appropriate to what is actually “the best of the best” and not “which ones were most popular”… this isn’t the oscars after all….

Voting for Castle Crashers. I’d love to pick that up at a reduced price.
