Holy crap, these Gamers’ Choice Awards themes suck!
They’re all generic themes with standard icons, and the background is a Gamers’ Choice Awards 2011 wallpaper with the category and nominees on it. This is so incredibly disappointing.
Know why I downloaded for Scott Pilgrim? Because I thought some Scott Pilgrim icons and wallpapers were involved!
Know why I downloaded for the others? The same reason! Oh my god, this whole thing is a massively disappointing publicity and marketing maneuver. It’s all so weak, from the incentive-driven voting to game selections to the themes, and the discount on the winners is also going to be weak because, really, what’s a discount on A Space Shooter for $2 or Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess?

Good update but please don’t lure us to vote for games by giving us a lame theme. Those themes are so basic not worth spending my time voting for. Why did you go the 5 minute cheap route?
I want to say please give the themes out for the PSN Gamers’ Choice Awards at the end. I wanted one of the themes more then the game I voted for. But I voted for the game I wanted to win. So please allow the other themes to be able to be downloaded after the competition is over.

This is a very broken system. Who is going to vote for something they own, or have even played? Everyone will vote on something they want to go on sale, so this is in no way any indication of what gamer’s liked from last year. This should have been a sale promotion, or an awards promotion, but not both.
Can’t believe guerilla games is actually charging for maps that are on killzone 2, especially since it’s 4.99, i mean if it was 0.99 that would be a different story but for only two old maps, wow!
@166: There have been numerous ways to get these map packs for free, including preordering the game — and most people interested in downloading extra maps probably preordered the game anyway — and by participating in free contests, one of which I believe was run on GG’s own site. It’s an incentive for people to get the game early, which bolsters Killzone 3’s launch sales numbers and helps to make up for what were, judging from the extremely high production values of the game, very high dev costs.

Just a note. I am getting tired of companies trying to get video game renters to pay for online play like ea and now epic studios. I just rented bullet storm and if I want to play multiplayer u have to either have the code to access it or pay $10. I refuse to buy any Gamestop that makes u pay extra for something that should be free. I get charging for maps and add one but for something that is already included on a disc is a scam. And don’t tell me the video game industry is hard up for cash because it is one of the highest grossing in the entertainment industry. Suck an egg.
I was so exited to see Viewtiful Joe avatars were added. I got on my PS3 ready to buy Viewtiful Joe, and then saw what it looked like and I changed my mind. Out of all the awesome artworks you could have used, you use a lame one. Such a shame.
I bought Xenogears brand new for PS1 years ago and never got anywhere near past disc 1. I revisited it by playing it on a PSP about 4 years ago and dedicated gaming time to try and finish it – I got to the end boss and just quit. Getting that far was a HUGE chore, not a great game imho, and also just way too much dialog. I’m glad I sold my original on ebay.
