Competitive multiplayer has always been the core of the SOCOM franchise, and SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs takes it further than ever before with modes and options that both new recruits and veterans alike will enjoy. We’ve previously covered three of our four competitive modes — Suppression, Last Defense and Uplink — and today we’re excited to unveil our fourth mode, Bomb Squad.
In Bomb Squad, Insurgents have planted a number of bombs around the map and the Spec Ops team must defuse them all before time runs out. What makes Bomb Squad special is that it features the unique Bomb Technician character, played by one member of the Spec Ops team, who is charged with defusing the explosives. He carries both an automatic shotgun and a mobile grenade launcher and is very heavily armored, making him a deadly force on his own; that said, the technician is still an open target any time he turns his back to defuse Insurgent bombs. Succeeding in Bomb Squad requires tactics, teamwork, patience and confidence to get the job done, all pillars of the overall SOCOM experience.
When can you get your hands on Bomb Squad, you ask? Well, you’ll be able to try out all four of our modes on two maps in our upcoming beta! The SOCOM 4 Multiplayer Beta will include each of the game’s competitive multiplayer modes — Suppression, Last Defense, Uplink and Bomb Squad — all playable on the maps “Port Authority” and “Assault & Battery”. And of course, you’ll be able to play each of our modes in either of their Standard or Classic variants.
The SOCOM 4 Multiplayer Beta will roll out in four separate phases. It’ll begin with a small, private group and then expand weekly from there until it’s freely available to everyone! Here’s the schedule for each of the beta’s rollout phases:
- On March 15th, a private beta goes live. We’ll be contacting eligible players soon.
- Beginning March 22nd, PlayStation Plus members will gain access to the beta.
- On March 29th, anyone with a beta code included with Killzone 3 gains entry.
- Starting April 5th, the beta will be freely downloadable to anyone via PlayStation Network.
The beta is scheduled to run until April 13th, at which point the servers will be taken down in preparation of SOCOM 4’s retail release on April 19th!

Just fix what the community members mentioned, when they tested out mp. As well, listen to the die-hard fans during the beta. Stay as far away from cod as possible-pleaseeeeeeee. Make normal mode how you want, but classic mode needs to satisfy the hardcore fans. We don’t want Confrontation all over again, and we definitely do want a slice of cod in socom-cod is the exact opposite of what makes socom good.

all it says is you get early access to the socom 4 beta which means it is correct you an earlier access than the people who don’t have kz3 ps+ or get into the private beta and which is allot it never said you would be among the first people to get into the beta

btw I haven’t bought kz3 yet but I plan to once I get the money even if I did bought it day 1 it wouldn’t be for some beta access it would have been for the game it self and you still get an earlier access than most people will

Lol @ people thinking of buying the Full Deployment bundle. Have you ever actually played a game of Socom? People scurry like rats on crack back and forth in a strafing motion at speeds only possible for bionic squirrels. You are going to get dizzy after 15 minutes trying to get a bead on players with that thing. You will have carpal tunnel inside of one day of gameplay, if you don’t break that laughable toy after an hour of frustration.

My big question is: Are the players customizable like MAG??
To everyone complaining about the KZ3 beta coming after PS+… If you bought KZ3 just for the beta, you wasted a 43 dollars. You can get 3 months for + for 17, so why would you buy a game that you don’t want?
Everyone had to know that PS+ was going to get an invite as well… Zipper even said that it wouldn’t be the only way to get an invite.
@Snake… I’m getting the Full Deployment for single player and some online play… The key is that it is a $50 discount… For anyone wanting to play Time Crisis, etc, it is a great deal.
Also, KZ3… one of the best players that I’ve played with so far was using a Sharp Shooter… just sayin.

Awesome! I am very excited about this. I placed a reserve on the full deployment pack thing with the gun and move. I am curious about a few things, however. As a long time fan of the game (playing since Socom 1), I am curious as to the roots of Socom and whether or not those roots have been implemneted into Socom 4? Does it still have the orignal Socom feel? Can you dive? Are there jungle maps (classics like biter jungle, blood lake)? Being able to blend in with foilage was one of the great ways to play that game and be stealthy. I feel like it added an additional level of involvment ino the game, by that I mean, it made you feel more in the game when you could really take advantage of natural surroundings. Confrontation really took away from that entirely.I know Abandoned is back and I am absolutely loving that decision. Is it open mic or still one at a time? Will there be verabl and phsycial taunts (dancing over dead body, etcetera)?
I would do anything for this beta. Iv had socom since Socom first released on Playstation 1

Wait, so let me get this straight; no lobbies, no lean, no pressure grenade, no grenade arc, no pistols, and you have to unlock your weapons? How is that classic? Zipper, you are ruining this game and taking away from what Socom was and became through Socom 3. I cant believe I am saying this but, Confrontation just may be better than Socom 4. If I wanted to experience everything that you have taken out and put in, I would play COD. Also, so that i do not confuse all of the haters and the people who have no critical thinking skills and want to just churp at me, I am not saying that this game is going to suck. It will probably be great and tons of hours of fun, its just not going to be anything like S1 2 and 3 and that is where I find fault. I guess that is what I get for being a VET of the series.

Relax people who are angry about your KZ3 code coming later than the PS+ members. It’s only about a week later anyway and besides, this is just a beta, not the full game! Beta access was one of the big selling points for PS+ in the first place, so of course they are going to get in the beta first. Your still getting in the beta for a good long while so what’s the problem? PS I am looking forward to this even though I have not been a Socom fan in the past but this one looks cool. i think i would be a great candidate for the private beta. Reasons for this are. i have been in every other beta for every Socom that has been released. i started playing online video games with socom 1 on my Playstation 2.
i devote long hours of game play to socom. I’m sitting here right now looking at my play station 2 socoms. socom 1, socom2, socom 3, socom combined assault, socom confrontation. i know what zipper has always offered in their games including grenade throwing ability which slant six lacked in on confrontation. your movements for the characters. your actual game play and loading times. i am a very dedicated Socom player and i think i would be great in your private beta.

My Name through socom 1 was Captn RdRose Socom 2 Was sNiPeR1sHoT socom 3 and combined assault was VeRiFiEd_SuB and sNiPeR1sHoT, i completely agree with what you are saying i don’t want to go into a classic game and have some crap like confrontation. i want my great grenade throwing, sniping, assault rifle action. i want to be able to move and shoot at the same time. i dont want to have to stop running in order to shoot my gun.I Do not want to see respawn counting towards your stats zipper you never stood for it before so why stand for it now! please do not make this game like COD. i played socom for YEARS!!!!!! i play COD for a total of 5 months and I am so completely Sick of the game its not funny.
