Dissidia duodecim prologus Final Fantasy Hits PSN 3/15 with Lightning, Aerith Unlock

5 MORE DAYS!!! That’s how long you’ll have to wait to get your hands on DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY. In case I’ve forgotten how to count, that means prologus will be available March 15th exclusively via the PlayStation Network for $2.99. The details will be posted on the official site later today. In the meanwhile, here’s a quick summary of why prologus is going to be so awesome straight from the press release:

  • Witness Lightning before the storm: Lightning, the protagonist of the popular FINAL FANTASY XIII, will be introduced to the DISSIDIA series for the first time. Players can enjoy a taste of the latest installment through a unique scenario featuring Lightning that will recount the events leading to DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY.

  • Carry-over items from DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY to DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY: Players can continue their journey and have the advantage of carrying over in-game items acquired in DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY for use in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY.
  • Unlock a new character: By purchasing DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY, players will also receive the immensely popular Aerith Gainsborough from FINAL FANTASY VII as an Assist Character in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY.

Not that I need to remind you, but DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY will be available a week later on March 22. BTW: If you can say “DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY” 20 times really fast you get the honor of pet-sitting Hachi the next time I’m on a biz trip! :-)

  • No your PSP will work and you do not need a PS3 Dissidia is only for the PSP.

  • @50

No, you do not need a PS3. You can download it on a PC via Media Go or on any PSP Model via Wi-Fi connection.

  • Sweet! Bought.

  • So the game is essentially put onto my memory stick? gotcha. Thanks for the info, can’t wait to play!

  • YEAH YEAH!!! Its gonna be sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is an ‘effin joke, right? There’s no excuse for content being purposefully left out of a game before it’s even released so you can charge for a demo to “obtain” it. Nicely done SE, always finding new ways to piss off old fans.

  • Will all the pre-order/ KHBBS/ and 3rd birthday dlc eventually be on the psn?

  • So any news on FF 1 & 2 for PSN? Europe and Japan already have them and Japan is getting FF:War of the Lions next week.

  • Sonia,

Will we ever get to see crisis core and the other classic umd games available on the psn store. How is it that the iphone has ports of the psp version of FF1 and FF2 and is getting a port of the psp version of FF tactics when these games are not available in the psn store? Also why is Kingdom Hearts BBS not available in the psn store? This is a slap in the face to Square Enix fans who have helped make these franchises so popular.

  • @ 23 actually, they did put the first dissidia on

  • Question:If I import the EU edition of Dissidia 2 (since they’re actually getting a special edition there), will the carry-over unlocks and stuff from my North American PSN Dissidia 2 Prologue download still carry over?

  • @56

They’re charging for the demo because you are actually buying 2 files. 1 file is the demo itself and the 2nd file is the Aeris DLC.

So, essentially, you’re paying for the DLC, but getting the demo in the same package.

  • What happened with kingdom hearts can someone please tell me when they are making the 3rd?

  • I’m so happy, definitely buying the game.

  • Argh. Why does the PSP got to be so wonky to use for long periods of play!!!!!!!! This is so frustrating. I can’t go from playing glorious PS3 titles to playing this stuff anymore but I want this game soooo bad.

Can we please see a PSN/PS3 only version of Dissidia please?
That was we can play it on our PS3 and play online using the PSN and the game can have slightly better graphics and controls. I honestly don’t care to have Uncharted or Final Fantasy XIII graphics in it, I just want to play it in HD on PS3. :(

  • @65

    Dissidia = PSP Franchise

This will remain the same until they decide to make another Dissidia on a different platform. But given the last interview from Nomura about the franchise’s future, that’s not going to be anytime soon.

Just learn to cope with the PSP’s controls. Either that or play on a PSP Go (if it comes out on PSN) with a Dual Shock 3 Controller.

  • I understand we’re paying for the extra content, but it’d be nice if we could get a demo for free without the extra content. It feels like nickel-and-diming again.

  • Thanks to Sonia’s lovely reply on the first page, it seems like everything in Prologus i.e. all the rewards for the Accomplishments/Missions are not in the full game. That is an interesting twist.

  • I’m really excited for this game but does it hurt to ask to put another brawler character in the game? I know Tifa is there but what about Zell?! And why are some of the new enemies former Cosmos allies? Wouldn’t it have been better just to add new villains from other final fantasy games like Seifer from ff8?

  • @61, No. different region. i got the JP version of Dissidia 012 (superior voice acting, and don’t feel like waiting to play) my US data doesn’t go through.
@68 thats because they are made for Prologus. all you get are Chocobo Colognes. the first one is clearing the Prologue episode and after that its just doing the Arcade mode with everyone. Easy and Hard. though hard goes by every 5-10 cleared fights with each character then one for getting that far with all of the characters. its really simple. in all honesty, it is a demo. its a premium demo. because after the Prologue episode, its just Arcade mode. nothing else.

  • who cares about aerith she is a terrible character.

  • Just to clarify to some folks, as was done earlier, this isn’t simply a demo. It’s a literal prologue to the story, think in terms of Case Zero for Dead Rising 2 (odd example for the PSN blog I know, but it’s the best parallel I can think of), it’s a means of getting in on the action, playing around with the new tools at an even lower price while still getting your feet wet in the story. In addition to that there’s an arcade mode much like the original Dissidia’s free demo, so overall for an exclusive assist (a powerful one at that if anyone’s cared to look at Japanese Prologus footage) and this experience, 2.99 is a fairly great deal, especially with the price of the game having dropped ten bucks.

But then, perhaps that’s just me. Anyhow, carry on~

  • Curses, foiled by a lack of reading comprehension. I wish there was an edit button now. >_>

  • wait, so this is just add on content, and not a full game?

  • Finally =D This one I’ll get for sure.
A demo + prologue + dlc, this is what I call a good idea. =)

““DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY” 20 times really fast you get the honor of pet-sitting Hachi the next time I’m on a biz trip! :-)”
    I loved it XD

  • @69

So, what you’re saying is that you get a Chocobo Cologne item for every last one of those accomplishments/missions? That’s a lot of Colognes.

  • the full game will be available for download from PSN when the game releases?

  • @75

It is assumed that it will. Dissidia 012 released on PSN in Japan on Day 1, but we don’t have any official confirmation from PlayStation US.

  • I miss my Dissidia:Final Fantasy Game/Save and PSP.Was stolen by some jerk-scum bag.Over 220 hours…All gone forever
I can’t go back to PSP…Can’t play catch up then play over the same game with already enough PS3 games to take care of.

    My Sony PSP Series 1000//Dec.15 2006-June 21st 2010. :(

  • sonia the japanese store calls it a demo and in which it is priced it isnt just additional content… sure u unlock stuff but only 1 or 2 things so it is still considered a demo.

either way yay cant wait to play it

  • Can you tell me if we are getting the legacy edition here in the US?

  • Finally!

Also, while Prologus acts like a demo, you can consider it as a full game in itself.

Also, it includes a DLC bundles with it which is the Aerith assist character.

  • @g-regulate Do you even know what the Playstation Store is? It’s hard to even take your question seriously.

  • This is soooo exciting!! i never thught this content would become available in America, that’s why i downloaded the japanese version, and i can tell you it’s superb! Lightning is unstoppable! ^^ Don’t miss this one guys! Besides, we’re getting Aerith!! ^____^

  • Thanks for the info, Sonia!

Also: I’m sorry you had to type that nonsense terminology so many times. Tell your peeps “Dissidia II” would’ve worked just fine. :D

  • I will be picking this up the moment it comes out. I skimmed through the comments and I have noticed nobody requested or asked. Since you’re head of public relations, any chance you can shoot a question to the rest of the square enix team on getting Final Fantasy Crisis Core onto the Playstation Store. Thanks Sonia!

  • i just ask myself when is bestbuy gonna be doing pre order’s for this game!! i want squall KH DLC and i dont like KH!

  • If your one of the people who won’t buy prologus, but will buy Aerith’s DLC if they put it up on PSN, your remedial. Just buy prologus so you can have Aerith and play the game a week in advance.

If your one of the people who want to buy Cloud and/or Tifa’s alternate’s if they put them up on PSN, but don’t want to pre-order from GameStop or Amazon, your remedial. Pre-order from one, get one of the alternate’s for free and worry about how your going to get the other later.

Not everyone is out to get you. I bet most of the people complaining paid Activision $15 a pop, for MW2 and Black Ops map packs.

  • As horrible as the story will probably be, the gameplay looks pretty good. More than two fighters at once? Sounds great.

  • Cool, will the data of the release of Prologus be the same also in Europe? Will Prologus remain on the Playstation Store after the release of the full game?

  • @ Sonia – Put Kingdom Hearts out as a PSN digital DL for the PSP go and later the NGP owners! I have still not purchased this game since it did not come out digitally.

  • Man i wish it was the 15th already!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is Duodecim going to see a simultaneous release on PSN with the UMD? I suppose the better question is if Duodecim is going to be released on PSN at all…

  • The main theme for this game gives me eargasm!

  • Just sayin…. I just got an account today…. just for this content… I’m so stoked I’m not sure I can survive at work today ^w^

  • Okay, am I the only one who’s noticing? It’s almost noon, and this prologue is still nowhere to be found on the PSN

  • @HB_Sudaku I am also wondering were this game is. I have been scouring news, Square’s sight and have come up blank. where is this game?

  • @HB_Sudaku & Oleroc: PSN usually updates pretty late in the day. It’ll probably be up in a 4 or 5 hours.

  • it is past afternoon and im still waiting for the game to be on the PSN

  • i so excited for this games releise on the PSN
