Free Realms hits PSN today with Voice Chat, Trophies

Today, as a PS3 gamer, you should ask yourself only one question: where can I race a demolition derby car against my friends, build a fun house for my friends to come play in, battle monsters as a stealthy ninja, own a parrot and talk like a pirate, raise a dragon pet that poops hot coals, and ride a rainbow unicorn off into the sunset?

Starting today, the answer is Free Realms! That’s right, Sony Online Entertainment’s popular online virtual world makes its way to the PlayStation Network today and you can all play it for FREE. Free Realms is the first casual, free-to-play MMO ever to be offered on the PlayStation Network and definitely has something for everyone to play, adventure and experience.

Players can take on endless amounts of roles including ninjas, warriors, or wizards, while participating in a variety of activities such as adventuring for treasure, playing a soccer game, decorating their player house, or even entering a demolition derby! If you are seeking a totally different challenge, you can participate in minigames and quests that include decorating your player house, constructing a maze, or exploring the terrain on the back of a cool T-Rex Ride.

Much like the PC and MAC versions, Free Realms on the PS3 features the fun minigames, robust player housing system, adventure, and exploration that millions of gamers have come to love. The PS3 version adopts the console’s interactive capabilities: You can now use voice chat to communicate with your friends at the coolest dance parties and earn Trophies in combat instances or for completing collections. Be on the lookout for hidden Trophies while you’re at it!

  • well Iplayed it maybe for an hour or 2 and I got bored with it glad I didn’t waist money on it

  • anyone know y this game wont work??

  • @yungshep
I completely agree with you, I wouldn’t care if the game was free or not, but the fact that it is even an option is incredible and shouldn’t be taken for granted. Also, yes, $35.00 for a lifetime membership is something to tank for, not complain about, but the whole cross game chat is optional (if you go into settings, you can turn it off), and the fact that PS3 is now the only console with not only a good and free MMO, but free internet for that free MMO! The one thing I did not like though is how when the game became availible, the servers wern’t working, and for some, still arn’t. I would think testing and making sure the servers would support soo many people before releasing the game would have been more acceptable.

Sony Online Entertainment is having technical difficulties with their game servers, and so alot of people couldnt get on, yet the more time that goes by, the more people are going on, so obviously, SOE is working on it. Also, I deleted the game from my PS3, the redownloaded and reinstalled it, then it worked perfectly :)

  • You have re download it an reinstall it . worked for me

  • I’ve re downloaded it and installed 3 times now, still doesn’t work.

  • The subscription is a ripoff as you only get one Character unlike the paid subscription on the PC. Also you can’t play with another account on your ps3 with the subscription.

Every thin good cost real money 5.50 for a pet? Come on Sony give us a break already.

I was even told by sony support I could have upto three characters if you subscribe and pay for a subscription not true now my daughter can’t play as its on my account and I’m sure as hell not buying two subscriptions.

Ripoff. Great game but sony is turning it into a bad game,

  • I have also heard users still have to pay real money on top of the subscription. I am not even going to download this.

  • i was wonderin if u can play with people on the pc too?

  • I really wish it would support cross-platform play. I have a lot of cool stuff on the PC version I would have liked to carry over. Oh well.

  • I really wish the freakin’ game would work.

  • I might give this a go.

How do I login to free realms on the ps3? I bought a lifetime membership on the PC version and want to use it on the ps3 how do I do that?

  • Oh I guess you cant do this now after reading page 8. One of the reasons I did buy the lifetime though on the PC version was it was going to be on the PS3. Come on guys get it together you cant keep doing things like this to your customers like you have done in the past (SOE SWG NGE etc etc) Give us a option atleast to transfer our accounts!

  • im level 4 ninja but then it said u have to pay to continue so im pretty disapointed that they brought member ship to the PS3, like come on

  • just tried to find this on PSN through playstaion store from Australia but no joy.. is Free Realms available in oz?

  • Stephen

Why is there membership for Free Realms on the ps3. I personally think you should take the level 4 limit off because that is unfair for a lot of people, make it actually free to play because i love mmo games but the ps3 shouldnt have membership games, those type of games should stay on the pc. A lot of people will agree with me on this so i am very disapointed.

  • I still cant get in.

  • how do you play with friends on here though? i tried meeting up with a friend at the highroad junction but we couldnt see each other, their a way to meet up? :P

  • Awesome i played this game on the pc , its great news that this is coming to the playstation store.
Good Work guys im sure there are loads of players willing to pay to play this mmo.

Im that exited i might just move to america just so that i can access it becuase sadly im in Europe.

Any idea when the fix for Uk/Europe is avaliable????

    Thanks

  • I downloaded the game on my US account after that I played it on my EU account, but I can;t become member if the Europe version comes out can I become member with that character?

  • Me and my friend discovered this game yesterday. Is there anyway that I can play this game on a Mac while my friend plays this on the PlayStation Network and we can play together. Or are they two separate servers?

  • My character is at level 20 in one of the classes. Now I have stopped earning XP or gaining levels for that class. I am a member! Why can’t I go any higher than level 20?? Why should I be a member if my character can’t progress anymore?

  • ^Herzenslied
Because 20 is the level cap, theyll probably raise it eventually but for now thats it…you should appreciate it too because non-members can only go to level 4 in a class.
