I bet some of you were wondering why we put a “select a language” option at the top of the Blog when we launched our recent redesign. Today I’m pleased to announce that the PlayStation.Blog is now extending service to a new region – Latin America. Over the past few years, PlayStation has increased its presence in Central and South America, and beginning today, you’ll have the news source to go along with it: PlayStation.Blog en Español.
As with this site, PSBeE (I think we’ll have to work on a better acronym ^_^) will be your go-to source for all things PlayStation from around Latin America, including the latest news, interviews, event info, and more. Additionally, as much of the content will be similar across the sites, those of you in the US and Canada who are more comfortable reading and interacting in Spanish should feel welcome to visit this new blog. Your existing login will work just fine.

We wanted to give you a look at the two SOCOM 4 multiplayer maps that haven’t really been seen outside of Zipper Interactive yet – Von Heine Express and Cesspool!
Von Heine Express was actually one of the last MP maps we finished; the idea behind it was to create an environment that captured the spirit of our classic SOCOM II map, Fox Hunt, but was built on the themes of SOCOM 4 and made for great sniping scenarios. Set on the coast of Southeast Asia in a makeshift military base that comes complete abandoned train cars, Von Heine Express is a favorite here at Zipper and has only been seen publicly once – at PAX East 2011 where it was part of that event’s SOCOM 4 Championship Tournament. Check out the video below for a flythrough!
The SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs testing pool is about to get even bigger! Starting tomorrow, at 12:00am Pacific, the SOCOM 4 voucher codes that were included as giveaways with Killzone 3 (and at our PAX East 2011 booth) become active. This new influx of players will join the existing crowd of previously introduced PlayStation Plus and Private beta testers, and will have all the same privileges as the one-week and two-week vets.
If you didn’t receive an early access voucher or don’t have a PlayStation Plus account, don’t fret! Starting April 5th, the all-access beta will be openly available for download through the PlayStation Store. While the beta download will be removed from the store with the April 12th PlayStation Store publish, SOCOM 4 Beta servers will be up and running until April 13th.

We’re excited to announce Novus Prime: Escalation, our biggest expansion yet for Novus Prime in PlayStation Home, is going live on March 31 with tons of new content. The Hellfire Games team has been working on Escalation for quite some time, and we can’t wait to see it go live! Until then, I’d like to give you a sneak peek at what to expect in Novus Prime: Escalation.
Multiplayer Sci-Fi Action, Escalated
At its core, Novus Prime is a free-to-play multiplayer space combat shooter that can be played cooperatively or solo.
Last time I outlined all the reasons you should be getting The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, but I really want to illustrate A) just how much this game has to offer, B) why it’s right for you (assuming you haven’t stumbled onto this blog from a chain-letter or suspicious link) and C) what happens when you cross that 4-coffee-a-day threshold. I therefore present to you a decision-making aid/hopefully agreeable distraction from your work day. Enjoy.
Trails in the Sky will release on both PSN and UMD on March 29th for $29.99. The UMD version of the game comes in both a Standard and Limited Edition package. The LE will contain a soundtrack CD, a 13-inch by 19.5-inch poster and a Bracer Guild replica metal badge for the suggested retail price of $39.99.

We’re happy to present a live action short that takes place before the events of the Killzone games. Some of you may have read the back story on Killzone.com and found out about the origins of the Helghast, the start of the war, etc. We’ve been looking for ways to add a personal touch to this back story. We found a team that was able to transform it into a live action short, which tells the story of two friends from different backgrounds, who are separated and become increasingly alienated from one another.
In the short, we listen in on video communications between the two friends, one on Vekta and one recently exiled to Helghan.
We hope you enjoy this small glimpse into what life was like before the war started in Killzone!
