Over the last six months we’ve taken Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One to London, San Francisco, Seattle and Austin. Everywhere we go, people love playing in the Ratchet & Clank universe with three of their friends. The cooperative gameplay, combined with a dash of competition, has really resonated with players, and we’re eager for folks to get their hands on it next week.

We’re super excited that Swarm is finally about to be released on PlayStation Network. The genesis of the original idea for the game stretches all the way back to 2006, shortly after we started Hothead. There was an indie video game developer contest we wanted to enter, so we brainstormed a ton of ideas on what to submit. Dr. Mike Hayward, Hothead’s resident Ph.D., brought forward a concept based on his doctoral research in artificial life. He called it Swarm and it had plenty of science cred. We thought this was our contest winner, so we came up with a cute adorable character to go with his tech, the swarmite, and got to work on a prototype.
In the end we did very well in that contest, placing in the final four, winning the people’s choice vote, and garnering $300,000 in winnings.

As any fan knows, the Ghostbusters universe features lots of cool characters and inter-dimensional lore. However, with Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, we still wanted to add something that would lure new people to the world of Ghostbusters and also excite the veteran fans.
In Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, the story begins 4000 years ago with a strange cult mourning the death of Dumazu, an ancient demon of death and destruction. Fast forward to 1989, when museum curator Janosz Poha is sent to a mental institution following the events in Ghostbusters 2. There he meets Ismael, the self-proclaimed last member of the cult of Dumazu. Ismael seeks a Shard of the Relic of Nilhe, a mystic artifact that possesses the power to bring Dumazu the Destroyer back to life, and he tasks Janosz with obtaining it. Janosz’s reward: Dana Barrett.
With DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY out this week, I thought I’d share some videos that show the various EX Burst attacks.
What is an EX Burst? EX Burst is equivalent of a super move in a game like Street Fighter. Each character has a special move which you’ll recognize from their original game. During the EX burst, you’ll have to input several button cues but each is customized for each unique character. For example, Tifa’s EX Burst features the same slot reels for her Limit Break in Final Fantasy VII. For Tidus, you’d have to align the cursor in the target zone like his Overdrive attack in Final Fantasy X. For Squall, you’ll have to pull the trigger just like in Final Fantasy XIII. The more successful you are with the button cues, the more devastating the attack.
Our first-party domination continues with PlayStation Move Heroes dropping this week. When six of PlayStation’s iconic heroes team up to take on evil, the fanboy in me can get into a wired up tizzy. Especially when Ratchet and Jak are on the box cover with a giant PlayStation Move sticker to sweeten up the deal.
A raider of tombs, receives her own remastering in high definition on Blu-Ray this week with Tomb Raider Legends and Tomb Raider Anniversary dawn a polygonal refresh. Toss in a ton of extras and Tomb Raider Underworld, and you’ve got yourself a PlayStation collection ripe with content.
The PlayStation Network brings a wealth of titles and demos as well, continuing the trend each and every week of mammoth releases. This week’s The Drop promises to entice and please your gaming taste-buds.
