Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios: A Taste of What’s to Come

It’s been a busy 2011 already for us here at Sony Computer Entertainment! We’ve seen the launch of LittleBigPlanet 2, MLB 11 The Show, Killzone 3, PlayStation Move Heroes, and many more—and we’re just getting started. Tomorrow sees the release of Patapon 3 and April 19th marks the North American launch of SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs. We have more heavy hitters coming throughout the year and I’m excited to announce that this week you’ll be seeing new information popping up on the PlayStation.Blog and through the gaming media offering sneak peeks at some of our biggest titles launching in 2011.

As a preview to our biggest industry conference—E3—we’re conducting a media tour this week featuring early looks at some of this year’s most-anticipated PlayStation 3 titles: inFAMOUS 2, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, Resistance 3, Twisted Metal, and UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception. We’re inviting several of our media partners to get a firsthand look at new content and information from each of the titles, and we’ll be sharing what we show them on the PlayStation.Blog starting tonight and throughout the next week.

In fiscal year 2011 alone, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios brought you 50 full game releases across three PlayStation platforms. Our close-knit community of development studios and partners is one of our most valuable assets in developing innovative gameplay that pushes the industry forward.

For example, both Guerilla Games, the team behind the Killzone franchise, and Zipper Interactive, the creators of SOCOM, worked closely together to develop the new PlayStation Move sharp shooter attachment. And with PlayStation 3 being the only gaming console readily capable for high-definition stereoscopic 3D, we’re continuing to see our developers advancing 3D gameplay. This week on the tour, Insomniac Games North Carolina studio will showcase a 3D CG-animated gameplay experience with the first hands-on of Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One in 3D. Insomniac Games also recently announced 3D and PlayStation Move support for Resistance 3, and Naughty Dog has blown people away with the fire effects they’ve shown off in their first single-player 3D reveal. And there’s much more to come!

As we head into this week of activity, we just want to thank you for your support throughout the first part of this year and we look forward to giving you many more great games throughout 2011. We always love hearing from our community, so tell us in the comments what PlayStation games you’re most anticipating in the coming months!

  • How about an RPG for a change? I’d love to see some of that AAA grunt applied to something that doesn’t have guns for once (though it would probably be an FPS-RPG given the state of the industry). Where’s Wild Arms PS3? A LEGEND OF DRAGOON remake/ sequel/ whatever? It seems that every game on consoles these days is trying to outbid the AAAness of the other. We’re almost at a saturation point where consumers (like me) just don’t care anymore.

  • Awesome logos lol, im getting all of them but im mostly looking forward to uncharted 3

  • Sweet!

  • i only see here platformers and shooters!
what happened to the other genres? :0

  • will we be seeing any new trailers for these games this week?

  • I’m not going to lie. An epic RPG would be great and refreshing.

  • resistance is the reason I’m getting 2dtv in july

  • meant 3dtv

  • Hm. Not even a single game mentioned in that post appeals to me.

Hey Sony, lay off the dudebro mentality a bit, would you?

As they say, variety is the spice of life.

  • PS3 really needs a good exclusive JRPG, other than that every other genre is pretty much covered :(

  • Well,Guns, Cars, Balls.I like them.

If you want some JRPG,get WKC2,it’s good,I’ve played.

  • All the best PS3 exclusives right here… Picking up every one but R&C!

  • I’m looking forward to all these titles but I think Infamous 2 get the crown

  • You probably won’t get much JRPG in E3,the same as not so much FPS/TPS in TGS.

    Yeah,actually I want TEAM ICO Collection and TLG,don’t delay,Okay?

    Thank you ,SCE.

  • Awesome

  • Looking Forward To The Last Guardian The Most, But On This List Infamous & Twisted Metal

  • Yeah I’d love a great RPG, Japanese or Western, doesn’t matter. Sony needs to acquire Level 5 and start cracking the whip at them to churn out some amazing JRPGs to push the PS3. Hopefully Square Enix doesn’t betray the remaining fans by making Versus go multi-plat, I can tell you right now if that happens it won’t be pretty.. Versus is looking amazing and making it go multi-plat and butchering it’s quality to make it equal will NOT bode well.

  • After playing All 4 One at an event, I am totally convinced about that game. The co-op is unique and actually fun. Doesn’t feel forced.

  • Also. What happened to the ICO Shadow Collection??

  • I agree with Megamixer.

Also Sindred is right. You guys said the collection would be Spring 2011. Well spring is almost over as we move into summer. Where is it?

  • I find it amusing that the title says Worldwide Studios, but all I see are titles from U.S. studios (save for one quick mention of Patapon 3). And this is just days after it was announced that SCEA was the only SCE branch not publishing White Knight Chronicles 2. I’m glad D3 stepped up. I know shooters are all the rage in the U.S., but SCEA really needs to keep the other genres warm too, ya know.

@perrandy even the platformers are mainly shooters. >_<

  • The PSP has a ton of games I’d like to be able to play without having to get a PSP. Why can’t PSP games be downloaded and played on the PS3? I think Sony would make a much larger profit if we were able to play PSP games on the PS3.

  • i’m really excited for infamous 2 and resistance 3…but i do agree with prior comments here. any updates on any RPG’s?

although it’s not longer a PS3 exclusive, i’d really like to hear more about Dark Souls…i’m really hoping for Move support in that game! mmmm, yea…

  • These all look good. I’m curious, what happened to The Last Guardian. Is that not a 2011 game?

  • 2011 – A great year for gamers indeed. And we owe a “Thank You” to SCE for contributing a HUGE part in making this year as epic as it has turned out to be.

I am really looking forward to a lot more this year. AAAND I can not wait for E3!

My only problem now is this: inFAMOUS 2 and E3 2011 debut at the same time! *Gaming overload – Head Explodes*

Thanks for a great year guys! If I wasn’t so broke and having to pinch pennies I would be even more excited! =p

  • Also, why does SE and Sony hate the Go?

I have yet to see FF1 and Crisis Core become downloadable. Way to screw over your adopters of your “innovative” ideas, or people who just do not want to carry discs everywhere.

  • I am psyched for Uncharted 3. And I will probably pick up Resistance 3, I loved first 2 games.

Yes we will have ICO collection and and The Last Guardian, but please give us more titles like Heavy Rain or other non existing games that makes users think not just point and shoot.

I think developers should stop cloning COD I am tired of it.

Keep up good work Sony, your lineup looks awesome for 2011.

Also when are we getting Motorstorm Apocalypse

  • You forgot about Motorstorm: Apocalypse

  • Good lineup, but definitely missing (J)RPGs and original IPs.

Can’t wait to pick up WKC2 though. Hopefully, it comes out soon. Haven’t played a JRPG on a console for a while.

  • Still waiting on Lego star wars 3 the clone wars for psp go why was it removed from the update last week?

  • Bleach Soul Ignition, Batman Arkam City, and Final Fantasy versus XII are the only titles Im looking forward to this year and the begging of 2012 i’ll wait for Resistance 3, Infamous 2, and Uncharted 3 review scores before getting hyped for them cause after Killzone 3 quick sequels like Uncharted 3 and Infamous 2 may not be good they may lack in some areas at least if I wait for their reviews I wont waste money if they turn out to be crap

  • I want a new God Of War! :(

  • Ahh yeeee!

  • *for the 100th time*

You know what would be good Sony? if users could show thier support for SCEA’s excelllent titles with avatars for those games available for purchase on the store.

…dont take this too badly, but random capcom avatars from nintendo games dont really make the cut……….

  • i think that infamous 2 will be the best of all in the previews

  • Great games coming! I would also like to see some sony RPG’s :D (or jrpg)
Keep it up sony! My family and me enjoy your games!

  • And I won’t be playing any of them sadly… My PS3 died last month, and no money to get a new one. Figures it breaks during the BEST year for PS3 games.

  • Will we get Last Guardian this year?

Ico/Shadow got pushed back until at least December, which worries me that with all the delays means another push back for LG.

Please, let us know if it will still be released this year.

    Thanks

  • not the best year so far for ps3 exclusives, killzone3 and pixeljunk shooter2 were both very disappointing. looking forward to journey, resistance3, uncharted3 and infamous2.

  • give me an rpg :(

  • I can’t wait for Uncharted 3, inFamous 2 & Twisted Metal!

  • Already have Killzone 3 and LBP 2. Looking forward to Socom 4, Patapon 3 in the near future, and all the games mentioned above along with NGP for the distant future (especially UC3)

  • @36 White Knight chronicles is coming soon and is sony/level 5 owned (well at least in Japan/Europe lol)

But i agree that Sony need to go to town a huge in-house RPG project that gets the same kind of finance as a Uncharted or Killzone game.

…actually, sony probably need TWO major RPG projects. a high concept jrpg ‘Final Fantasy killer’ (WNC does not come anywhere near close enough) and a expansive western developed ‘Fable/Mass Effect/Fallout killer’ :)

  • @DarkRecoil
“You know what would be good Sony? if users could show thier support for SCEA’s excelllent titles with avatars for those games available for purchase on the store.”

You show your support by buying and playing the games. Buying advertisements is the kind of support Sony should be giving their games, not having users pay to advertise for them.

  • I guess the gaming industry has run out of ideas. Playing the same games over and over again is boring.

  • Not only does Sony need an Exclusive RPG they need to ADVERTISE! If you walk up to an Xbox owner and say hey do you know the game inFAMOUS? Most would probably say, “No. Why?” or ” Oh yea I heard about that game, its the dude with the lightning I think…” If you walked up to a PS3 owner and say have you heard of Halo, they would know the game and give you some kind of interesting response to it…

  • Cant wait. saving my money for all of them

  • @ 46. Well they HAVE an exclusive (J)RPG – WKC 2 – but their so busy with bromance AAA $hit that they passed off the publishing and advertising to another publisher. Real slick, Sony. Real slick. WKC 2 is an improvement in every way over the original, I hope it does well just to rub spit in the eye of the SCEA executives.

  • Really looking forward to:
    Portal 2
    Catherine
    Uncharted 3

And praying for a Persona 5 announcement at E3
    :)
