Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios: A Taste of What’s to Come

It’s been a busy 2011 already for us here at Sony Computer Entertainment! We’ve seen the launch of LittleBigPlanet 2, MLB 11 The Show, Killzone 3, PlayStation Move Heroes, and many more—and we’re just getting started. Tomorrow sees the release of Patapon 3 and April 19th marks the North American launch of SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs. We have more heavy hitters coming throughout the year and I’m excited to announce that this week you’ll be seeing new information popping up on the PlayStation.Blog and through the gaming media offering sneak peeks at some of our biggest titles launching in 2011.

As a preview to our biggest industry conference—E3—we’re conducting a media tour this week featuring early looks at some of this year’s most-anticipated PlayStation 3 titles: inFAMOUS 2, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, Resistance 3, Twisted Metal, and UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception. We’re inviting several of our media partners to get a firsthand look at new content and information from each of the titles, and we’ll be sharing what we show them on the PlayStation.Blog starting tonight and throughout the next week.

In fiscal year 2011 alone, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios brought you 50 full game releases across three PlayStation platforms. Our close-knit community of development studios and partners is one of our most valuable assets in developing innovative gameplay that pushes the industry forward.

For example, both Guerilla Games, the team behind the Killzone franchise, and Zipper Interactive, the creators of SOCOM, worked closely together to develop the new PlayStation Move sharp shooter attachment. And with PlayStation 3 being the only gaming console readily capable for high-definition stereoscopic 3D, we’re continuing to see our developers advancing 3D gameplay. This week on the tour, Insomniac Games North Carolina studio will showcase a 3D CG-animated gameplay experience with the first hands-on of Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One in 3D. Insomniac Games also recently announced 3D and PlayStation Move support for Resistance 3, and Naughty Dog has blown people away with the fire effects they’ve shown off in their first single-player 3D reveal. And there’s much more to come!

As we head into this week of activity, we just want to thank you for your support throughout the first part of this year and we look forward to giving you many more great games throughout 2011. We always love hearing from our community, so tell us in the comments what PlayStation games you’re most anticipating in the coming months!

  • I really hope that at this E3 Sony does not have unannounced games on montage. Please get rid of the montage, specially showing new games. It would be much better if you announce every game with a trailer and at the end of the conference have a montage of every game that was announce or upcoming.

You have been doing montages for at least two years and that sucks! I hate to see them and see games I haven’t heard for 0.5 seconds instead of properly showing them.

  • What happen to Motorstorm Apocalypse???????

  • Sequels, sequels, sequels. How about some new IP?

  • are you guys forgetting about The Last Guardian?
its an upcoming RPG game exclusive to ps3

  • so many awesome games!!!!! thank you SONY!

  • Mostly looking forward to Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3 this year! :D

  • Im getting most of the games in this article, but please give us some Nariko, please bring HEAVENLY SWORD back to us, the game was amazing, little short but excellent game, i can see a big announcement on E3 about HS2, and the studio behind would be nice if it was Santa Monica Studios, and know you SONY can make this happen, looking forward to all the exclusives this year, and SONY keep up with the good work.

  • 2011 best year yet!!

  • @ 17 (Schobeleth)

I couldn’t agree more. I think Nintendo has taken Level 5 hostage, forcing them to churn out one Professor Layton after another. Please Sony, rescue them and force them to do your bidding instead – Dark Cloud 3 anyone ?!!

Other than the lack of RPG’s however, it is an exciting time to be a gamer.

  • For those people who don’t know GO BUY YAKUZA 4!
Whole new Genre which was released last month which is a whole new Genre which u guys r missing out Exclusively for the PS3!

  • Pretty much buying them all. Long Live Playstation!

  • Yeah, they’re all pretty much SOLD!!! 8)

  • Where are the RPGs?

You guys like money don’t you?

Square-Enix has shown that AAA RPG’s can rake in the cash, and it’s a nearly untapped market. Unlike shooters and platformers which are completely saturated.

  • Looks good guys, keep it up.

  • Hmm. Definitely Uncharted 3. Maybe Resistance 3 & Twisted Metal. I just want Getaway 3!

  • One of these things just doesn’t belong here, 1 of these games just isn’t the same:
    Killzone 3
    LBP2
    Playstaion Move Heroes
    MLB 2011 The Show

Lack of Last Guardian mention to me means it won’t be under anybody’s Christmas tree this year.

Agree with the (J)RPG clamoring. I’m currently halfway through Star Ocean and remembering how fun these games can be. (And left wondering what the heck did they do FF13). The drop-off in RPGs from the PS2 to PS3 is staggering. The fact that Sony hasn’t released Legend of Dragoon stateside on PSN yet is also baffling. Yes the platforming duos of the PS2 may be famous, but partly because they were in multiple games. The many good PS2 RPGs don’t have that luxury, but there were still many good ones. The PS3 RPG drought is making me miss the Dreamcast days.

  • Can’t wait for Uncharted 3 and Portal 2.

  • You listed the next three games I’m getting in a row! Infamous 2, Resistance 3, and Uncharted 3! CANT WAIT!

  • Oh yeah, and for those clamoring for an RPG, sorry there are no classic style rpg’s up there, but Infamous 2 will have RPG elements with the whole power up your powers further aspect, just a thought.

  • If you don’t have a PS3 yet…you’re not gaming. I’m saying that and I’m not even a PS fanboy. How the heck can you pass up Resistance 3, Infamous 2, Twisted Metal, and most importantly UNCHARTED 3!??!!??!?!

Just like 2009, PS3 is without a doubt the top console and a must-own one this year.

  • Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but isn’t the Xbox 360 capable of Stereoscopic 3D? Call of Duty: Black Ops, Crysis 2 and the 2K Sports Tennis game are all in 3D. So…. What’s the difference with the PlayStation 3? If you’re gonna bark about it, back it up ya know? Its great and all, but the competition has it as well. Why do I want 3D on the PlayStation 3 instead of the Xbox 360 that $100 less. Its a legitimate and valid question worth an answer. To avoid it well…. So?

  • uncharted 3 vaya que obra maestra ya quiero que llegue noviembre

  • If SCEA continues its abysmal policy of alienating consumers what their future is will be very different from what they portray here. Take the hint: treating those you keep you in business as a commodity to be used, abused & tossed in the trash will lead you only one place, namely bankruptcy.

  • Looking forward to all of these. I love Action Adventure games and I’ve never gotten into Twisted Metal.

  • PLEASE, HOW DO I GET MY RANKINGS IN FIGHT NIGHT 4?

  • I wonder what the chances are we’ll see syhonfilter 5 or midevil 3 for playstation 3 because i was hoping the their worldwide studios had plans to work on them?
