Latest Update for PSN/Qriocity Services

610 0

We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.

We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.

  • i must admit i want to see whats in store for us psn folk but im not asking for anything extra :/

  • @fuzzyclutter

Glade you see that as well. forgot about the matrix aspect LOL other then that yea anonymous latest video gave it away and to think how they said it was if there saving everyone. the fact is if you think about it. there only doing it for themself and others that followed the same actions in jailbreaking there PS3 the demands are a little to much i say take out the returning the PS3 back to its original features and another one i cant remember and only keep the getting the IP address of people that went on the site out of harms way other then that i would go with that demand if i did something like that

  • All the people on here blaming ‘Anonymous’, as if Anonymous was some kind of organized collective of elite hackers, are endlessly amusing in their blind ignorance.
For one thing, the few members of Anonymous who could be bothered, and had the wherewithal, to DDOS Sony have moved on to other things… perhaps they’re hassling Habbo again, or protesting some wacky, scam cult. Whatever, and whomever, brought down PSN this time did a job far more impressive than anything a bunch of bored script kiddies could muster.
Hey, I enjoy playing online as much as anyone but I can’t help a few chuckles at what’s happened here. Especially if it’s revenge for the whole OtherOS debacle. Something the blinkered Sony fanboys will never admit to, but which is blindingly obvious to everyone else, is this: Sony had it coming. :)

  • I want to thank SCEA, despite the negativity shown within and without, for doing their utmost to bringing back service to it’s “loyal” customers.

Take your time. I know we will have a better and more secure system when things are up and running again.

And for those who are responsible for this minor inconvenience, your time will come. We know you didn’t do this for the PSN Community. You did it to make yourselves look powerful and smart. Certainly you wanted appreciation from the Community, and obviously some have shown it to you. But in the end, you inconvenienced millions of users, perhaps costing millions of dollars, yet you haven’t proven anything to me other than that you are nothing more that a selfish, power hungry disorganized group of individuals who do not care for anyone but yourselves. Very much like any abuser you have only done this for your own self-gratification.

  • Just imagine, some unknowing person buying a PSP Go, they cant wait to get it home and download some games… just to find out they just bought a $160 paper weight

  • I agree with Samanosuke_JJ, take you time Sony, i am happy that you are working to upgrade the security of the PSN. I hope there is something in it for us though, like a couple of dollars on the PS Store or something….

  • What does this mean for all of use who can’t access our NetFlix Instant Queue?

  • All of US. Derp derp.

  • @Hooligantuan: Keep selecting “Cancel” whenever the PSN sign-in prompt comes up in the Netflix application. After a few times, it should still work, despite PSN being down.

  • well i think is better if they add a more secure system since it has been having problems as of late so i completly understand and i personally dont have a problem waiting but i hope this gets back online soon

  • I am so sad i bought the Socom in my birthday month i activate the code i got on the book i could not even get that and now i am lost for words but i aint angry just disappointed

  • in the mean time..
Create a in-game simplified and fast XMB,Cross game voice chat, auto read message,PS Home avatar showing on profiles..damn u need to work!

  • Thank you for your support Sony, I understand that rebuilding and protecting the system is a difficult task and a top priority… We as a community should also try and support Sony as much as we can. We should help support against hackers, no matter how you look at it if we defend hackers we will end up losing PSN…

Btw Mortal Kombat 9 is awesome :D

  • this is bad man im in uk and its the same here all we get though is a clone of you guys post so at least u guys get info first all we get is the psn is down blah blah blah sony should be held accountable for this also they brought this on themselves over the way the handle hackers im sure if u offer the hackers free porn and jelly babies they would work for u guys to point out how it was done and then close it down for good by offering us a free service its up to u guys to have a back up server system that stays off until its needed NASA has the same kind of system to protect its data and photos from being lost the moment the main server shows signs of failing the backup system turns on and then takes over the job of the systems affected simples its not our fault that we dont pay a sub u wanted to make a statment against M$ and it now looks like it has backfired on u guys.

free does not mean that the service has to suffer STEAM is free and they have no problems

  • @UndeadPirate98

Why would the in-game XMB need to be simplified?

  • @ UndeadPirate. +1
@ UltraRazpacho. The in-game xmb is often slow and laggy, which can lead to getting stuck on the xmb after doing something like checking a message.

  • Sony, if you do anything please make sure you put *less* ‘security’ in your future products.

  • Yes the New Mortal Kombat it very awesome @ 203

  • Any babies out there, you *know* in whose hands the chocolate truly belongs.

  • Incoming cross-game chat for plus members, right??

  • “A source with close connections to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe reports that the attack to the PlayStation Network may be a bit deeper than originally reported by Sony. According to the source, who wishes to remain anonymous, the PSN sustained a LOIC attack (which created a denial-of-service attack) that damaged the server. There was also a concentrated attack on the PlayStation servers holding account information. In addition, “Admin Dev accounts were breached.”

As a result, “Sony then shut down the PSN and [is] currently in the process of restoring backups to new servers with new admin dev accounts.” The SCEE source said Japanese servers may be restored tomorrow while the U.S. and E.U. servers will likely be operational the following day.

  • It’s alright, Sony, just make sure it’s secure and never happens again.

  • Sony better get their S##t together Quick, with a PROMISE that something like this will never happen again. I already have alot of friends that went out and got xboxes or are thinking about it because they have lost faith in PSN. And if its not up soon, they will see more people switch over……………..

  • HEY PATRICK COULD YOU LET US KNOW, AS SOON AS YOU KNOW, WHEN PSN WILL BE BACK UP?

  • I don’t want to find out the day after PSN is back, that it’s back!!!

  • I’m kinda fine now that I know that they are done or almost done fixing the PSN but I’m actually glad that they’re making it even more protected so that something like this will never happen again. Although I’d suggest that you put the updates on Twitter,Facebook, etc. Playstation Europe is doing this and thats how I’m finding my info. Although Nice Work Sony. Hopefully the PSN will be back and running by Monday Morning/Afternoon.

  • Sony if our credit card info has been compromised LET US KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Playstation Network introduces new feature where you can know exactly where someone is, within a videogame.

  • -_- @ all the people complaining about people asking for a 25$/50$ PSN card. You know its not gonna happen so why even bother to complain? If you don’t want to read it, guess what? You can always, you know….go to another site.

Anyway, aside from that, a new upgrade, Sony? Really? Don’t expect PSN to be up until at least Thursday, meaning no store update. Thank you, hackers. =]

  • Maybe they should have started on this years ago. Sorry sony but you really dropped the ball on this one. You’ve had ample time to do this, you could have stopped this from happening five years ago, you know what with all the ps home hackers that do server hacks to get free stuff. And all ‘those’ people would brag that the mods dont care, well time to fire those mods and hire some new ones like me. I was the one who sent you guys all the hack tools that they used, heck I was the one who shut down code reality for 6 months. I sent you all the tools they used to use to hack socom 2, 3 and CA. SO I want a Job as a Moderator in Home.

That is where all this began…..in HOME……

  • If your CC has been compromised im sure sony would have let us know……..I pulled mine just in case though as soon as I heard PSN was hacked…………..

  • YEAH!!!!! More single player today!

  • Anyone who hasn’t, download Wyclef Jean’s intro track from The Carnival

  • Well, it still doesn’t work today either..

Seems like “somebody” lied about working “around the clock” to get the PSN up and running again since it’s been down for over a week… 168 hours and they can’t get it up?

    o_O

    LIES and Epic Failure.

  • It really stinks that theses hackers thought they could get away with it? So I hope they make it impossible for other intrusions to happen. Were all pulling for you Sony, take your time to make sure this can’t happen again.

  • Honestly I don’t think it was the Anons at all. After much deliberation I know who would have the most to gain from this unfortunate turn of events. It was the Baron. He told us that we wouldn’t stop his Eggcellent plan and by george he was right. We took him totally for granted as he ran around dropping Lucy’s eggs, but look at us now. I waited a hold month for my gold egg to hatch and now the Baron has it. I can here that maniacal laughter as he sits there gloating over how well his plan worked.

  • i agree that + users should see some compensation for this, as do the non + users.i just hope that the “new” system is more secure and stable than the current one.

  • Nothing yet as I expected! Gotta figure its Easter and the Sony team was off and not getting PSN back up.

PS3/Sony’s new motto should be “It only does PSN outages!”

  • I know that I am positively a playstation fan, have been since ps1 was first introduced, hav’nt ever owned an xbox and never will. Stand behind Sony all the way, so all you winers out there that are crying becouse the network is down need to just shut up it’s not the end of the world…..:)

  • Also I would like to add to my previous statement. It could have happened to Microsoft to, these hackers just know what the best console is. I am not trying to justify what they did, but just trying to put a positive on a negative situation.

  • Yay for hypocrites @supergooman
    Idiots…idiots everywhere.

  • fail harder? WTF???

  • Really why wasn’t this done from day 1 when the network was setup?
So what your saying is we have had our personal and financial data on an insecure network for up to 5 years … the news from Sony just keeps getting better!
I’ll bet the last update lets us all know our data was compromised too!

  • Come on Sony, does PSN really have to be offline for a few more days just to re-build security? This is a little unacceptable that it’s been offline for 3 days now. This never happens to Xbox Live…. Please fix this asap. So much for being down 1 to 2 days…

  • Thank you for the update Sony. I’m willing to sacrifice (for lack of a more appropriate word) PSN for now for something a stronger, more secure and more robust PSN later. Also, I’m enjoying my solitary gaming time as well. That, and I’m getting a new SONY HDTV in a few days to replace a crappy vizio ($1000 for less than 2.5 years of service; what a JOKE) that’ll go nicely with my SONY 5.1 HD Theatre System! Bravia Sync, here I come!

  • @126: Agreed! People are talking about how bored they are, but there are Stanley Cup Playoffs going on. LET’S GO CAPS!

  • @enforcer_X they are buffing up security if they didn’t this would of happened awhile ago. Your financial data is safe . It’s just hackers trying to get free stuff

  • Happy Easter, people & Sony! As long as it was necessary to take PSN down for safety reasons and if they are rebuilding it I’m fine. Fine things go a long way, and you can’t expect oil from fossils overnight. Calm down people.

  • I predict Monday, April 25th 4:00pm PST

  • ************************************************************************************************************************

    Fellow Playstation3/PSP gamers…

There are some issues which should be addressed by SONY right now!

Are these things safe or has this information been compromised?

    1.) CREDIT CARD INFORMATION
2.) PERSONAL INFORMATION i.e., Names, Addressed, Phone, Email etc.
    3.) PSN PURCHASES
    4.) PSN FUNDS

Sony, you have the LEGAL obligation to let us know if our information has been compromised in any way.
STOP BEING SO VAGUE !!! You are upsetting people, YOUR CUSTOMERS, by being ridiculously uninformative.

Oh, yes it does suck that the PSN is down and we can’t game, listen to music, use services that were paid for.
Yes, we do enjoy the PSN, thank you Sony for making it free to access.
