I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online. Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time.

As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly. We’ll keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience.

  • Sony took down the PSN, not Hackers…
    There was a possibly intrusion, YES, but it did not shut down the PSN. Sony could have patched the PSN hole that was exploited and have had the PSN up this whole time. SONY chose to take down the PSN themselves to fix what they should have been doing this whole time.

    blah blah blah…

    either way…Sony dropped the ball on this one…

  • last outage I lost the $16 I had on my PSN wallet, still no word on that even though I contacted Sony Support.

    Will I lose the $21 I have now? We’ll see.

    My favorite is …we’ll be down 1-2 days to we have no frickin clue when we’ll go live (pun intended) again. Somebody in HR doesn’t have a clue to how to hire the right people.

  • Here I was hoping to boot up and see it back online, well Five days now with no online and I realize how much I love my online gaming. Playing Dante’s Inferno to platinum that in the meantime but it hurts because of the DRM on the Capcom games I can’t play Final Fight which sucks.

    Sounds like a massive update to the servers and all was restructured from the top down, and if it is an outside attack they would be looking for certain details but to get them they would have had to penetrate deep into the system more then what a normal Denial of service attack would have done.

    Just fishy how this did happen Wednesday night after Portal 2 and so many big games were launched, I can see the theories arising that this was a X-box people who did it as no PS3 gamer would hurt it’s own bloodline. But still hopefully this gets online and is back fairly quick otherwise I don’t know because the rest of my games are online based

  • To answer ones earlier question, i’ve been working on trophies for the following games (current progress)…

    Mini-Ninjas (20%)
    Black Ops (36%….still stuck getting to a checkpoint on veteran..pfft)
    DH:A (47%)
    Stacking (67%..just the DLC to go)

    A few other mixed in but just playing to break up the mix. Keep staring at Fallout 3 and Borderlands which I need to finish up for platinums (57%..last one earned 3/9….damn freezing pisses me off…. and 81% respectively)

    …haven’t got the DLC for Stacking yet, but beat the game a few weeks back…
    been playing Zen Pinball: Sorcerers Lair…which i got early, BUT, it is supposed to launch TOMORROW, and SONY did tell Zen Studios that the launch will still go ahead for TUESDAY because the PSN will be up by then…but, who know…
    If you want, we can trophy boost the zombie trophies in COD:BO when the psn does go live…

  • The PSN was compromised quite seriously, so it’s good that Sony is taking these steps.

    However, it would be nice if, at some point, Sony explained why they couldn’t resume PSN operations more quickly, and then at some later date announce a scheduled outage during which to perform the “rebuild.”

  • The biggest problem with this is not that the PSN is offline. Stuff like this happens and, while unfortunate, people know Sony techs are working hard in getting the system online, and nobody is going to die if they don’t get their daily fix of Call of Duty. The biggest problem is that the information feed from their part is f**cking pathetic…

    People realize about this problem long before Sony’s PR acknowledge it. The same happened during the 02/29th bug, when we all knew what was happening but Sony just kept silent, as if letting us know it would fix itself was beneath them. I am sure they know the shut down would last more than “1 or 2 days” long before friday, yet they never let us know… Now there are rumors and comments that personal information (and credit card numbers) might have been accessed by whoever hacked PSN and we can be damn sure we won’t get any information about it until some real damage gets done (if ever).

    If Sony expect people to have a little sympathy, stop underestimating the costumers and treat us with a little respect… As busy as Mr Seybold might be, it is not like his role as communicator includes more than communicating with the public.

  • Sucks you guys had to work through the holiday weekend over some kids playing internet tough guy.

  • Keep working on it guys. It’s more important to make the network impregnable than to rush it out. While I wish I could get on PSN, I’d rather it be secured once again. Hope to get an update soon on at least a time frame, although I’m sure it’s difficult with this kind of work.

  • SNEA i hope that this “rebuilding” of the PSN infrastructure makes PSN a lot better in every way possible. Maybe now that you are “rebuilding” you can rebuild it with Cross Game Chat and many other great features, that would win over everyone (including xbox live people) with how great the “new” PSN is.

    In a way SNEA this could be a blessing if you do the right things to make PSN even better than it was before.

  • To be honest, I can deal with the outage, I’m just a bit more concerned about CC info and if I can breath a little bit better :)

    Also, in the event that info did get lifted, you still have a customer (granted, one that will move to using ONLY prepaid PSN cards) because it can happen to the best of them….EVEN BANKS!

  • @HALFBAKEDJ12 – PSN and your account info now fall under SNEA (Sony Network Entertainment America). It’s a division created to curate Sonys network services throughout all its many branches.

    Myself- I’m going to finish up that plat on Dead Nation. I need the co-op run, finish my solo morbid run (currently @ last checkpoint on stage 6), and a stage on Undead. Add me when PSN comes back if you want to kill some zombies.

    Also, I’ll have to get back into fighting shape for SSF4 AE coming soon.

    Until then I’ll probably be playing RIFT (PC).

    If you saved data to the Cloud service, odds are you probably can’t since the network is down.

    Speaking of that, has anyone considered that many the PSN was shut down because there were too many people saving stuff to Cloud at the same time and Sony never expected it would get that big so fast?

    If that’s the case, what a case of epic failure. They’re probably replacing all the storage with much bigger & more power efficient hardware.

    Tonight’s menu. Finish up Stacking and the main event: How long can I survive on legend in DH:A (again, and it’s not been very long at time…doh! lol) ?!?! Trying to get to level 50, but those little bugger goblins at level 38 hit like a truck when surrounded by 4 and no real options left to use. Depending on time, likely run another race or 2 in legend mode in Superstars V8….4 trophies to go for platinum. :)

  • @2227 if your info been compromised MC Visa and AMEX calling to you already say thanks to SNEA that they shut servers respectfully on time to prevent you from been completely compromised its policy of many companies to shut servers to hell as soon as possible in event of any missive attack or unstable behavior of ANY sort

  • all you people complaining about getting a refund that have ps plus, do the math! being out of service for 4-6 days you are losing like what? 75 cents?

  • Aw man, I thought they were going to be putting it back up when I read just PSN update. Aw well, guess I will just wait a little longer. I finished Infamous again, so I guess I could go play through the Uncharted games again, or maybe I will just replay MGS4. As always my support is with you, I just hope it’s back up this week, if it goes onto next week, that would be pushing it. Please get it fixed soon.

  • Take as much time as you need to bring us back online and keep our Network safe. Do what you have to do to get us online again, and in the process, I hope evidence is discovered on who or what did this. If an external intrusion, I hope the hammer will fall.

    I’ll be here rooting you on. I miss my Network.

  • just beat killzone 3 on elite. The last segment of mission Interception was a pain.

  • Credit card info.

    If you’re concerned about your credit card information possibly being stolen it’s up to you to take preventive action. The first thing you should do is check your credit card account online.

    If you have any unauthorized charges to your credit card account, call the credit card issuer(Capital One, Chase, etc.) immediately and report it.

  • Coming from an IT background, I completely understand that you guys can’t give us more info. I for one appreciate everything that the SNEA team do to give us the online gameplay experience that we have. Online gameplay was just a pipedream when I was a kid lol. Keep up the great work guys :D

  • And to those who feel that they deserve a refund because you are Plus subscribers, don’t you think many of the rest of us also lost something? And think of it this way, Sony and it’s partners lost millions of dollars these past few days. They took the biggest hit of us all. And now you want to continue to rob them once they are online again?

    We all suffered, yes. But not as mush as Sony has. Once the Network is up an running again, why not be appreciative of the extra work they put in to get it going and hope that we all can continue playing without any further interruptions?

    And if you really must be compensated, go after the people who very likely caused the problem. The alleged hackers.

  • They better be working all day/night shifts. 24/7. have one crew working in the day and the other crew working at night. This is a major operation and they need to attack the problem. they are a big organization and must pay their employees for overtime!
